Hi, I’m Steve, a travel reviewer from Scotland. Join me on my adventures as I discover my own country, often visiting places for the first time, so hopefully it's as much of an eye-opener for you as it is for me! Don't expect expert opinion, just a very honest journey of discovery. Sometimes featuring my intrepid sidekick Alicja, sometimes featuring adventures beyond the borders of Scotland. Enjoy!

Adhesion railway means that the locomotive is moving only by means of friction between the wheels and the tracks, no cogwheels or cables attached, which is often a feature with railways in mountainous areas.

Wanlockhead actually has it's own rock festival in the summer!
3 days of music, folks camped in the old bowling green with campervans behind that.
It is all original bands as well. They put up a large tent at the side of the pub and the bands play (mostly) in there. It can be fun when it lashes down with rain. Being sideways on from the hill at the back of it, the water coming of the hill can sometimes run through the tent like a small river whilst you are in watching the bands. One year some of the kids who were with their parents (it is a family friendly event) started building a dam with small stones inside the tent😂.
It is bloody hilly and blowy all the time from my experiences.

Try Sail and Rail if not bringing van. Public transport is good here But lots of places more accessible with a vehicle of course.. Oh Laxey campsite is really nice Small affordable decent. And a tram stop v close. Biggest downside is that Laxey is very hilly so not great for creaky people / disabled access.

Nice video Steve. The map of Scotland is very interesting and very unique.

what a wonderful, atmospheric and "random" video! an unexpected treat for a Tuesday full of Zoom calls! charming train and village (from a distance). enjoyed the map of Scotland and the sentiment behind it. Plus a definition: an adhesion railway relies on adhesion traction to move the train. Adhesion traction is the friction between the drive wheels and the steel rail. More random videos, please! Cheers!
