- Dear friends,
This video shows an ILS approach into DGAA Accra in Ghana. This aircraft has a wonderful G1000NXi avionics upgrade. The aircraft is also equipped with saddle tanks that offer an additional 2 hours flight time.
A slide show rounds up this video and shows some impressions of this ferry flight from South Africa to the USA
Your comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Great procedures & landing as always - Guido the Pro! Thanks for the uploads recently, and I particularly enjoyed the meta-content - that being the gimbal-stabilisation algorithm in the camera, and the beautiful Ghanan english accent! The slideshows you are putting in at the end are great too. Much appreciated
Thank you!
I have not fully understood how the stabilization system in the GoPro works.
I think it is all electronic and no mechanical gimbal involved.
The local English required some adjustment of me as I am not a native speaker (German).

New subscriber. Actually, I think I subscibed a week or two ago but I'm bad about posting. Love your videos! I really like how you show "blow ups" of the instruments in these. Not sure what the technical version is, but so cool!!! I've always been interested in flying but never took the steps to get my PPL. Life took on a different path. I'm a retired paramedic. Decided to throw in the towel after 28 years. Cheers, and be safe!!!

Go to a local flight school and do an introduction flight with a flight instructor. You sit at the left seat.

Hello Guido, I will check out your website. Interesting to know more about how things went for you in aviation. I'm flying from Mora in Sweden ( ESKM ) Have a nice day and many safe flights to you too.
I always thought the 350 was a multi crew requirement.
That’s a big plane to be flying solo Guido. Even with your absolute professional knowledge and skills
In some charter operation, there is a multi crew requirement.
I hold a single pilot type rating for the 350 (BE300), so it is ok for ferry flights.
Compared to jets I fly also single pilot, the B350 is quite complex.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido

Impressive plane from Beech' - super avionics, PT6 turbo props, and auto throttle too! Hopefully an enjoyable flight experience. I have nearly lost count of the many platforms you have flown Guido - all that and seemingly for most part, very long ferry jobs. Another enjoyable detailed approach video - thank you. :)
Thank you Chris.
This one does not have an auto throttle.

Guido, how do you prepare for switching between so many aircraft types? Do you have to spend a bit of time re-reading the POH each time, or does it all come straight back? I would think it might be easy to accidentally have the vref, emergency procedures etc etc for a different type in your mind if not careful. Always enjoy your videos and learn great ADM from each one.
Hi Ed,
you raise an important point here.
Basically I fly 3 groups of aircrafts, that are very similar:
1) the CJ Citation Jets
2) the King Airs
3) the Cessna Caravan.
So far only a few PC12 and Piper Meridians.
If I have not flown a type for a long time, I read the training books and familiarize myself with the cockpit layout. The flying part is easy. A challenge is the avionic setup, especially on older aircraft with avionics aftermarket installations.
I budget around $30k per year for training, as I also have two ATPLs that I need to renew every 6 months: South Africa SACAA and USA FAA.
Thank you for watching my videos and supporting my CZcams channel. Please tell your friends too :-)

@@GuidoWarnecke Hello captain! I wanted you to know that I passed my IFR checkride today! On to commercial now
That's an interesting route. I figured you'd have to go farther north through Africa, Spain andup towards the UK then go the usual route that small aircraft take when crossing the Atlantic. I wouldn't have wanted to wear a gumby suit that long while over open water! Safe travels!
Thank you!
You have a good point.
When yuou fly this route westbound via the Azores in a "normal" King Air, you face 2 challenges:
1) you need an HF radio
2) you need the range to fly 1400NM against a sometimes very strong headwind
This King Air had extra (saddle) tanks and a HF radio.
Fuel for 10h+ flight.
You see the fueling of the saddle tanks on two of the photo slides following the video

Nice approach with great detailed info! I regulary fly a rental Cessna 172 with the Garmin1000 with an external autopilot (which means I have to set the QNH + altitude in both the autopilot and the Garmin1000), but the G1000 in a King Air is still at another level 🙂 Flying a Cessna Caravan 208 one day is my dream (will propably never happen but still I can dream, don't I?) but a King Air 350 is something else!
Hi Telly,
the modern C172 with the C1000 are also great aircraft.
Sometimes the autopilot integration in the small aircraft is not perfect, like you mentioned with the altitude and QNH.
The C208 is like a C172 on steroids, flies very easy and the engine handling of the turbine is much les complex. No leaning etc.
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido
Skipper, if you ever want some company on one of these trips, hit me up; I’d love to come along. I’m a highly qualified VFR sport pilot!

