Hi John . I have been fiddling with my new Eutech Thermometer and have been converting C. or Centigrade to Fahrenheit. That grease has a huge range. -73 C = -99.4 Fahrenheit 121 C = 241.8 Fahrenheit
I have that book in color on knots and have had it for 15 or more years. That clamp is beautiful and looks like if starrett made one. That grease is out of this world.
I love clamps too and I'm sure I also have about 50. The clamp is an absolute home run. I have a smaller one but I will be looking for a larger one like yours.
I remember growing up my father had that same grease, he had gotten when he was in the National Guard, he kept it in his firearms cabinet! I’m pretty sure he still has it!
By far my favorite c clamp restoration you ever done. Love the look of the shape and the finish you put on it. You’ve inspired me for a clamp I have sitting on my bench to do. So I will by copying you! LOL.
Nice!! I have a place here in NJ that has a bunch of stuff from the 80s that is all NOS.... Still in the box. Last August i purchased 10 of those deep-reach C clamps. I used them that same afternoon on a special glue-up. These came in a cardboard box with an orange & black paper label. I was able to scan the label on my computer and used it to make a couple sweatshirts. One says "Get a Grip" and the other says "Still Bougie about my Tools".
The clamp came out great. The books are also neat, bit my favorite was the grease. I like the old military surplus stuff. Thanks again and see you Friday
Great video👍 That Jorgensen 176 C-clamp 🗜turned out fantastic! After seeing the restoration project,There was so many twists with that clamp 🗜 that my eyebrows fell out 😂😂👍. Speaking of twists, that was a great idea to put the C-clamp in the vise and take two metal crowbars , couple clamps 🗜 🗜 to hold the crowbars to the big C-clamp and just pull on the crowbars to get that twist out of the big C-clamp ,fantastic job!👍👍I can see if you are learning about tying knots 🪢 that the colored version of the book 📖 is more easier to see and understand better than the black and white version. Some electrical ⚡️ books 📚 also do that for the reader to understand the illustration of the electrical diagrams on the page or how to illustrations. It look like that military gear ⚙️ grease had a good smell 👃 to it 😂😂👍. That is supposed to be a great lubricant for airplane components that undergo a lot environmental conditions , it’s like a SuperLube for Airplanes ✈️. I like how you highlighted the lines of the Jorgensen C-clamp 🗜and made the lettering come out on the clamp. I also like how that shellac makes that bare metal and original finish pop, awesome job!👍. I think that is a appropriate look for that clamp 🗜. You knock that one out of the park 🏟 ⚾️⚾️⚾️👍. Can’t wait to Friday’s video to see what’s in that cigar 🚬 Box 📦. Great shot on the water with Old Glory 🇺🇸 flying in the breeze. Well again great video and can’t wait to see Friday’s video. Have a great night. 😃👍👍
That was a fantastic show today thanks Scout, right up my alley. What a beautiful clamp, we made nothing like that in Australia but I have a pair of US made C clamps similar to yours that I find quite attractive. They’re a very underrated tool in the workshop. I’m off to trim my eyebrows😂. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺
Well John, you do like to mix it up, I was never expecting you to start by talking about eyebrows, it just shows what a "high brow" show you have ! That C clamp is awesome, as was the restoration never seen one like that before, I love the raw finish too ! I have that exact book on knots and rope work, and I bought it because I liked the colour having always used my Dad's book from when he was at sea school but found the pictures hard to follow !
Noticed the elasticated toggle on your mystery box. Can’t tell you how useful these are for affixing anything to awning poles. Use them all the time when camping!
The clamp turned out wonderful, Scout. You gave me a few ideas about a couple clamp projects I have on the horizon. I hope you are enduring the heat wave well. 😀👍
The hair loss thing may be alopecia. My brother in law has it. It can be nerves or autoimmune system. And yes it took some getting used to him without hair. He sees it as a positive as he doesn't have to shave! Great job on the clamp
love C clamps, G clamps! never seen one this shape before in this size. I have a small one thats 1" ir 1.5" in size by Pony maybe, will have to dig it out but its a true C shape like this. And just wow with the rest you did! amazing how it turned out 100 x better looking from factory finish!
EYEBROWS!!!????, you have no idea of the things that were going thru my mind when I saw the post, I had to listen in, couldn’t imagine what or how you were to restore eyebrows🙄😏😉😂😂😂. Like the clamp, that came out beautifully, nice job, thanks for the video, enjoyed watching.
I have vintage Jorgenson bar clamps and like them. They slide very smoothly. I've never seen a C clamp like yours. Very graceful looking. Your cleanup is very appropriate to the tool. I like the older thumbscrew vs. the rods. Thumbscrew spotting is how I spot vintage clamps at a glance. It has never occurred to me that broken thumbscrews were due to someone putting a wrench on the tool. Jorgenson is now Chinese owned.
C clamps are one of my favorites to collect. I really must try that trick with those bars because I've been struggling with straightening a pair. Thank you!
That's a proper C clamp, I'll have to stop calling my G clamps C clamps now. I've never been blessed with proper eyebrows, I keep hoping that they'll grow but the only extra hair I get is in my ears and on my back, nature can be so cruel sometimes 😂. Great video👍🏻
Hey !John la restauration de la merveilleuse "C clamp" est vraiment superbe. Les gens sans sourcils ressemblent beaucoup à des "Aliens".Voilà pourquoi certaines femmes se les font dessiner à l'encre indélébile. ❤
The clamp looks great and I can read the Jorgensen name now! I thought you painted it but the shellac really did a great job of restoring the original look to the clamp. Thanks to you, Mike and Roger for this tutorial.
Great video today John and I really love that clamp. Hey, just a suggestion. I am diving into the world of shellac and it might be a good topic to explain the different cuts and colors. I’m even starting to mix my own, which is really kind of fun and the results are fantastic.
Shellac flakes are great because they have a long shelf life! Plus you can cut them in many different strengths. The Bulls Eye Shellac is a great product for the average homeowner. 😃👍
Great clamp... Always amazing how tools get abused. I realize sometimes you must improvise, but that looks like a heavy clamp...if tools could only talk!
Clamp turned out nice. I have a few old military oils and grease or at least I use too. Something that always creeped me out is women who remove their eyebrows and then pencil them in. It's not only doing that but also they seem to share certain character traits. It's hard for me not leave.
Greetings from Abu Dhabi. Yet another fascinating episode (as usual, we learn so much each time). In reference to the Mona Lisa, I was visiting the Prado Museum in Madrid and discovered on display their own version of the Mona Lisa (apparently the earliest studio copy) that clearly depicts her eyebrows and veil. It's a fascinating story in and of itself. I enclose the wikipedia link just to satisfy curiosity: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona_Lisa_(Prado). As always, thank you for each and every one of your episodes. Oh, and by the way, feel free to rant away as there are many of your contemporaries who concur!
Absolutely fantastic! You actually saw the Mona Lisa Prado! I have met a bunch of people who have seen the Mona Lisa but never the Prado Mona Lisa! Honestly to me it’s more appealing a with the vibrant colors and fresh restoration. That’s terrific, thanks so much for sharing that!!! 😃👍
I had not thought about Mona Lisa losing her eyebrows. Very interesting. The clamp looks terrific, better than new, well done. It is HUGE. I can imagine some person breaking the thumb screw by using a wrench on some heavy load. Dave.
You can chase your tail on that- The only way to straighten the threads properly is to remove it from the clamp and that means removing the swivel pad- 🫣😂👍
Eyebrows... I once had my eyebrow shaved off when I was drunk (when I used to drink) and it looks so weird. Problem was it was 1 week before I got married. Had to wear eyebrow pencil. Hahaha
Fantastic show John love the clamp it’s came up amazing Was there a specific use for this clamp Re the shape like a Pipe ect amazing stuff god bless take care 🇺🇸🇳🇿🇮🇱🦅🗽🪖🏛️🌟47
That clamp looks great, John. On your wire wheel set up, can you tell me what the adapter is called and where you can purchase one? I've got a few motors sitting around, and that's pretty nifty. By the way, I got my hair cut today along with my bushy eyebrows.😂👍🏻🇺🇸
Honestly I didn’t expect it to be so smooth and slippery, it will have many applications in my shop because for me regular grease is too tacky and thick most times. 😃👍
There is a very slight bend however to fix it straight you have to remove the swivel pad and unscrew the shaft and go to the press, otherwise you chase your tail.
Lovely restoration John. I have one question though: in all the restorations you made over the years, I noticed that you don’t use sand blasting. What is your opinion about SB?
Dino- I have a nice blasting cabinet but the small imperfections from the blasting media always promoted rust for me. I stopped using it 15 years ago! 😃👍
If the clamp is sprung the swivel pad will be forward of the resting pad. Many clamps from years ago did not fully seat when empty- I have clamps that have a 4” gap- 😃👍

