one of the greatest twelve tone pieces ever written

  • @CarlosAugustoScalassaraPrando

Love this dodecaphonic piece... This piece was my inspiration for composing my 5 miniatures for piano.

Innovativa per le sonorità,quaderno musicale attraente per le dissonanze che meritano uno studio ferreo. Grazie al maestro Canino per l’esecuzione magistrale!

Probably next to a few works be Webern, this is one of, if not, the best and most accessible piece to dive into the world of 12-tone music either to study or to enjoy. Number 3 is close to my heart because of how easy the row is to find and the ways you can manipulate a row and the music itself is quiet yet serene with a beautiful "resolution".

Sadly not widely-recorded, but I'd put Hanns Jelinek out there as a composer of extremely accessible twelve-tone music. I only discovered him from an LP at my uni library, though, and I can barely find recordings of his stuff online

One of the few pieces that feels "perfect" to me.

This music sounds like how I'd imagine late-Lizst would approach dodecaphony.

this is so charming that is hard to believe it's coming out of 12 tone system :)

I disliked serialism, twelve-tone, and bad dissonance in college. 30 years later, I still dislike it. Some things don’t change. But this one is different. It's so good to my ears.

      Why do you dislike?
For me all dissonance are amazing dissonance, I don't believe in bad or good dissonance. Hehehe

Check out other works by Dallapiccola, for example Canti di Prigionia. Also, the music of Nikos Skalkottas (and of course Berg) might be interesting to you
