- Augustine and Winnie have always been together their whole childhood. Ever since elementary school up until now, when they have graduated high school. They were inseparable.
But now that Winnie has been accepted to his university, he is soon leaving town. The two decide to spend their last day together before his move.
Not long after they hopped into Winnie's car, they suddenly found themselves trapped in a freezing blizzard.
... It's currently July.

I literally started crying from how cute the good ending was and then you go and fucking kill him right after 😭😭😭
ive noticed that the dev does a LOT of foreshadowing at the beginning of the games.
for an example, in death plate, rody says to vince, “aren’t you worried? if anything happens to the building, everything will be gone.” and then he sets the restaurant on fire, which also sets vince’s apartment into flames.
here, augustine goes up on the second floor for the first time and thinks, “the stairs coming up here are a bit too high though. it’d be bad if anyone fell!”
(also, notice back on the bodies of younger augustine and winnie… winnie looks like he got stabbed. by an elk’s horns, likely. augustine has scratches, by a bear’s claws.)

Yes there's a lot of thought put into these games. The writing is easily the best party.

And about the elk and bear, he says that 'everyone seems to like an elk's horns better, but I personally like bears!'
Comparing the good and bad ending of Cold Front:
In the good ending, Augustine smiles but not the happiest since he will miss Winnie. But in the bad ending, he smiles fully without any sadness because he doesn’t miss Winnie at all.
In the good ending, Augustine has an injured leg to make him and Winnie even. In the bad ending, he only has a few minor bruises. Though, the text for Augustine is blue at the end, and based on one of comments on this video, it probably means that Augustine will get karma by injuring his leg too. Just like Winnie.
In the good ending, Winnie and Augustine defeat the monster and wake up from the coma. This solved their problems. In the bad ending, Augustine pushed Winnie, solving HIS problem and waking only him up.
So in the bad ending, he killed Winnie (or Winnie just died)
In the good ending both of them survived? Did I understand correctly?

I think the blue actually means how Augustine stole Winnie’s life just like how he think Winnie stole his. Cause think about it, in the bad ending, Augustine has everything he wanted by taking everything that Winnie had and getting a bunch of newfound attention full of pity.

i think its so so interesting how augustine is happy in both endings. you'd think, like in most bad endings, he would be upset or feel guilt or there would be some deep obvious sadness, but he isnt. hes happy. maybe for the wrong reasons, but still. hes happy. also in the bad ending, there is an aspect that tugs at a lot of worry and sadness (aside from winnie dying), and that is how genuinly happy augustine is over being noticed, even though its born of pity. it really goes to show how deprived he was/felt of attention/recognition, which can cause a lot of sympathy. anyway, i thought the idea of having augustine happy in both endings that isnt necessarily in an insane way was cool. i haven't seen something like that before
Ngl, I found it extremely disturbing.
I think the fact that he still gets to be happy in the bad ending and not care about Winnie sorta gives the feeling of just how much he resented Winnie without them getting a chance to talk to each other. And the fact that he gets attention from everyone satisfies him and he doesn't give any thought about Winnie aside from "My life is so much better without him!" and he just reaffirms his own personal bias when the audience knows it's not true.
It also just gives a loud sense of dramatic irony. Winnie wasn't trying to ruin his life at all but the bad ending makes Augustine unaware about that fact nor realising how he was wrong. I think it also resonates with me in a scary way that I've not trusted a lot of people in my life that should've been trustworthy and I've had times to cut them out of my life and if I did, I've probably would've thought that I was better off without them and been happier with my life, not realising that they do care about me but we had communication issues.

I think also since in the bad ending he and winnie never made up, so they didnt get to talk about their true feelings, so it makes sense that augustine would be happy no matter what since he was still under the belief that winnie was trying to sabotage him and take over his life even though thats not what winnie intended to do

1:15:50 the text is blue, which makes me think that if Augustine didn't survive the fall down the ice crack instead Winnie would've been the only one that survived the car crash and would be the one saying this line.
I think it might mean that Winnie is with him in spirit (maybe haunting him?) and that's why the text is only blue for the line "I'm not alone"
I was thinking about that and the text always red in this ending it's like Augustine is only thinking of himself, and the ending in blue it's because he stole everything for Winnie even his cheerful personality, so for me on this ending Augustine did what he said Winnie always did with him, stole his friends, and life... And kinda became Winnie
At 1:15:50 the text is blue, it could mean this had happened the same to winnie, him being jealous and doing all of that. Or that the unfortunate thing that happened to Winnie will happen to Augustine the same way.

And this game got me emotional in this first ending it remind me of how I lost my childhood friend...is like they move in...but they disappear out of thin air and I forgot what they look like and what's thier name....how shameful of me,it almost made me cry
They probably clarified it was from the Dead Plate devs because Dead Plate is the reason the other games have been getting more popular as well. I learned about the devs through Dead Plate, though Elevator Hitch is my favorite game from them
Only thanks to a friend did I realize that the monster is a mix of the stuffed animals from the beginning, a bear and a deer.
I think it makes a lot of sense considering the explanation for the monster's existence.

I don't know about y'all, but there were not enough apologies on Winnie's end. Yes, Auggie was wrong for being jealous and purposely not saving Winnie from falling, but Winnie had faults too. How can you explain him purposely trying to get the same award that he knew Auggie was working hard for, or getting a confession out of the person he knew Auggie had a crush on? What Winnie had for Auggie was more obsession than admiration, and I think that should've been acknowledged because copying everything about Winnie is kind of an insane thing to do to a friend.
It's just my opinion though. Overall, I still think their story is cute and does have a good message.

Anoher thing I noticed is that in the good ending Augustine always calls his friend "Winnie" while in the bad ending he aways refers to Winnie as just "him". He does that in the scenes where he is 'going crazy' as well.
My interpretation here is, that in those moments Augustine does not see Winnie as an actal person, but a threat, so it is easier for him to justify his hatred since he is not hating an actual person, but rather just someone that is after Augustines identity and does not have one of his own. In the good ending he recognises Winnie as being his own person and therefore does call him by an actual name.

I know someone compared the two endings, but I love the detail where in the good ending, in the upturned car, Augustine specifically mentioned _Winnie_ by name when he was looking around for him. While in the bad ending, he only asked for _him_ , didn't even call him by name.

in the first scene when they were kids, it was augustine that reached out to winnie
augustine also said that winnie should not assume what other people feel abt him and in the future, augustine did not follow his own advice and it was winnie that reached out to augustine
it's like augustine lost his spark while winnie gained his back
now, augustine is slowly regaining his spark back with winnie😽
also i like how augustine is happy in both endings
the creator also pointed out that winnie's summer outfit is bubble chats which symbolises their need of a conversation and communication
this game showcases how important communication is in friendships and especially relationships
i love this game a lot because of the cool concept about communication and it's very wholesome too😼

what really makes me sad is that in the game, Winnie really does like Augustine as a person.. But Augustine didn't know a thing, so in the second ending, it really is gut wrenching to see Augustine kill Winnie, the guy who found him an awesome person. I'm happy how the first ending turned out though! So I'm just going to pretend the second one doesn't exist!

Even though it's a really short game friendships falling apart cuz of jealousy and miscommunication is something really real. I can kinda understand Augustine's thoughts and in the last ending I felt really bad for Winnie
