- A tribute charity song for the Cornish comedian Jethro, written and recorded by his good friend Rebel Dean. Recorded at The Cube Studios, nr. Truro, Cornwall, 29th December 2021. Written by a Cornishman, performed by a Cornishman, recorded in Cornwall to honour a legendary Cornishman. Proceeds will go to Jethro's chosen charity - Childrens Hospice South West. 1. Way down in West Cornwall,
a long way from the smoke,
there came a young Cornishman,
with a flair for a joke,
he travelled the land,
like a one man band,
bringing joy to every woman,everyman.

the train wont stop Camborne,
Denzil's lost his friend,
and the laughter has gone silent once again.

A rugby playing man,
who'd worked down in the mine,
became an entertainer,
playing pubs every night,
Ol' Des O Connor called him,
and put him on TV,
He won the Nation's heart's along with the Queen's.

and spent time on the land,
he'd sit by the fire,
with a pipe in his hand,
a long way from the stage,
he was an ordinary man,
and his heart was as gold as the Cornish sand.

the boy from St Buryan,
lived a life oh so grand,
but he never lost the common touch,
he was a friend to everyone,
and became one of Cornwalls favourite son's.

Great tribute to the great man. Nobody could deliver a joke like Jethro sadly his like won't be seen again. I will always have fond memories of watching him live in Portsmouth and crying with laughter and looking round to see everyone else doing the same. RIP Jethro