That C clamp- what a beaut! Outstanding!
"...no color, no paint..." Ah, music to my ears! Ha! (yes, I'm a card-carrying member) Very nicely done!
Nice resto ! Never seen a " C" clamp before !
Finished just right Mr. John! Classy!
I have that book in color on knots and have had it for 15 or more years. That clamp is beautiful and looks like if starrett made one. That grease is out of this world.
That "C" clamp is a treasure!
Those old Jorg C clamps are awesome! Excellent for clamping stuff to the drill press table.
I love clamps too and I'm sure I also have about 50. The clamp is an absolute home run. I have a smaller one but I will be looking for a larger one like yours.
Now that you restored the clamp, he can't sell it. Its PRICELESS! :) Great show today!
I might of just priced myself out of the sale! 🫣😂👍
Pretty astonishing properties of that grease. So cool that it was from way back in 1951. Amazing job on that C-clamp!
Fantastic video today. Oooh and a cliffhanger! I gotta see what’s in the box!
Beautiful “C” clamp! I don’t believe I have ever seen one before. Thank You for sharing!!
I love the design on that clamp! And, that wingnut! You did it justice and made it beautiful
Wingnut! 😃👍
LOL.
I always loved the “C” shaped clamps. They have become pricy over the years. 😃👍
Beautiful C clamp you don't see too many of that style. Thanks for sharing your expertise
I learn something new from you each week! I never noticed the Mona Lisa eyebrow thing, but what a difference!
Boy you really got the embossment to pop! I would have never imagined it would come back like that. The whole clamp looks great 😍
Nice!! I have a place here in NJ that has a bunch of stuff from the 80s that is all NOS.... Still in the box. Last August i purchased 10 of those deep-reach C clamps. Yes! I know the owner! He sells at Jacktown! 😃👍
That clamp is eyebrow raising John ! 😁 It's beautiful - nicely done !
Great restoration of that clamp. Have never seen one before. Very handsome design..
That grease is a veteran of the Korean War.
The clamp came out great. The books are also neat, bit my favorite was the grease. I like the old military surplus stuff. Thanks again and see you Friday
great show, thxs for sharing...hi to all the critters
What kind of maniac does not like greasing their clamps. Nice video.

