    Hello, in this video I walk through the functions of the BF200 brake fluid tester.
    Brake fluid should be replaced every 2-3 years, this tester can help you determine if the brake fluid is over saturated with moisture which is harmful to the brake system.
    This is a good tool for all service advisors or mechanics to testing the customers brake fluid to prove it will need flushed.
    I hope this helps you make an educated decision.
    Thanks for viewing.

    I don't care if it's just for pros, I want it! Thanks for the video

    MTL, another possible point to changing your brake fluid regularly is the water will corrode/rust the internal parts of a caliper, i.e. causing the pistons to seize. Much cheaper to do a fluid change then buy calipers. Always look forward to your videos', my Friend!

    If you test 5year old fluid and it passes, you just missed the opportunity to do a 2yr flush and make the M O N E Y !

    How do this compare to the BF100? Do they have the same senor?

      Think the difference is just the digital display.

    Can it be converted to give false positive reading??? If so it's a perfect gift for my mother in laws brake mechanic...
    Kidding of course, as usual your videos are interesting and informative. Well done.

    Maybe I'm a man, and realize it's a tool (one that I don't have), so will have an empty spot in my soul now until I get one.
    Seriously, back in the 1970s, living on the gulf coast, we were taught to change our brake fluid every couple of years (and adjust our drum brakes). Sounds like Daimler has not forgotten that.
    I'm getting back into working on my own cars so this was good to see. First 20 years of adult life, I did so because I couldn't afford shops. The last 20, I've been letting my shops do most of my work. Now that I want to retire, I need to refresh my knowledge and start doing it again.
    Do you have a video on changing brake fluid on ABS equipped vehicles? Is the old two person pump, hold, and bleed still a way to do it?

    • @MasterTechLou
      @MasterTechLou  Před rokem +1

      Regarding abs bleeding, only certain models have a function to use a scanner to activate the abs module to shake out all the air. We use pressure bleeders but yes you can use the 2 person method. I have a very specific method I use which I will
      Share in a future video. Its the fastest way to bleed brakes with no issues.

    Top video 👍🏼
    Also, I was wondering, I’ve done around 24,000 miles in my Yaris, 4 years old vehicle, fluid looks clear, from your experience do you think my brake fluid needs changing?

    • @MasterTechLou
      @MasterTechLou  Před rokem +1

      What you see doesnt mean thats how it all looks. It will never hurt to change it. But its good practice to have it done every few years. You will notice a difference

    Great video again Lou! Just 1 question: when is considered the test passed? When the tester doesn’t beeps? Or even if you find 2-3% moisture inside and the fluid is 2-3 years old you should change it anyway? Thanks!

    • @MasterTechLou
      @MasterTechLou  Před rokem

      It passed as long as the values dont max out. But for me 2-3 years is best. You can definitely feel the difference in a car with old contaminated brake fluid then flushing to new.

    I believe that water would tend to sink to the bottom. If so, checking in the master cylinder would be invalid.

      It doesnt separate. It coagulates.

      @@MasterTechLou ahh... sort of. The water gets absorbed by the alcohol in the brake fluid.