Always nice to follow your videos. For us flying single pilot as job this is good reminders on good airmanship. Was this the 350 with auto throttle? Safe flying G
Thank you!
This was an older King Air B350, which I picked up at Singapore before and brought it to South Africa. It was completely overhauled, new cabin, new paint, new avionics, Blackhawk engines and saddle aux tanks. I brought it then to the USA, on the very flight I recorded this video.
The video of a B350 with auto throttle will come up shortly.
That was on a different ferry flight USA to South Africa in a factory new aircraft.
Happy Landings,

Hello Guido! Thanks for another great video. I love the detail you put into your videos. I've learned I need to watch them at least twice so I don't miss anything. As a non-pilot, (I'm just an Aviation Geek), I really appreciate the detail you give us. I learn so much from you. When you take possession of an airplane to ferry, what is your process to insure it is safe to fly on such a long, and potentially dangerous trip? Have you ever turned down a trip because the airplane wasn't safe? Thanks again Guido!
Thank you Tom.
Mostly I have to rely on the aircraft maintenance reports. There is very little you as a pilot can check other than a visual inspection. I usually ferry newer aircraft. Never had major issues.
I know that my videos are very condensed and packed with information. I thought about making them longer by the audience likes shorter videos.
Thank you for your comment and the loyalty to my CZcams channel.
Please tell all your aviation afficionado friends to subscribe to the channel too. It really helps.

Hallo Capt.

Great video as always, Guido, if you had a favourite Aircraft what would it be?

I would ask,, what is the king air swing?
Thank you Ronnie.
the "King Air swing" is am nation when raising the gear:
> gear up with the hand
> landing lights OFF with 2 fingers down
> windscreen heat with 2 fingers up
In older King Airs you switch on the prop synch as well with the index finger.

If fuel range/routing allows it, do you have any preference for east African airports over west African airports? Heard west Africa can be a bit more of a hassle with paperwork/payments etc...
Thanks!
I have to plan a ferry flight for minimum cost and maximum reliability.
In an aircraft with great range, like the one on the video, West Africa is ok (less stops). For other aircraft, the East African route is preferred.
It is. a case to case desicion.
Happy Landings,

Do you generally taxi with the condition lever in "high idle"? Great approach and video as always!

Condition lever position depends on the temperature and elevation on airport.
These are also Blackhawk engines. They tend to run at too low RPM when in LO position.

I'm curious if you publish your licences anywhere or have covered your career in any interviews? You must have an FAA and South Africa CAA licence both with IFR. Even with validations, the CAA have not been fun to deal with. I can't imagine how difficult an IFR validation would be.
Also interesting routing across the Atlantic. Was in St John you stopped at in between the Azores and Bangor?
I lived 6 years in South Africa and got a SACAA ATPL which I renew every 6 months, since 2006.
Additionally, since I moved to the US I acquired a stand alone FAA ATPL, which I also keep current every 6 months. A lot of work but essential for my job. For other countries I sometimes work with license validations. A process that gets progressively more complicated. The countries do not like foreign pilots. Botswana license validation was quite challenging.
A South African SACAA license validation for a PPL/VFR is easy, to get a commercial is almost impossible. You might as well do the full license.
I am sure that many ferry pilots fly without proper licensing. That works as long as you have the slightest incident/accident.
I am a professional and feel also the responsibility I have toward my clients who give me their million Dollar assets for the ferry flight.
Route: CYYT, St Johns is the typical entry airport on this airport for Canada. I used it too.
Happy Landings,
Capt.. Guido
@@GuidoWarnecke Thanks for the detailed reply. I'm almost 9 months into a PPL/VFR validation with the CAA, and even getting this far was only due to some escalations. Interesting to hear you found it easy.
Would you recommend standalone licences over validations based on your experiences?
Thanks for continuing to share all the flights. You are definitely helping to improve the flight skills of many people.
It all depends what you want to do in South Africa.

What was the longest leg? What kind of range with those tanks?
I flew with headwinds most of the time but still did 1,800NM non stop.
The still wind range is well above 2,200NM!
Due to the heavier weight of the aircraft (the ER has 1,500lb increased MTOW) the fuel flow on the first 2 hours is higher than in the standard B350.
