  • We continue our trip in Negril Jamaica and now, Walking on the Famous Seven Mile Beach.
One of the main attractions in Negril, Jamaica is the beaches, specifically the famous Seven Mile Beach. Although this is a small town of about 3,000, it stretches across two parishes and there are a number of beautiful beaches for people to enjoy. The seven mile stretch is the stuff of vacation legends; made up of the long 4 mile stretch and the smaller 3 mile stretch of Bloody Bay. Of course, with Negril being so close to Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and other popular Jamaican destinations, the opportunity to visit an even greater number of beaches exists.

Hitched from Smiths Falls Ontario to Miami in 1974, caught a flight to Montego Bay, then, along with some guys I met at the airport from Wisconsin we shared a cab to Negril . After a night I cannot believe I woke up alive from I met a lady named Rosie. We camped on her property at the cliffs for two months. Shopped the village for essentials, had the pleasure to meet the coolest people one could imagine, enjoyed lobster dinners for a pittance, smoked the best pot, Red Stripe beer is not the best beer, but,.... lounged in a hammock watching the sun set. Walked that beach every day and none of what you see in this video was there. Might have crossed paths with no more than 15 to 20 people each time, some clothed, some not. Negril... paradise you say... not any more.

In the 1990s, Coconut International had some of the most delicious Jamaican food on the beach, but it was MUCH smaller. Obviously word has gotten out. I'm happy it's still there. I think that those little shops are in front of what used to be the T-Water Beach Hotel -- a wonderful little property we stayed at 5 times in the early 90s. I wish it were still there. I'd heard that someone bought the property after it got out of tax hell and that something would be built there; I'd love to know what.

They call it seven mile beach for a reason..if you want to see someone walk seven mile that will be about a 2.5 hour video probably easier just to go down there and walk it yourself!

The sea is stunning, look at the colours!
Do you have to be staying at one of the hotels to be able to use the beach...or us it open to everyone....I really hope so!

We have been to Negril for the last 6 years and stay at a cozy BnB (Moms Place) right on Seven Mile beach. The only time you might be concerned about using the beach is if you wanted to use chairs. Most establishments will allow you to use their chairs as long as you're patronizing their restaurant/bar.

Jaimacans and Africans have all these nice places and things at home in our countries then we leave them and come to Europe and America and expect them to treat us like equals. We should visit, but invest in ourselves and our Countries.
