Runners from around the world came to Harrachov, Czech Republic to put their calves, quads, and endurance to the test in one of the steepest races across all of Europe. From bottom to top, it's 400 meters in distance and close to 200 meters in altitude: a pure uphill sprint to the top of an olympic ski jump slope.

One could argue that very little actual running occurs during this race.
Was thinking the same thing, if you take out the running part though they can't claim it's the steepest _____ race anymore, as the blank would be filled out with 'climbing race' and there are a lot of climbing races that are steeper.

@@jeroenverschaeve3090 They were using their hands as well though in front of the finish, so not sure foot race would be fair. As in, climbing uses both hand and feet and is definitely steeper and wouldn't be considered a foot race. My point was just: This race wasn't "the most special" in anyway, it was just a fun race.

I want to see this in the Olympics - the field of competitors just running up an absurdly large hill (like the cheese roll hill in reverse) where even the concept of "running" (lifting both feet off the ground simultaneously) starts to become a poor strategy.
Or maybe winter olympics - ski jumpers get bonus points for how fast they return to the top of the hill after their jump.
Sherpa’s from mt.everest could do this with 2 tents, 10kgs of food, water and stove and still finish faster than the winner.
