I started out with a firewall build but quickly got a starfall coronet from the seasonal questline and switched to using meteor because it had the 2 charges, 0 mana cost, and I could cast it every 5 seconds. Worked great. Switched to chain lightning when I found the pants but very quickly found another starfall coronet that was a huge upgrade. So now I'm doing a hybrid chain lightning/meteor build and it absolutely wrecks. I do run into some mana regen issues but when that happens I just cast meteor until I have enough mana to start chain lightning again. I know it's not the ideal build but it's actually been really fun. I kill nightmare dungeons bosses so fast it's almost laughable. I haven't seen many people talking about meteor but starfall coronet combined with aspect of shattered stars actually works really well for those big groups of mobs in helltides. May not be great for endgame but for leveling it's working quite well.

I did meteor last season and can’t wait to really try it again this season. Made it to 100 the day before the new season, so didn’t really get to get into it
I've been using the chain lightning build and it was great. But...... I just got a Staff of Endless Rage AND Gloves of the Illuminator to drop at the same time after an infernal hordes run. I quickly swapped everything over to a fireball build and HOLY HELL this absolutely devastates. A total night and day difference in DPS. This absolutely mops the floor with the chain lightning build I was just using.
Thanks for this man. The thing I find the hardest is starting fresh each season and having to figure out/choose the build to get you going with no gear. You always make it simple.
Planned on leveling with chain lightning, and upon entering WT3 I got the charged bolts staff that was +900 for me, so for now I’m using charged bolts and one shotting everything in WT3. Once I get higher lvl I’ll start working back towards chain lightning but charged bolts is fun for now

I have a lvl40 staff and I still haven’t switched over to chain lightning yet at lvl 64 and I’m still nuking in world tier 4. I don’t have any enchants yet and I’m not even wearing ancestral gear yet either
I tried switching to chain lightning early with sacred and it sucked. I switched back to firewall, leveled and got some T4 gear. I switched to chain lightning again and it was godly. No idea what was wrong the first time, maybe I was missing an important affix or I imprinted something wrong or I didnt have enough tempers. My recommendation would be to only switch if you have full ancient gear
I’m playing Northwar’s variant « Leveling to 100 » no unique pants. Damage are good if you temper your gear but the build basically do damage only when you have barrier up or your ultimate.
Mana issue of chain lighting & conduit pants can be solved preety easy. I just switched my chain Lightning to produce cracklings instead of +30% dmg. Works great for leveling Just need a passive that gives 12mana per crackling that has been picked up
I just went with incinerate and hydras because it was good early. Its still insane with the new incinerate wand adding small heatseeking missiles. Plus you have new aspects adding a bigger hit to incinerate when it first hits an enemy. You also have increasing damage reduction and damage while standing still. Plus burning gives you mana and heals you for 1% of your max hp every time you deal burning damage, so unless i get onehit im not dying. And with the flame shield enchantment, you basically cant die because it activates instead, and make you immune. Sorc feels very strong so far. Farming helltide in WT4 at level 55. I suspect the standing still style gameplay will be a problem later, but right now its awesome.
I haven’t gotten any uniques for my CL build but I have gotten the good legendaries. It feels pretty good. Mobs aren’t melting which is how I like to level (easy game can be too easy). Mana has not been an issue and I enchanted spark and firebolt for burning (warmth OP) and lots of crackling energy
Only thing is , using firewall on console has the downside of no aiming. Surprised blizzard has not made this better actually. Everytime I wanna put down a firewall right in front of me, it throws it 20 feet in front of me past the enemy's... If I could ever have a request for this game , is for better console aiming for skills somehow
Yeah it auto locks if you click your right stick and makes it close to godly imo . You can also toggle enemies with the right joystick but I’ve found it difficult to do this efficiently
I've been playing Necro Season 0-4 and only switched to Sorc this season due to how bad the changes to Necro were, as well as how little variety between Builds Necro has. I don't know how Sorc was before this season, but it's been wild. Level 25 Sorc already genuinely feelt smoother and more fun than any endgame Necro build ever did. And going to 100 it just got better and better at that. All the skills are so quick and snappy. You got mobility. You got so much easily accessible Damage Reduction that it's coming out of your ears. So much less APM for so much better results. No clunky crap like spotting corpses, waiting for Tendril pulls, timing Flesh-Eater, having to hit with Bone Sorm+Shielding for barrier.. stuff just works. I absolutely love Necromancer thematically and play it in every game featuring it, but without a major rework to it, idk if I can ever go back to that gameplay after experiencing Sorc and likely upcoming Spiritborne.
Glad I'm not the only one who feels that. My last two seasons my only lvl 100s were Necromancers and this one I'm thinking it's going to be a Sorc. My Necros just don't feel the same, something is now lacking though I don't know what. Anywho, going to be fun either way!

