    You have almost a thousand players in the server? That's impressive!

      Yes! For being almost 4 months old it's extremely active and still teaming with government and personal builds.

    Music has hints of late '70s early '80s funk. Nice!
    As always, love the pop-ups.
    Property advice (no charge): Buy everything you land on, Baltic Ave. to Boardwalk. You're welcome.
    Carry on, Oearth!

    Hey there :)
    There is another option to open the popup of any vehicle's deed that doesn't involve shiftclicking. Open the cart normally, then click on the name of the owner in that window. This will open up the vehicle's deed window.
    Cheers and thanks so much for the video!

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      Once you've joined the server, when you open the game you can go to Your Worlds, highlight DadSpeed, and see info about it including the Discord Channel on the righthand panel. :) Glad to have you!!

    Does this approach also work for forcibly unclaiming chunks within a deed and refunding the land claim papers?

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 2 lety

      I think it depends upon what triggers and conditions are set for your law that transfers ownership. I think you’d be able to enact it at any time and give authority to some trustworthy person that’s given that kind of power. I will also say that in the version upgrades since this video I think some of the mechanics around the gear options I showed might of changed, but even right now our server uses this fundamental mechanism to reclaim properties, so it still works.

    • @TatharNuar
      @TatharNuar Před 2 lety

      @@Oearth I saw something from a dev about an older version basically saying that property transfers don't refund land claim papers, which wouldn't really work for the problem I'm trying to solve

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 2 lety

      I think I get what you’re saying now. “By “refunding” you mean something that ‘refunds’ the papers back to the original owner, then probably applies claims from the new owners inventory. It doesn’t happen by default when a property is transferred, but you could sort of do it with a law associated with, or part of, the transfer mechanism where it counts the number of claims on the property, the pays the original owner an amount of credits the claims are worth on the market - then the person could buy the papers back from the government store or something…at least it would be some compensation.

    This helped a lot, the server I'm on atm is set for 7 days inactive to go to abandoned, we have active players wanting to go on RL vacations for more than a week is there a way to make a demo that they can sit in till they are back to avoid being placed in abandoned?

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +1

      Absolutely. You can make your own demographic that still counts the number of days inactive - you can call it the Vacay Demo or something, Then, set the duration you want (2 weeks, 3 weeks?) and any actions that are taken against that new demographic. It doesn’t have to be the abandoned demographic that comes by default.

  • @Zuaquim1
    @Zuaquim1 Před 3 lety +2

    How are you choosing who will be the owner of each property?

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +3

      That's the "big question" stated at the end, but in short, they initially become government property where the contents can be disposed of properly, and the land claims removed to free the space for any player via normal land claiming means, or alternatively sold or auctioned land, contents, and all at a fair market value, but those are very expensive and more rare.

  • @darkvoid1870
    @darkvoid1870 Před 3 lety +1

    i tried this law on a server i am on.. and when i go to an abandoned property and try to click on the gear nothing happens. I have the law set exactly how you have it in the video. Was there a change recently that changed how this is done?

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety

      There was! Very recently with 9.3. Not sure if its a bug that will get fixed, or something more permanent. What we've had to do is change the trigger and conditions. It's a little convoluted and probably best explained in another video!, but we made a single special government district with government-only permissions, and put a little limestone otter on it. The trigger is now interacting with the Otter. A second district get overlaid on top of the abandoned property to reclaim. When we interact with the otter it transfers the overlaid abandon property to a government official. That's kind of the short of it - it gets around not being able to interact with the cog wheel. See if that helps!

  • @ryverbeam811
    @ryverbeam811 Před 3 lety

    I mean, the government could seize the abandoned property and sell it to the citizens. That would then provide the government with more funds for projects, like bridges or buildings, that provide incentives for economic circulation. Of course, I'm not sure if that would work well or not. I'm not that familiar with economics yet.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +2

      That was the "larger discussion" mentioned at the end, and a bit more complex both physically and economically to keep things balanced; many variables. First step is to get control of the property, and the government has no authority to seize anything in the game innately, you need to build it into the game as described. On some servers, the admin probably is "the government" so the lines get blurred there, but that could also be an conflict of interest, and I guess part of this video - to set up a mechanism that is more organic and voted on by the people, rather than the ' magic actions' of an admin. :) Good discussion promoting question!

    • @Oearth

      That’s good , as long as there nothing left behind of your belongings...which is the continuation!

    you need an auction house for abandoned items and land.

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 3 lety +1

      That was part of the what was mentioned at the end as the “larger question”. :) First step is to get control of the property and do that in a way which is organic within the game and doesn’t require the “magic wand”’ of the admin. Auctions are 1 of several solutions.

    Is there a command to do this as admin?

    • @Oearth
      @Oearth  Před 4 měsíci

      There are various kinds of admin commands to delete an object, transfer ownership, and such, but it probably just as much if not more manual - there's no *poof* button to automatically remove and handle an abandoned player's objects, properties, and built blocks. Some also feel that admin intervention also takes away from the 'in-game' and player-led mechanics for having to deal with abandoned players as another socio-economic challenge.