That clamp is very nice, you did a great job Scout. When you showed that grease can, I said to myself, I wonder if he is going to remove the dent lol.

That's an amazing clamp. Great job!
What a cool clamp. The humidity down here turns the shellac white after a few months, which is a shame because it looks so good. Cheers
I have a large collection of clamps. I do not own one of these c clamps. I have to say you made the old girl into eye candy, beautiful! Thank you
Jess- The actual “C” style clamps are so attractive! 😃👍
I’ve got a couple of “G” clamps that are twisted like yours. Now I know what to do. Thanks!
I have vintage Jorgenson bar clamps and like them. They slide very smoothly. I've never seen a C clamp like yours. Very graceful looking. Your cleanup is very appropriate to the tool. Nice job on that beautiful clamp, ScoutCrafter.
That clamp turned out beautiful John. Nicely done
Hey Scout, I'm going to stop passing up those bent clamps at the flea market thanks to you!
C clamps are one of my favorites to collect. I really must try that trick with those bars because I've been struggling with straightening a pair. Thank you!
The longer the bar the easier it is! 😃👍
Nice "C" clamp and beautiful restoration.
Very cool clamp!
That would be singular for me. Unibrow
That is a nice deep clamp. Thanks for sharing the cleanup and straightening.
Now That's-a Big C Clamp...

WOW!!!!! The eye brow thing was VERY RANDOM!!! I might have to use that for one of my 'Andy VERY random thought' segment on one of my videos!!!!
The clamp looks great and I can read the Jorgensen name now! I thought you painted it but the shellac really did a great job of restoring the original look to the clamp. Thanks to you, Mike and Roger for this tutorial.
Whole show....NICE!
Cool clamp!
You have such a cool channel, enjoy watching your videos. Take care Scott.
Scout, dang auto correct.

