- Interview with Joe Tyree, the funeral director entrusted with Hank Willaims' body after he was pronounced dead in Oak Hill, WV on Jan 1st 1953. Interview conducted in Oak Hill, WV, May 25th, 2017.
- Hudba
It surprises me this gentleman didn't particularly know of Hank or his music much when handling the body. Hank Sr was the most popular radio star out at the time.
Hank was a man of common people and poor people. Joe Tyree owned his own funeral home...so he might have been raised on an other kind of music...I remember visiting a mountain family...they had the grand ol opry on. The house was tiny and just the barest essentials of living... It was major culture shock. TV of today look at the sets...they're all perfect people in a perfect setting...we live in a very very superficial day and age...it used to be that we kind of respected poor people for their character. no more. sadly.
@@TPaige I live in what was once a very poor neighborhood (it has since succumbed to the cancer of gentrification) of mostly Irish immigrants (my family also being of Irish heritage), anyway, these were some of the toughest, yet kindest and generous, people I've ever known. I still find my whole body, mind and soul instantly relax when I am in the company of "poor people" (ironic, because what these people lack in finances they sure make up for in character!!).
The young college student that was driving Hank didn't care for music, and was unfamiliar with William's music also.
@@seerstone8982the young drivers got the gig over the holidays because his dad owned the Cab Company in Montgomery in the neighborhood of Hanks moms boarding house, the Williams used the Cab Company on a regular basis and was good friends the drivers father. I can't remember off hand the name of the taxicab company but my first wife's grandfather was the dispatcher there during that time.
Poster of Hank could have easily been mistaken for a poster of Hank lll.
definitely!
Do u have audio recordings with joe?
Too bad his not with us anymore. The man who was there in the last 24hrs
I think he still is.
Listening to this again, I notice Mr Tyree says "opera," not "opry." No disrespect at all, but it shows you he's not a country fan.
Where's PT.2?
The extended version has been published on CZcams. It is called “Hank Williams was in good hands when he finally saw the light.” On my channel.
@@TPaige thank you my friend
I'm going
Yeah, where's PART TWO, dude? Don't do this to us, brother!
I put part two up not long ago. But like you I hope I can find part three. I have it somewhere but life gets busy while we’re making other plans. And I’m hoping to visit Mr.Tyree again. I haven’t heard that he passed away. I hope he is well.
How to put seal own upright freeze
Huh???
@@acp865 any time you need to fix an appliance, just check out the Hank postings.
love it. still laughing chuckling. 3rd time I saw this.
@Sherry Drum GE or Frigidaire?
Buried I think.
Why not just let Hank rest, no more can be done for him, he's gone to his reward.
I give up. why not? maybe because he is missed.
Randall, Hank is my all time favourite performer, and if anyone wants to tell me what he had for breakfast any particular day I am interested.
@@stewartfenton7660 if only he could have lived to see exactly how big a performer he truly was. My dad loved him and george Jones, and I'm his second biggest fan. I'm saying you are number one. Ok.
@@randallhutchcraft4039 I think back then it was just, get as big a hit as you could, do as well as you could, right now. People didn't know that some were going to live on, like Hank has. And let's face it, if he hadn't died, would he be such a legend? I like to think so, but Lefty, who also had that extra, indefinable thing, didn't really survive the changing fashions and is now really known only to hardcore fans, I would say.
Number one fan, though, no, there's always plenty more expert on Hank than me. But I've listened to him all through the years, right through when I was a Rock'nRoll fanatic, never stopped playing Hank. He just won't go away, as somebody said. And I don't want him to.
@@stewartfenton7660 you are all truly blessed to have loved such a great man
This guy sounds creepy!
I wish Mr. Tyree was still around. So much I wish I had asked him at the time I did this recording. It was very impromptu in a way. He was most gracious. I think I did a short one about a year after this at a Christmas party there at the assisted living place. He seem to enjoy the children. Some parents brought their kids up to meet him.
R I P Hank Williams Sr and Joe Tyree. You were in good hands Hank and still are now.
This gentleman he must have been a young boy by not knowing who Hank Williams was. Hank at that time he was at the top of his career. The hillbilly Shakespeare. R.I.P Hank Sr 🎶🎵
No. Probably 30s.
Next video to watch "Interview with the guy that pumped gas into Hank's Cadillac on the night he died"..man, thats a clue you need to get a life.
just taking a break from all the brain surgery and unlocking the mysteries of the universe ... chill. relax. let go let God.