Please ask Northwar to pay more attention to the accuracy of his guides. There are a number of discrepancies between the different sections. For example, end-game itemization showing different tempers between the visual layout and the itemized priorities. Or, on the FB build, recommending to level Control first and second to 21, only to then not even include it in the final paragon board.

ive been running fireball since i was level 25, im loving it. only in my mid 70s now, glad to know it stays viable. i got a 925 endless rage with ga fireball speed, and it feels really good
Glad to hear the advice not to switch to chain lightning early. I was really upset with its performance during leveling - almost no damage and always out of mana. Later I came to the conclussion this is probably due to lack of building skills, however these are the tricks which were very helpfull for me 1) go temper early 1.1) choose gain recource on lucky hit where possible 1.2) for everything else choose damage to distant 2) invest heavily into lucky hit chance (skill tree + gear). 3) lucky hit + temper + codex based on maxroll helped heavily with mana drain 3) asa mana drain solved, focus on crit chance + atack speed to be able to consume mana faster than it replenishes. 4) do not hurry with switching off fireball passive early, it will help a lot with packs I have done these steps on lvl 55 since I switched to t4 and felt desperate on how misarable I was, especually with my damage. and crushed into lvl 70 in no time after investing into described above points. I also think chain lightning is frustrating build for level up and it should be lowered to tier A, or maxroll should increase its difficulty on their description and emphasise heavily on how gear dependant this build is.

I found yesterday the Harlequin Crest helmet at lvl 56 with my sorcerer for the first time ever in D4. I play the lightning sorcerer with mixed gear, it works so far well on W3. Thank you for this explanation. I've been using the Chain Lightning guide but have been struggling hard with bosses. Trash basically doesn't exist with the build but bosses take forever. I'll try swapping to different pants on boss fights until I figure out the mana situation. Cheers 🍻
The fire sorceress using Incinerate with the 3 prong codex is an unstoppable beast. I finally played a whole fire sorceress last season and loved it. I'm trying to to a lightening sorceress but it seems Druid is better spec'd to use lightening. Fire is exemplary for sorceress.
Yea man, not many people speaking on incinerate but it's what I lvl'd from 1-100 and now absolutely stomping all high tier content. My gear is mid at best and we hitting up to 100mil ticks on bosses.
I was running chain lightning early on because of the aspects and items I got early. Wasn't feeling the build so I switched to frozen orb. Was getting frustrated because that's the build I wanted to play but wasn't getting the gear and aspects. First NM dungeon I ran got winterglass! Totally got me going. Now I'm looking for trouble and enjoying the carnage! Ready for waves of hell!

If you don't have the mana solved, chain lightning from WT4-100 can be a pretty bad experience (think werenado without a tempest roar). I would highly suggest fireball as soon as you get the staff and gloves.
I had so much fun doing incinerate/hydra last season I did it again as a first character this season. Now that you can have all those hydra heads it's even better.
Firewall is cool, but I changed Inferno due to long cooldown for meteor as I have the unique head that gives me 4 ranks of meteor and others buffs to that skill and now it's even better to lvl up
Nice video! I started with Firewall and at level 50 hopped to Chain Lightning. It's really fun. Indeed it's a pity we don't get a tier 4 Sigil when entering T4.
Fireball is insanely strong:) I respec to it as soon as i got gloves/staff which means lv75 in my case and went to the infernal hordes dung with lv100 mobs. I earned 444 aether solo... Just staff/gloves + basic tempers + tal rasha which i got farming for staff.
Would love to see some good options for Necro builds. I’ve been playing Minions which really destroys most pieces of content, but seems to struggle specifically with the Infernal Hordes. I guess the nonstop nature of the mode means I can’t take the time to recover my minions if they die, and the mobs can kinda overwhelm me. Probably can get better gear, but I’m out here clearing tormented Duriel and Andariel in 30 seconds and still struggling to just survive against level 160 mobs in Hordes.
Frozen spear is insanely fun to play. Seems like there are 2 variants, one actually maxes orb and tempers chance for orb to cast twice , and the other one just takes 1 point orb and tempers chance for lightning spear to cast twice. In the beginning it’s a bit hard to get your unstable currents off cooldown, I think you need a shako for that and possibly temper unstable current cdr on rings. Northwars guide said to temper lightning spear cdr so I went with that.
@@youngwang5546 from some people I've talked to and watched they run cooldown for lightning spear over unstable. The main reason unstable is used is if you don't have fractured I heard. They were able to spam lightning spear ability because winterglass gives cooldowns for conjuration spells
@@christopherkappenman6435 yep I went for lightning spear cooldown temper! I’m not using unstable just yet, I’ve found better success manually casting ice blades to help lower all my cooldowns and make things run better. Once I get more cdr I think unstable will be good to use.
I think pure lightning, spear build is going to become the way. I'm doing something similar to Northwar's and the AE damage is insane. But I feel like I'm leaving some single target damage on the table. Someone will beat me to figuring it out.
playing the bouncy balls, its so much fun > doing the malignant heart spam on world tier 3 (4-5times) helped me get the 2 key items very quick and to move on to world tier 4

