Its so refreshing to see someone who's not using self-deprecating humor for the sake of being liked or whatever, im so tired of people putting themselves down and saying the most horrible, heartbreaking things to themselves. I love a confident queen! And you're absolutely right, you looked STUNNING.
I got married nearly 5 years ago. I went to David's Bridal and I had a pretty decent experience (I hate shopping in any capacity). My mom and bestie were supposed to go but my bestie got strep and my mom canceled. My now brother-in-law said "girl, I can't let you go wedding dress shopping by yourself!" so he went with me! I had a few dresses picked out but he saw one dress in a book that I was for sure thinking I wasn't going to like. I tried his pick on first and ended up walking out with it! I love being able to tell people he picked out my dress - it's an unconventional story for sure! Whatever your dress looks like, you'll be a stunningly beautiful bride!
My one piece of advice for people wedding shopping is don't be afraid to do something extra or something you think might be "too much." I was looking around on Pinterest and a "weird" trend caught my eye and spoke to me on a deep level. It connected to me. It was a dip-dyed wedding dress. I'm not joking. As I was shopping, I asked different places what they thought and nobody would do it for me. I managed to find ONE dress that was already dyed and it was the right color and that sealed the deal for me. Loved the bottom of that dress. The top wasn't right. So I kept searching, found one and then did the scariest thing I've ever done in my life. I dyed the dress myself. It turned out amazing. I was super patient with it and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Break free of traditions. Don't let your family control aspects of your wedding. If you think the flower toss is gross, don't do it. If you want an orange dress, do it. If you want to not have a traditional dinner, don't. Be you. Do what you want. You will be beautiful because you will be happy and in love. People there will be so happy for you and support your choices. Your wedding day is about you and your SO and the love and support you have for each other. Surround yourself with more love and support. It's hard to go wrong there.
A bunch of celebrities have done dip dyed dresses; Gwen Stefani had a pink dip dye, I can't remember the others. They're so pretty, it's a shame they're not more common.

do you hapoen to know who made the bid dye dress originally, i think its a super cool idea and googled it and got ALOT of orange like dye colors.... i absolutely hate the color orange lol but think the odea would be stunning in maybe a lavander or pale pink lol

Omg when you mentioned David’s Bridal and going to the appointment the way you’d want to look for your wedding immediately made me remember going there for my prom dress in sweats and a messy bun because I had the same thought process of “if it’s the right dress i’d look beautiful regardless”.... I cried at the end of the visit thinking I just wasn’t made for prom dresses and I’ll never find one 😂 NEVER DOING THAT AGAIN!

I’m sooo happy with the style I picked! It was actually a ivory bridesmade dress only $180 and was just a flowy, strapless dress with a little crystal cluster on my waist very simple but I wanted it to be timeless and I feel like it really was!
The other dress I LOVED was tool and the top was allll crystals it was so sparkly and amazing like insane! but it was $2500 and my wedding was tiny it wouldn’t have really gone

Happy anniversary! My wedding dress journey was similar to yours. It was a "prom/special events" dress for $250. Champagne/gold color with sequins and spaghetti straps. I found it in the first shop I went to. I feel like sometimes the difference between a wedding dress and a regular dress is just the price tag!

We got married this June! We hadn’t planned a big wedding, but we had to have no guests - it was just us two, the celebrant and a photographer! I had bought a wedding dress (for all of €160!) but it needed to be altered, and I kind of wanted to keep the white dress for when we can eventually have a wedding celebration, so I wore a grey €20 dress from ASOS 😂 I sewed pockets into it!
We got married on the cliffs of Moher, during a weather warning, so the grey matched the weather very well!

Fun fact: five years ago I went with my sister for her wedding dress appointment at David’s bridal, saw the third dress shown on a mannequin at the front of the store, loved it SO MUCH that I still have the tag number saved to my phone so that if it’s still around when I get married it can be the first dress I try on

Would you consider (maybe after the wedding) talking about wedding traditions you used and ones you weren’t on board with? Personally I don’t love what veils represent but also they’re SO PRETTY. I am kind of feeling a wedding cape moment to replace a veil.

True story: when I was dress shopping I had a list of dresses to look at (David’s Bridal in Tacoma) and they went out of their way to let me try on my dream dress knowing I couldn’t afford it. They were the sweetest people.
I heard that trying on the dream dress, if it’s outside of the budget, is such a bad idea because brides will either go over budget in order to purchase it or not feel truly happy with their in-budget choice. What was your experience??

