I've gone down the wormhole reading about "Modular" synthesizers. There's a pretty good video by Andrew Huang on CZcams describing Modular. I'm going to get into Modular myself, I'm imagining a machine to help me make music for my videos.

The little arpeggio I'm playing comes from "Sleeping Lessons" by The Shins:

Befaco Kit Issue with Instructions v3 (Last Edit May 2018):
    -Incorrect colors listed from R107
-Colors Listed: Green - Blue - Black - Orange - Brown
-Correct Colors for 330K Resistor: Orange - Orange - Black - Orange - Brown
-I talked to Befaco, they confirmed the resistor issue and are working on updating the manual. The manual hasn't been updated yet.
I'm still a happy customer. The module sounds great and the kit is very intricate.

The beginning of "going down the rabbit hole" in electronic gear.

Wow cool. Never realized sping reverb was based on a spring

William Harris me too. Check out “plate reverb” for a crazier vintage reverb tech. Fran Lab has a cool video on it.

Synth DIY Guy is the best, for sure. I learn things from him... and I’ve been building for decades. Nice person, too. Spring sounds good, though! These really warm up synth patches a lot. Nice job.

That's a lot of resistors! I gave up on the color codes a while back (around when I learned there were actually 2 color codes, 4 and 5 stripe) and just reach for the multimeter and label them that way. Came out looking great though!

Extralife oh damn good idea! Didn’t think about that with the multimeter!

The first few DIY builds can be very harrowing. But you tend to love those modules more. I know I will never part with my Turing machine. Also, it gives you a lot more respect for those crazy people who will DIY SMD components or make huge intricate synths like Deckard's Dream.

To be honest, I find SMD to be less of a hassle than through hole parts :)