Chain lightning without the pants is a nothing build because it does no damage. The CL build at 50 is bullshit. Why isn't incinerate ever mentioned by Raxx or on maxroll?
thanks mate. I started Chain L.. changed the paragon and some aspects, still running it. It's super fun, well until you get to the boss. I'm still lvl 92 and under geared but the mana management does kill the fun a little. I might try the FB as I already have some decent items in stash for it and maybe come back to CL once I get better gear.
I've been trying the chain lightning build and it feels weak. I'm sure the unique and paragon helps, but for leveling, cl just really doesn't do damage in comparison to other builds.
True, still suprised to see it in S tier for leveling. Really gear dependant and time consuming on managing mana issues, while leveling is all about xp per hour imo
As an update, I sealed to a fireball, firewall, and hydra build, and that build dies so much better than the cl build while leveling. Hydra damage is insane this season, I literally just walk through nightmare dungeons, and they do all the work. Once I got the fireball gloves and staff, the build just gets that much better
I opened with flurry rogue into shred Druid after work this week and am gonna try playing a incinerate firewall spec of some sort this weekend Haven’t played hardcore since d3 but I’ve started again this season and am hooked like before lol

I tempered my hydras to doing 75% more damage , and I throw them things out and they just delete everything..those have been carrying me lol they're cool as shit
hey Raxx, did you try to min-max incinerate build ? I feel like it needs some buffs compared to other Sorc builds, but I did amazing leveling up with it, had troubles reaching lvl5 tier content thou. I'm ready to give it another go, since its the build that gives me most fun, beaming lasers of fire. Just a quick questions I needed answers to to get me ahead: 1. 2-handed staff with flamethrower or Flamescar and good focus to support it 2. most important stats ? damage over time, crit damage ? 3. boosting intelligence vs ranks of Incinerate ? p.s - anyone can join and give their oppinion :)
I started with Firewall but I did not like the DoT of fire, so I switched to Chain lighting when I was lvl50 (also found chain lightning aspects along the way). Then I found an axial conduit when doing the seasonal quest lol.
I didn’t get a single chain lightning piece after the whole seasonal story. I must be insanely unlucky. However I did get the firebolt gloves that make your firebolt do extra and expand when going through firewall. It is very good even at level 80 and I’m frying
OMG THAT's why my chain lightning build felt bricked... I didn't get the gloves. I actually had to spec into hydra to be able to kill bosses at all! I think I'm gonna respec to firewall until i get all 3/3 pieces needed for chain lightning to work correctly!
the gloves are only good if you reach breakpoints for mana and cooldown, otherwise +3 well rolled leg gloves are way better. the build just needs some practice, mana and cooldown^^ fells good for clear but bosses are not fun once you reach higher dungeons
lightning spear is actually bait. without correct GAs and masterworks it cant even farm nmd100 (it can clear well, but the boss takes 10minutes), which means it also cant farm pit60 without a ton of investment. it slaps in helltides though.
The guide makes it explicitly clear multiple times the build only functions well when CDR is peaked out with high rolls/GAs in that stat and Masterworking lol

One thing that I really dont like on chain lightning: it fizzles on destroyable walls. You just dont do any dmg there.

If you are leveling and lack damage, TEMPER YOUR GEAR! You will start deleting everything and it costs very little. Temper early and often!

I'm full Incinerate with the Aspect on my 2-h Staff that splits it into 3 beams which for my 80% versions bumps them all to 160%. Everything melts.

I never wear pants while playing Diablo. My neighbors called the cops when I stood too close to the window.