John, Nice job on the C clamp. Only you could make CZcams content about missing eyebrows! Dave
😂
Great clamp... Always amazing how tools get abused. I realize sometimes you must improvise, but that looks like a heavy clamp...if tools could only talk!
Had great time
Didt know they were brothers
Im the chrome fish tank guy
With poison ivy dad lol
See you in August!
Guv'ment grease. Packed so well it will still be good 100 years from now.
Clamp turned out nice. I have a few old military oils and grease or at least I use too. Something that always creeped me out is women who remove their eyebrows and then pencil them in. It's not only doing that but also they seem to share certain character traits. It's hard for me not leave.

Hi John nice restoration on the C clamp 👍
Nice job on the clamp! 👍. As I aged my eyebrows have become very thick and wiry so when I go to the barber he uses the clippers to trim them!
Me too! 😂👍
I had not thought about Mona Lisa losing her eyebrows. Very interesting.
The clamp looks terrific, better than new, well done. It is HUGE. I can imagine some person breaking the thumb screw by using a wrench on some heavy load.
Dave.
Love that clamp. Very nice restoration. in some shots it looks like there is a very slight bend in the screw.

Eyebrows... I once had my eyebrow shaved off when I was drunk (when I used to drink) and it looks so weird. Problem was it was 1 week before I got married. Had to wear eyebrow pencil. Hahaha
Jorgensen was in Seattle next to Boeing sadly closed down in 2018
Nicely done 👍 looks fantastic
Great job. First "Dibs", ages since I've heard that. Hope you get the clamp its very unusual.
Thanks for the video.
Fantastic show John love the clamp it’s came up amazing
Was there a specific use for this clamp Re the shape like a
Pipe ect amazing stuff god bless take care 🇺🇸🇳🇿🇮🇱🦅🗽🪖🏛️🌟47
I’m not sure because they were popular for a short time then just faded out. 🤔😂👍
Interesting clamp.
…more powerful than a locomotive, he can bend steel with his bare hands!
I have been around for awhile. I have never seen an actual "C" clamp!
That's a neet clamp I was surprised to see that grease was still useable after these years
Nice job on the clamp! I loved that trick to straighten it.
Gotcha 👍👍🔩🔩
That clamp looks great, John. On your wire wheel set up, can you tell me what the adapter is called and where you can purchase one? I've got a few motors sitting around, and that's pretty nifty. By the way, I got my hair cut today along with my bushy eyebrows.😂👍🏻🇺🇸

Oddly enough Government Grease & Government Cheese are made with the exact same formula.
😂
know a woman who got tattooed eyebrows only the tattooist misshaped them a 1/4 inch too high and she has ever since looked startled now for years .
That's funny.😂 As a child, my wife plucked her eyebrows, and now gets them redrawn at her haircutters.
Hey, John, why wouldn't they make all clamps circular rather than G shaped? It seems C shape would have more clamping room for most applications.
Great question! They aren’t popular although they look attractive to me. 🤔😃👍
San Antonio had a trend, where certain females got eyebrows tattooed onto their face.
Crazy right!? 😂👍
That grease might work well on ratchets.
Honestly I didn’t expect it to be so smooth and slippery, it will have many applications in my shop because for me regular grease is too tacky and thick most times. 😃👍
Another great resto John, did the thread have a slight bend it or was it just the angle of the camera? Either way great show see you on TGIF. 👍🏻🇦🇺
There is a very slight bend however to fix it straight you have to remove the swivel pad and unscrew the shaft and go to the press, otherwise you chase your tail.
@@ScoutCrafter fully understand John, it’s a case of how far do you do it a repair.
No "hiss" with the grease?
😂
Very nice, sometime you have to use some Brute force.
Hey, SC. Was that your back we heard popping when you were straining to straighten the clamp in the vice???😅❤
Carl- Believe it or not it took a lot of push/pull force to bend it back! My bench isn’t bolted down so it was starting to move! 😂👍
The clamp looks like it’s sprung. Any tips on closing them up. I’ve never been successful. They don’t seem to survive their first use.
If the clamp is sprung the swivel pad will be forward of the resting pad. Many clamps from years ago did not fully seat when empty- I have clamps that have a 4” gap- 😃👍
Why do we all give that little tap or two before we strike with the hammer?
That’s a good question! Maybe to make sure the punch or chisel is seated solid. 🤔😃👍
Alopecia
My ex neighbour had her eyebrows shaved off and new ones drew on, she looked hideous.
Hey Scout! This show was Knot interesting.
Sorry, can't pass up a good pun!
C-Clamp!😅 C-Clamp, Run! Old elementary school book joke! See Jane! Anyway, I thought 8t was a replacement seat for a head on a submarine!🥸