Just wanted to say that I’m literally on the other side of the globe and your videos help me a lot to cope with anxiety so idk if u know the impact you have, a legend
in the distant future (I'm 17 lol) I want to make my own wedding dress. I sew a lot and I make most of my own clothes (and it doesn't save money... good fabric is expensive) because I have a very particular style that I just can't find in stores. I really want a fitted bodice, a skirt shape modeled after the late 1890s, and long sleeves and a high neck (main fabric would be cut as a strapless dress but I'd have a semi-sheer fabric that came up to my neck and made up my sleeves). Lots of lace, some satin and organza and playing with fabric weaves but absolutely zero glitter/gems/anything hard and shiny. Yes, I'm a historical fashion geek, and honestly, I just want an antique 1890s or Edwardian wedding treasseu but alas that probably isn't going to happen.

God you'd think they'd have better lighting in a bridal gown shop. Then ppl would see how good the pictures came out & it'll make them want to buy from them.
I was plus sized when I got married and I literally had hardly any dresses I could try on that would go anywhere near me in the shops. Every shop has a UK size 12 sample for trying and only one shop I could find had plus sized dresses. I ended up being about a UK size 22 when I got married but I was bigger than than when I started trying dresses. I ended up with a silver dress, as I got married in the millennium and I loved it, but I still regret not being able to try on lots of dresses like you did. You are so lucky to be able to do that. My favourite was the all over satin one with the silver belt.
My family lives in Rochester and we went to a David’s Bridal to look for my cousin’s dress and bridesmaid dresses and the consultant totally fat shamed my 10 year old cousin (we’re a family of plus size ladies) and made her cry. So even though they had a lot of sizes our experience was really bad there 😖

Oh god you made me start obsessing over my wedding again. I went through a phase at the beginning of quarantine where I was literally obsessed with my wedding, I was pinning on pinterest constantly, I researched (and found) my venue, I figured out what kind of dress I want (you've made me not so sure that I know what I want though with how you said you also thought you knew what you wanted but didn't like those things)

so many people i know just said fuck it and got married during the pandemic, they just went to the courthouse no acttual ceremony/reception. seriously i know like 5 couples and counting who got married, and some of them were long time partners so i think corona put things into perspective
Less about perspective and more about concern about spending thousands during a time when income is shaky for many people, and who knows if the date they would have chosen will even end up working of it we'll all be in lockdown until 2022 and countless of us are dead from ending out lives to get out of this hellhole of house arrest for the foreseeable future. (No matter your views, anyone who doesn't feel pressure from being stuck at home is lying. It's mentally destroying even people who think we should be required by law to stay inside our walls.)
Definitely put things into perspective for me.16 years with my SO. Getting married (finally!!) in a very small ceremony on Halloween. Also my dad is getting up in age with a bad heart and I cannot even picture getting married without him there to walk me down the aisle.

I used to work at David's Bridal and absolutely loved my job because I got to make EVERY bride feel beautiful because like you said, it was very size inclusive! So important for making your bride feel confident and excited about the big day. However, you are absolutely right about it sometimes being chaotic in the store. TIPS: best to go sometime throughout the week (avoid weekends if possible) and make an appointment the day before so the consultant knows ahead of time! It is also super helpful, if you know, to give them a description of what you want in the dress when you call so they have an idea of where to start. Definitely have pictures on hand so you don't waste time in your appointment! REGARDLESS, FOR BRIDES: Try on everything you want so you know and feel settled about the dress. It's a special moment and don't settle for anything less than perfect! 💕
Isn’t it funny how we think we know what we want and then once you start trying dresses on you realize you have no idea what you want?! When I got my dress I was ✨convinced✨ that I was going to buy a full lace long sleeve gown and walked out with a full satin strapless mermaid LOL

Im plus sizes & when they told me to try on a fit and flare “because you never know!” I also hated it and thought I looked so bad lol I don’t really think they need to do that for it to be a successful appointment 😂 yes, brides do pick things they didn’t think they liked all the time. But if I say “no I don’t want something form fitting because I don’t like my body” don’t make me put one on “just to see” like... no I’m pretty sure 😂

If someone is going to davids bridal the middle of the week is slow af and probably the best time to go! Also they had us stay open almost every holiday (when i was working there) and those days are dead and youd most likely get the store to yourself!

I got married 10 years ago and this brought me back to when I was shopping for my dress and the day I finally found the one. It’s something you don’t think about every day so it was nice to reminisce a bit while watching your video. I feel for all the people who had to cancel or push back their weddings too and it’s so sweet that you’re being sensitive and concerned for their feelings. I think that you should share whatever you want to about your wedding day and hopefully no one would fault you for that. It’s your big day, you should gush about it as much or as little as you want to.

I love watching other people talk about their weddings, because even though we are doing the same thing, they're all so different.
My dream dress actually does exist, its a lot more simple than I ever thought I would go with. Its the Juliet dress from Odelyne the Ceremony, because it reminds me of Padme's dress from Star Wars but with bell sleeves. Considering that I'm walking down the aisle to the Ben and Rey love theme, I thought it was pretty fitting. I found out that I actually hate super full skirts on myself, the first dress I ever tried on was something more ballgown-y and I hated it so much I almost cried. 😂
