This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!

This airline has, in my opinion, the most beautiful livery of any airline. Props to you for filming anonymously, so many vloggers splash their face everywhere in the assumption they'll get special treatment eg Sam Chui (who I personally can't stand).

Great review of Vietnam Airlines, Kevin! I thoroughly enjoy flying with them and agree on your point about their consistency and friendly crew. One point I feel needs improvement is their ageing A321 fleet and probably the lack of IFEs on those that are used for international routes.

My plane was changed from wide-body aircraft to narrow-body from Hanoi to Narita, probably because of small numbers of passenger so my in-flight entertainment for the next 5 hrs was the overhead screen thingy. Jokes aside, honestly, for such a short hop, l wouldn't expect much more than being thrown a snack or drink as the FA's run down the aisle to take their seats again for landing. I was blown away by the number of flights each day between Hanoi and Ho chi Minh city and at Luna New Year that can be 100 each way per day, that's organisation on a whole other level, lm impressed. 👍

North Vietnam did have an "Airlines" before 1975, but they're used mainly to fly high ranking officials to China, USSR, and the eastern bloc, civilians were allowed to fly domestic flights but very rare because tickets were either nearly impossible to obtain or are too expensive, kinda like the USSR way of life. After 1975, they started using captured Air Vietnam's fleet for domestic flight, they didn't have many since most of Air Vietnam's fleet has been flown outside of South Vietnam for evacuations before the takeover, the (only) 707 that they took over (originally belonged to Pan Am) sometimes makes it ways to Moscow in the 80s.

Since they’re using the 321 on medium haul routes to South Korea and Japan, I seriously want Vietnam Airlines to start thinking about upgrade their interior. The 321 is capable of having lie flat seats and there are airlines already doing that, and IFE should be standard. I've flown into /out of HCMC, Hanoi, Dalat, Danang and Nha Trang (which I love) and I'm considering a holiday up there in September/October.
