If you are a couple, its better that the person with the higher paycheck pays the bills and the person with the lower paycheck save it! I and my wife did this for 5yrs and saved over 80% for our first home. It just takes discipline!!

My wife and I make about $60/year. We've saved almost 60K in the last five years. Made A LOT of sacrifices, meaning all tax return go straight to saving acct. If rent and other utility bills arent due, those money go straight to savings. I haven't bought a pair of new shoes in about two years, my wife never complains of needing a new purse. Seeing that money goes up monthly is really motivating. We're starting the house buying process once we reach about $85K cash and we should be there by end of 2021. Cant wait... need a nice house though once all is said and done

So far, I have been building my savings, tracking my spend cent by cent, paying off my credit card, and allocating money for various expenses outside of my regular bills.