I did the second capstone with my chain lightning build at level 50 also. Blasted through it to my surprise.
That firewall / firebolt build absolutely melts I did a tier 3 infernal horde at 70 😂
I was running chain lightning early on because of the aspects and items I got early. Wasn't feeling the build so I switched to frozen orb. Was getting frustrated because that's the build I wanted to play but wasn't getting the gear and aspects. First NM dungeon I ran got winterglass! Totally got me going. Now I'm looking for trouble and enjoying the carnage! Ready for waves of hell!
Currently rocking the chain lightning build, the leveling version. Super fun.
The uber unique ring starless must be a GOD item for chain lightining. Cant wait to try it.
Chain Lighting wants Resource generation, not Cost reduction, which as far as I'm aware doesn't affect Axial Conduit.
@@asum7786 but 50% cost reduction from the ring can be good. Theory looks awesome. Will have to wait until someone try this or maybe i can try if RNGjesus is at my side.
The procs will take more time (as it needs to drain certain mana).
So RCR is bad, but MANA per sec combined with RG are amazing.
@@groom84 yeah. I tried yesterday. Dont have the uber unique, but eveything else. RCR is not that good. Mana per second much better.

I have to agree with you on fighting higher level monsters never seen a change in exp going up fast.

If you don't have the mana solved, chain lightning from WT4-100 can be a pretty bad experience (think werenado without a tempest roar). I would highly suggest fireball as soon as you get the staff and gloves.
But which ones more dps?
I had so much fun doing incinerate/hydra last season I did it again as a first character this season. Now that you can have all those hydra heads it's even better.
I'm using hydra's, incinerate, frost nova, ice shield and inferno as an ultimate. Been fun so far leveling 😃
Firewall is cool, but I changed Inferno due to long cooldown for meteor as I have the unique head that gives me 4 ranks of meteor and others buffs to that skill and now it's even better to lvl up
Nice video! I started with Firewall and at level 50 hopped to Chain Lightning. It's really fun. Indeed it's a pity we don't get a tier 4 Sigil when entering T4.
You can gigchad capstone 3 w/fire wall build. With max resis/DOT temper and DOT gear with ATK speed. Used this method till lvl 77
Plus I was able to do T55 nmds
Also, the new staff of Lam Esen totally rocks. Charged bolts is totally a build now.
Fireball is insanely strong:) I respec to it as soon as i got gloves/staff which means lv75 in my case and went to the infernal hordes dung with lv100 mobs. I earned 444 aether solo... Just staff/gloves + basic tempers + tal rasha which i got farming for staff.
Started with barb this season. Saw a short of you with the sorc. Switched. Now im having a blast
I'm incinerate still at level 60, changed to a better build tho. Looking forward to switching to fireball.
Another great leveling build is Incinerate. Super easy and fun to level.

I’ve been playing Minions which really destroys most pieces of content, but seems to struggle specifically with the Infernal Hordes.
I guess the nonstop nature of the mode means I can’t take the time to recover my minions if they die, and the mobs can kinda overwhelm me. Probably can get better gear, but I’m out here clearing tormented Duriel and Andariel in 30 seconds and still struggling to just survive against level 160 mobs in Hordes.
Frozen spear is insanely fun to play. Seems like there are 2 variants, one actually maxes orb and tempers chance for orb to cast twice , and the other one just takes 1 point orb and tempers chance for lightning spear to cast twice. In the beginning it’s a bit hard to get your unstable currents off cooldown, I think you need a shako for that and possibly temper unstable current cdr on rings. Northwars guide said to temper lightning spear cdr so I went with that.
@@youngwang5546 from some people I've talked to and watched they run cooldown for lightning spear over unstable. The main reason unstable is used is if you don't have fractured I heard. They were able to spam lightning spear ability because winterglass gives cooldowns for conjuration spells
@@christopherkappenman6435 yep I went for lightning spear cooldown temper! I’m not using unstable just yet, I’ve found better success manually casting ice blades to help lower all my cooldowns and make things run better. Once I get more cdr I think unstable will be good to use.
I think pure lightning, spear build is going to become the way. I'm doing something similar to Northwar's and the AE damage is insane. But I feel like I'm leaving some single target damage on the table. Someone will beat me to figuring it out.
Currently working on Lightning Spear, at level 70, and I can already tell this is going to be super saiyan scary. Oh baby baby, I’m so excited.
I was tinkering with that one and didn't have most the gear I needed and it was still kicking pretty hard. Can't wait until I get the gear!
Did the same but boss fight are terrible higher lvl, i changed for frozen spear instead, it is fun, mana effecient and powerful nough

Firewall is crazy from level 1-50, I did wt3 capstone at level 23 and wt4 capstone at level 31 pretty easily
playing the bouncy balls, its so much fun > doing the malignant heart spam on world tier 3 (4-5times) helped me get the 2 key items very quick and to move on to world tier 4

Gonna respec in to Fireball tonight, I dropped both of those uniques. Looks like some fun cheese while I gather gear.

