To be honest, Elijah was my best character in both TVD and TO. He's hot and does not abuse his powers. When the less powerful vampires attack him, he does not fight them cause he'd beat them. Elijah is up there.
Also a much more interesting storyline watching how basically omnipotent beings act, manipulate and strategize to stay on top, than having always a catastrophe before you that threatens the lives of the protagonists. Only few series do that; the "Overlord" novel-series is among those.

In fact, Klaus hadn’t been as serious about permanently killing Rebekah until “The Originals” where he’d learn she and Marcel brought Mikael to New Orleans... so, the question is: what was the reason why Elijah seriously thought Klaus dumped them into the ocean, so as to be 100% serious about killing Klaus himself and ending him permanently?
The originals are so old that they are experts at adapting. His voice and accent here is so modern and natural. Compare it to his first scene where he sounds so other worldly.

I don't think so... He always cared about Klaus. At this time in TVD he wanted to kill Klaus because he somehow belived that Klaus had killed all his family (Rebekah and kol) and at this point Elijah thought that Klaus was so damaged that he can't be redeemed but Hayley's pregnancy gave him hope...but he always cared about Klaus even when he was going to kill him for his own good so that he shouldn't do more wrong things. And he cared about him from season 1 of originals till the end when died by his side believing Klaus had redeemed himself.
Not a plot hole, Elijah never seemed concerned with Rebekah's fashion or anything she owned. Why should he bother to pay attention to his baby sister's favourite necklace? Yes, it came from their mother, but that was over a thousand years ago - Elijah isn't guaranteed to recognise it from a cursory glance. Also, why would he be looking that low when Elena's eyes are in her eye sockets, not around her neck?
Am I the only one who feel this scene have same vibes as in books when Damon first visits Elena's house by using her aunt and how even he used that threatening voice despite acting sweet. Elena's reaction is also same in here.
I know this is super late but its possible he didn't have them very loud so that he could hear other sounds. Mythic Falls isn't exactly a safe place to be unaware of your surroundings.
Elijah had a soft corner for elena because he Loved Tatia which of course was role played by Nina Dobrev.. they looked alike so that's why Elijah couldn't harm Elena even if he wanted to..later in season04 he dated Katherine(which is also elena's Duplicate, the evil onE) for a while😂 but again Hailey came and he was blown away
The question now isn't if Elijah's gonna kill Elena (he's not, he needs her alive), its whether or not he'll kill her friends for what she did. And we KNOW he is at some point gonna come back to life.

It’s not even brought up again. So, as far as retcons go, it’s a humongous retcon from Season 2!Elijah wanting to kill Klaus with 100% seriousness.

After this time Klaus dissapeared like a myth and Elijah's anger grew more and more to kill him.. In the entire century.
Elijah....they better bring him back! He lives by a brutal, but honest code. He's not sadistic the way Klause, Rebecca, and even Stephan and Damon can be. He could have started killing Elena's loved ones until she agreed to comply, kidnapped her, whatever. Instead he is offering to protect her loved ones in exchange for her help. He brought the elixor to protect her even though he didn't have to. He is capable of respect and compassion. I think he and Elena could be friends.
I like The Vampire Diaries more than I like Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Which is kinda sad. BTVS has Spike, and TVD has Elijah. If I had to choose between them, I'd choose Elijah. He is so hot and amazing.
