That steak photo was uncalled for. Looks perfectly done and seasoned!
Looks like it was yummy. Anything made by Mom tastes better.
Seeing the realities of farming is o 12:09 ne of the reasons I watch your channel.
Thanks for showing the human side of all the work farmers do
Any farmer realizes that while mowing, some animals can not be avoided. Usually the hay or whatever your cutting is too high and too thick to see the ground beneath, so some casualties can not be avoided.
So don't feel bad neline, it's not your fault.
Thank you for showing and explaining it as it is. The good, bad and the ugly of farming
Some things just can’t be avoided. You’re correct the duck will not be wasted.
I like the new music your using.
Me too! Haha
I read once that Coyotes, sometimes 'Jump up high' to get a better look... so they can See where the mice and other animals are hiding.
You certainly earned that steak dinner Neline!
Such beautiful landscape. Really enjoy your uploads and following the progress.
That's life on a farm, you hate it but death happens no matter what type of farming you do.I always hated mowing borders we commonly came across wildlife in the the ditches.
they are feasting - like the birds! :)
You are so funny, I really enjoy your videos, have a wonderful weekend from Ontario ❤
Thank you so much!
I bet you folks had your eyes glued to the radar last night. You dodged a big one, good thing it went south. Don’t need a visit from the great white combine.
Well the storm laid hail in Martinsville, so the storm went north
Up to 3 inches of pea size hail
@@pocketchange1951 It split, most went south towards Dundurn but my sister is in Martinsville and she said her street flooded.
@@pocketchange1951 Wow that is not good.
@@asquithmainlines699 , my daughter lives there and she posted pics on FB as did other s, 3 inches of pea size hail, that would certainly damage crops and gardens
Love The whistling music
Sandi Brock was having the same issue with water in their oatlage....so much rain....a blessing, but not without it's challenges I guess....lol. Your mom is amazing ! Kudos to her love and care that helps keep you all going ! Take that one unbroken egg....tuck it in your boob crevice and toss it in an incubator when you get home ! 😄 LOL about the vegan comment ! Those eggs might belong to a pheasant.... Happy Harvesting !! 🖐😊
Oh no....not the heckin' duckerino!
Right, that's it Neline. I am reporting you for abuse to your followers for showing that absolutely outstanding example of a Steak Lunch, not that I am jealous or anything 😂🥩🍽. Sorry about the duck, but as they say, that's farming. Great video and thanks from Scotland.
Joe here again. Yes, pheasant eggs can be different shades of brown. My guess also is that you found a nest built by local pheasants.
I want to come for lunch 😋. That looks amazing, 😂!
Another great video!!
Thanks!
Bring it home Neline. You have it covered.
Thank you
Farming is not a 9-5 for sure and when you have cows or and animals it is 365 days a year. I was thinking that those eggs looked like prairie chicken( pinnated grouse). We use to have them at our place.
Very well explained.
I don't know how you do it young lady but you are one super fine hard working farm woman. What a meal!! Another five star video
Most birds on nests hide rather then flee danger, so the noise of the machine won't chase them away. Same reason mowing say from the centre outward to create a cover to hide under fleeing into the treeline won't work either. Although rabbit and such would take such an option.
For finding nesting birds you'd need a drone with heatcamera, along with ability to catch bird, move them elsewhere (with plenty of predators watching, they learn quick), both cost time and money along with a flattened crop. Maybe with volunteers paying you for doing the job for you (crop damage), but overall the chances of such animals are bad.
Of course the coyotes are scared of you, they seen what you did to the ducks. 😂
Circle of life Honey .
For the channel.
I worked on a dairy here in Southwestern Ontario back in the 80’s. I hated mowing beside a forest because the deer would lead their fawns out into the field and they would lay down and not move for anything. I’m very thankful I never hit one, but I did come very close one time.
Coyotes gotta eat too. She may have a
bunch of little ones back at her den.
!
One of Your Best Videos - really enjoyed this one
Yes, I have seen many casualties in my years on the farm. You can not see nests until it is to late including loss of animal lives. Bye my dear and stay safe 👍👍🙏🙏
😃🚜👍
The only wild bird who lays brown eggs i could find wild bird identification charts is the northern lapwing. This species is called an Arctic bird, but apparently is not indigenous to North America.
Looks like pheasant eggs
Lemonade from lemons!
We are not We had 10 inches in the last three days a lot of towns are flooding the only way you can get around is with a boat
Circle of Life.
Momma Coyotes have to feed their babies too. They sacrifice all their Time and Energy....looking for food to feed their pups.
> Newborn coyote pups are tiny and helpless, born blind and deaf ( deaf - I didn't know that) And relying completely on their mothers to keep them alive.
The Eggs / duck will be very nourishing for the babies. (those 2 coyotes do seem rather small/young?)
7:19 😂😂
Poor ducks too bad they don't run when they hear you coming
I ended up getting a doe last year with the disc bine. The only reason I knew I got it was on the return pass it wasn't pretty.
This is honestly one of my biggest fears while cutting.
@ADairyonthePrairie No farm wants it to happen just sucks when it does.
👍👌❤️🇨🇦, real life
How many acres was in that field you were mowing.
do you have pear trees in sask?
Will you if you don't already having a or two guardian dogs.
Get some rest and do all over again. Use to find snakes in hay Bales growing up
ducks in the field - how can that duck and ducklings survive without water? I have only seen them nesting near water in my experience
I’m not sure why they nest so far away from the water.. maybe to fool predators?
@@ADairyonthePrairie Yes, and you did mention later in the vid that you came upon an empty nest, and mother & brood probably went to water after the protection of your field
We have ducks and geese nesting on the hill behind the house. A small creek that dries up every summer. But the seem to know when it’s time to swim a little ways down stream to the pond
That's a weird place for a duck to nest wasn't close to any type of pond or anything
My daughter amy she always cut are hay to and she hit. Duck nest once but the eggs survived she brought egg home and put under heat lamp .out 12 eggs 1 hatch .it was a she duck and we called her tbone.we call her tbone because she alway sat on the dog rubber toy .yes a i was A t bone.she live in house with usa lady came over to visit oneday she said how do ya stop her from shitting floor i said we use duck tape 😮
❤#🇵🇰
Your beautiful
Being an uneducated farming suburbanite why not go north south
Get a much needed rest, you do look tired 🥱.
No need to explain about the nest, you can’t control that and its part of life.