I am using firewall build from max roll some errors in build like frost nova listed in rotation. But I can kill 20 levels above me I am 80 easy.
Chain lightning without the pants is a nothing build because it does no damage. The CL build at 50 is bullshit. Why isn't incinerate ever mentioned by Raxx or on maxroll?

Same reason for Charged bolts.
Check icyveins too. They have more build variety. They dont focus only on overpower build like maxroll.

thanks mate. I started Chain L.. changed the paragon and some aspects, still running it. It's super fun, well until you get to the boss. I'm still lvl 92 and under geared but the mana management does kill the fun a little. I might try the FB as I already have some decent items in stash for it and maybe come back to CL once I get better gear.
I've been trying the chain lightning build and it feels weak. I'm sure the unique and paragon helps, but for leveling, cl just really doesn't do damage in comparison to other builds.

True, still suprised to see it in S tier for leveling. Really gear dependant and time consuming on managing mana issues, while leveling is all about xp per hour imo
As an update, I sealed to a fireball, firewall, and hydra build, and that build dies so much better than the cl build while leveling. Hydra damage is insane this season, I literally just walk through nightmare dungeons, and they do all the work. Once I got the fireball gloves and staff, the build just gets that much better
I opened with flurry rogue into shred Druid after work this week and am gonna try playing a incinerate firewall spec of some sort this weekend

I tempered my hydras to doing 75% more damage , and I throw them things out and they just delete everything..those have been carrying me lol they're cool as shit

I've been a day one sorc, and the chain lightning build with the axial pants is the most fun I've ever had with sorc with blizzard a close second.

hey Raxx, did you try to min-max incinerate build ? I feel like it needs some buffs compared to other Sorc builds, but I did amazing leveling up with it, had troubles reaching lvl5 tier content thou.
I'm ready to give it another go, since its the build that gives me most fun, beaming lasers of fire.
Just a quick questions I needed answers to to get me ahead:
1. 2-handed staff with flamethrower or Flamescar and good focus to support it
2. most important stats ? damage over time, crit damage ?
3. boosting intelligence vs ranks of Incinerate ?
p.s - anyone can join and give their oppinion :)
I started with Firewall but I did not like the DoT of fire, so I switched to Chain lighting when I was lvl50 (also found chain lightning aspects along the way). Then I found an axial conduit when doing the seasonal quest lol.
I just got the fireball gloves... I'm so stoked... Now to get that staff...
1.Firewall for leveling
2.Fireball for gear-farming
3.End-game> lightning spear

I started with firewall, but as a controller player, firewall placements are so bad. Hydras carried me till i got chain lightning uniques.
Axial conduit is one of the coolest uniques ive ever used in an arpg.
I didn’t get a single chain lightning piece after the whole seasonal story. I must be insanely unlucky. However I did get the firebolt gloves that make your firebolt do extra and expand when going through firewall. It is very good even at level 80 and I’m frying
Was running axial conduit got the Winterglass & respecced to froz orb/spear it is so much fun ... Picked up fireball gear might run that as alt build

I just hit lvl 70 switching from chain lightning to fireball and man its nuts way stronger
OMG THAT's why my chain lightning build felt bricked... I didn't get the gloves. I actually had to spec into hydra to be able to kill bosses at all! I think I'm gonna respec to firewall until i get all 3/3 pieces needed for chain lightning to work correctly!
the gloves are only good if you reach breakpoints for mana and cooldown, otherwise +3 well rolled leg gloves are way better. the build just needs some practice, mana and cooldown^^ fells good for clear but bosses are not fun once you reach higher dungeons

lightning spear is actually bait. without correct GAs and masterworks it cant even farm nmd100 (it can clear well, but the boss takes 10minutes), which means it also cant farm pit60 without a ton of investment. it slaps in helltides though.

The guide makes it explicitly clear multiple times the build only functions well when CDR is peaked out with high rolls/GAs in that stat and Masterworking lol

I found a decent pair of gloves for Fireball (-3%) with one GA (attack speed) so when I find the Staff, I'll respec. Looks like fun :D
I've been running a Hydra build with Frozen orb proc for Vulnerable. I have 8 Hydra heads per Hydra and i am melting everything and it looks cool!
also the only sorc build with boss damage lolol
should make a video on what to do between the gap of reaching lvl 100 and killing lilith pushing pit etc
