1. What has your experience with the quarter system been like? What type of student do you feel benefits the most from the quarter system?
2. Do you find that student resources (such as academic counseling) are easily accessible and helpful?
3. Do a lot of students participate in the study abroad programs?
4. What are the pros and cons of attending college in a city?
Hi Sophia!
1. Case Western is actually on the semester system, not the quarter system. From my experience at least more internship opportunities have their summers based on the semester system rather than quarter system.
2. Student resources are definitely accessible if you want access. In regards to academic counseling, I found that what you put in was what you got out of it. If you wanted to talk a lot with your advisor you could, but if you didn't want to it wasn't an obligation. I personally found many mentors within my academic department which really made my experience great.
3. I can't answer the study abroad question super well because I was in school during the pandemic, but I know of many students who have done it.
4. I think some pros are that there are always things to do in the city such as food festivals and concerts. Public transit is easy to take and you get it for free as a student so I never felt super limited without having a car on campus. A con is that the campus is a more open campus with multiple neighborhoods bordering it which can have an impact on safety with people easily being able to walk on campus

My cousin goes here and has a full ride and I was honestly shock cause she was usually the type to party and smoked a lot in highschool and I remember she trying to apply to Cornell and ivy's in general

Getting days off for sever snow or weather is RARE. August to October u will be sweating ALOT even for a 10 min walk from the dorms to PBL or Mather quad. Cleveland gets alot of snow. If you choose a school based on weather, I don't know what to tell u ...that's a horrible way of deciding a school lol. Also, I hated Case bc the food is so bad quality (even UPitt and lower schools have way better food and options), the dorms are mostly all old with bugs (except for stj), and there's no school spirit or class identity. It says alot about how much the administration cares about its students (very little) over their school image, getting donations, etc. I honestly would have gone to a community school rather than waste my money going to case.

So students don’t support the sports games ? How is the experience for a student athlete?
School spirit has changed a lot since the pandemic. I believe there is good support now at sports events compared to before the pandemic and there seems to be great camaraderie amongst teams

Lol case is not that nerdy. Shes one of the nerdy ones but most stidents arent like that. Also, we have no school spirit, the dorms and food are C quality and plus there's alot of cliques. I wish school videos would be more genuine instead of trying to sell their schools to incoming students. Smh
i’ve heard a lot about case western(or was it wake forest.. both top schools with weird names 😭) that just isn’t positive lol kinda similar ur comment. but mostly that the environment of students is just stuffy/preppy and not so genuine or welcoming when people went to tour there. thanks for ur honesty!
No problem! I visited before committing and thought it was a nice tight knit and safe community. Lol I was so wrong. The students that do tours and host are all paid lol. I was one of the most popular students in my class. I'm pretty sure this girl knows who I am, too. (Cause I was really close with a dancer). This girl is def nerdy, but most kids stick with their small friend groups, sorority sisters, frat brothers, church group, ethnic group, and what not. Like if u went to an event, it will def be awkward to sit with ppl u don't know bc they will just stare at you or leave the table (once u are all done with the freshmen phase of making friends). Not saying their aren't nice ppl. There's nice ppl at any school u go to, but if anyone tells u that case is tight knit community and the administration truly cares fir its students, then run lol LMAOO
