- My MORTAL KOMBAT II cabinet I bought back is 1999-2000. Inside are Jamma boards for 1, 2, 3, Ultimate 3 & 4. Also have the marquees for each.
That cab is gigantic! Lol. You really put a lot of love and effort into the restoration. Great job! That's serious dedication right there. It's totally worth it when it's done. And that must've been hilarious to you and your friends when they heard it saying the wrong things. I would've thought I was trippin' 😅

Facts! UMK3 just wants to show you the new arenas over and over before going back to the originals. I also liked the MK3 ending graphics and intro graphics that were taken out in UMK3.

Got a mk4 cab with the all mks on a switcher and other games
That's awesome! Can't really go wrong with any of the MK cabs, they're all great. Does your switcher stay on whichever game you left it in or does it power up all the boards? I always wanted one that was more like an RCA Switcher, where you could have 2 pressed in and only MKII would boot up. Never found such a thing.
@@GlaciusXL mine from riddlestv i have 6 switcher and a 8 he accidentally sent to me there about 200$ or more but the board does stay on the one you leave off etc i play mk4 turn off turn back on will be mk4 . Then hold p1 and p2 it switches games..

@@kevinthorn9672 Do you have to cycle through them? Like, let's say you play MK4. Then the next day you want to play it again, can you just fire up MK4 or does it have to power cycle through 1, 2, 3, U then 4? That's anyways been my concern.

Why swap boards? You look into a board switcher? That would be pimp
I've seen a few different ones. What I would want, is a physical switch inside the cabinet to "swap" games and it remembers what game it was on last. Some of the switchers I've seen end up powering up every board, then you're just changing which one shows up. I've also seen ones that cycle through them, but the problem is that they start at the first board every time. So, if I'm on an MK4 kick, I don't want to have it turn on & off 1,2,3, & UMK3 just to play 4. Likewise, I don't want to run 5 boards to play 1 game. I want one that I can set and it just powers that one until I physically press a button like the 8 port AV Switcher I have for my old consoles.

@@GlaciusXL Yes! I'm hoping someone will make a switcher with a user interface that allows you to show what games are on the switcher and then choose which one to boot. Similar to an emulation front end. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to pull that off. They could make it where you hold the start button to shut down the game and return to the selection screen. Plug in a USB drive to upload a marquee file for the selection screen. I hope someone who's smart and can make this will see this comment haha.

@@kevinthorn9672 you'll need the security chip and then 10 to 11 roms. U114 through U121, then the revision roms U53 & U64. Then if you want the MK3 intro sound during Raiden's dialogue, you need sound rom U2. But the US rom for UMK3 will have all the other sounds, so it's not required to change out.
