    Great video, I've been waiting for reviews and videos of these lights and glad you compared the two models. I was torn between the P17 and P18 and ended up purchasing the P18 during Black Friday which I don't regret! The higher sustained outputs, longer throw, larger beam coverage, and built in USB C charging is worth the trade off of it being a slightly larger light, in my opinion.

      Thank you, for me it doesn't make any sense, but maybe it has some reasoning in tactical situation?

      @ianmaw66 Před rokem

      @@FlashlightEnthusiast Is high stress situations you can lose your fine motor functions and in that case maybe it makes sense that pressing either button will give you maximum power. Just a theory.

    • @Labrador7
      @Labrador7 Před rokem

      @@FlashlightEnthusiast from a tactical standpoint it might make sense to have a mode where both buttons activate turbo. This way, even under stress, there is no way to accidentally activate another level by mistake. That being said, since there two tactical modes, it would make sense to have a shortcut to turbo and low in at least one. The shortcut to low could be a triple click of the function switch which would minimize the risk of unwanted activation in an emergency. Just my humble opinion of course. I suscribed to your channel, you make great reviews.

      @@FlashlightEnthusiast Niestety nie. Z wyglądu i funkcjonalości kusi, bo jest to latarka taktyczna jakiej na żywo nie widziałem. Możesz zobaczyć nowość Nitecore p23 na sft70 3000 lm i 470 zasięgu. Ta wydaje mi sie lepszą opcją taktyczną od nich.

    Excellent job, as always!
    That P18 is definitely pretty unique on the flashlight market, being a (relatively) compact single 21700 cell flashlight, with a quad-emitter head.
    The only other similar light that comes to mind is the Rovyvon S23, which uses (4) Cree XP-L diodes, but they are domed, and output is a bit lower at 4000 lumens.
    It would be interesting to compare these two lights.
    Anyway, I ordered a P18. I had a Wurkkos FC12 (SFT-40) that I really liked, but, it got lost. So, it created an opportunity to replace it with something even better!
    I’ll be using it on night runs in the country.

    Thanks for this review. You asked about a holster - mine didn’t come with a holster either. No lanyard. The lubrication of my P18 seems a little bit poor. Not to say completely absent. The tailcap thread in general doesn’t give a high-quality impression.

    Unless you must EDC one of the two flashlights, I would buy the four-emitters light - Acebeam P18. For some reasons, it has more throw than the P17, and better thermal curve.
    Anyway, for practical purposes, both lights can produce continuously 1000 - 1200 Lumens. The 5000 Lumens figure is for a warning flash...

  • @VaughnTeegarden
    @VaughnTeegarden Před rokem +5

    Really wish manufacturers would care more about tint. 6500k is bluish with poor color rendition, making target identification harder. The Xhp70.3 hi is amazing between 4500-5000k, very natural light that our eyes work well with. Acebeam, listen to me... LUMENS ARENT EVERYTHING. TINT MATTERS.

    Is the turbo on the P17/P18 also regulated, i.e. it still achieves almost the same performance when the battery voltage drops, or is the turbo FET?

    • @FlashlightEnthusiast
      @FlashlightEnthusiast  Před rokem +2

      I believe it is regulated in all modes, Acebeam is known for that, only regulated boost drivers.

    • @FlashlightEnthusiast
      @FlashlightEnthusiast  Před rokem +1

      For what I can tell based on a short research it is made for smaller 1" lights, so in that case P17 might be too thick to be compatible
