I abandoned using Google maps on my Android head unit as it requires online data to enable traffic and camera alarms. I changed to Sygic which provides all and more navigation requirements than Google maps WITHOUT being on line, totally GPS driven and far superior
Sir Roy you can explained to me how you change gps I don't like Google map.
@@jj-re4td Just go to play store and download the apk. In the head unit settings there is the one where you set NAVIGATION program (software) and when you go in there, after you install the sygic, there would be maps and sygic. You just select sygic and then it will be default navigation software. Problem with gmaps is that they are programmed for phone and they relay on user to go to calibration option to swivel to "calibrate" gps, but why in other software like waze (owned by google), sygic, here we go is not necessary?

i tried to use this version of maps because unit can't handle latest version, lagging way too much but it's forcing me to update the app, is there any way to bypass that message.

Mine headunits GPS is not working.. I can't find any satellite.. Not working neither gmaps or other apps.. I believe that there is no built-in GPS in my device.. Any suggestions?
Just ordered mine does it use the data from a mobile or the attached GPS cable for Google maps and how does it update maps?

I think this video may have just answered my issue. So the unit has a gps module connected but currently I only get mapping when my phone is Wi-Fi tethered so I assume this means it’s mirroring the phone and only using that?
I have to set up the unit to recognise the gps module which is what your showing? Thanks
you need to have Mobil hot spot
To avoid wifi, u can download an offline map on google maps and it will give u directions without needing wifi. Obviously no wifi updates such as traffic jams, construction or police sightings on the road (map is offline unless ur wifi hotspot'd)

Maybe because of the chipset
