Living on an island surrounded by the sea, Taiwanese often eat fish. But for the Chinese New Year, eating fish means more than just food. In mandarin, the pronunciation of fish "Yu" is the same as the pronunciation of "abundance". By eating the fish dishes, we hope that in the coming year, we will always have more than what we need.
The sweet and sour sauce that I featured in the video is a sauce that is used a lot in Taiwanese cuisine. It goes well with fried chicken, fried fish, or even fried pork.
If you can't fry the fish at home as shown in the video, you can simply pan-fry it before you put the sauce on it.
🛑 You can change rice alcohol with white wine, and rice vinegar with wine vinegar!
