- 10 shot Tuesday with the Axiom Ocularis... First Shots
in this video we will take 10 shots with the axiom ocularis limited edition. This time the target will be a soup can from 15m
**HEADS UP IN THIS VIDEO I DID NOT INSTALL THE PLUGS CORRECTLY** please read your instructions carefully when you receive your slingshot.

About halfway through your shooting, I finally wondered where your ammo was. IT'S ON YOUR NECKLACE! dude, I never thought about doing that. You're a genius!
I don't know how long ago I saw this video. I give it a thumbs up that time I tried again but I can't. But I enjoyed seeing your video's over.👍👍🍀🙏✌
Thanks for watching my friend
I just ordered my first sling shot today. Got the same one. Thanks
I have the same cranberry Ocularis LE and it shoots beautifully. It works real well for the butterfly draw too and it's very accurate. It's my fav from Simple Shot. Thanks for the video and looking forward to the review!
I am glad you liked the video. It really is a beautiful frame. I will give butterfly a shot soon.
SOOO nice, I've been eying it, but cant justify that much on sling right now! Soon though! lol I know its worth it! I have the normal Axiom Ocularis and love it! they came out with red after I got mine, so have green but the red plastic, is nice. The anodized aluminum is something else though!
Nice shooting, you're at risk of losing an eye shooting it the wrong way around. I nearly lost one looking at that knock off Maiden shirt too.
😁😆😅😂🤣😉😉😉😉😉
Awe man your going to pick on my shirt...... it is a knock off I am sure. Got screwed on Amazon with this one but I still like it. #uptheirons
@@ATOMark Just joking man, keep up the non stop content. I really enjoy it, your videos are great 👍👌😀
Watch Nathan Masters excellent video on how to set up the Axiom Occularis.
Iv got a ocularis not long ago i wasn't sure about the round tips but
l did well with it, that cranberry LE is stunning really and love the colour
Looks like a nice frame. Thank you for showing it to us, Mark. Stay safe and stay cool
You to my friend. Its roasting hot here right now. Brutal
@@ATOMark 30C + up here as well. Did not go dog walking the past couple of days as they do not get up as early as I do. Thank you for the reply, Mark. Stay safe and stay cool
Good looking frame and nice shooting. Thanks Mark
My pleasure man thanks for watching
****warning****
It seems I have made a rookie mistake. Please read the instructions carefully when useing the plugs on ocularis frames. I installed the plugs backwards and could have resulted in an accident.
Still hit the can 8 times 🤣
i thought i notcied that haha
Nice video vicar and a pretty coloured sling!
I love the color of this sling. I want my next car to be this color.
Good shooting, I am learning a lot from your videos
I am happy they are helping you out. If you have any questions don't be shy
Excellent shooting and excellent video mark 👍🏻
Thanks man.
Great job! Nice looking frame!
Thanks man
80%..is a GOOD accuracy sir, 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice video bud that's a nice colour frame and some good shooting already iv still got to shoot mine yet 👍😁
You haven't shot your yet? How long have you had it?
Great vid, great review.
Thanks man
Great stuff brother 👏👍I always struggled a lil bit with the ocularis style but once better rubber(latex) was more available and I cut them more narrow, then it became more like shooting anything else. It just takes a few shots to get used to them.I think it's one of the best non clip style attachment systems, due to it being able to set it up so may different ways. Great video brother 👍
Thanks man. I think I will set this one up butterfly. I will try that soon. Just have to make sure I put the plugs in properly. Lol
@@ATOMark yes sir. I have the original bean flip in ocularis and I shoot it ok. I been trying to get my vids together about butterfly shooting but the first video for sure wouldn't have much shooting involved, if any. I don't know how many ppl would actually watch it. I think if it helps 1 person then it's worth the effort.
I think you will be surprised. Do it man
Great Video, Good shooting. I would put a piece of card Board in the Back of the inside of the Target, that way you can see the Point of impact for reference. I get enough Packages lots of Cardboard for POI Reference. I like to Practice Quick deployment, with quick band clearing, and Quick Follow up shots. I am always trying to figure out how i can mechanically improve Muscle memory and speed of getting to a Much Faster Follow up shot, and more accurate POI. I want to go from a Slingshot in the correct side Back Pocket, I leave the lanyard out of the pocket and i use that as the hand goes through the loop and get yanked out of the pocket with my shooting dominant hand, while the other hand gets a Ball ammo ready to be placed in the pouch and the pull back into shooting position and the shot takes place. I am always Practicing with my setup, to Get a Much faster deployment, ammo pull, placed and draw back into cheek weld and shooting position to release the shot. Then as fast of a Follow up shot as i can, Take up to 10 shots or more, with as high of level of accuracy as i possibly can. I practice Daily this way to develop my skill to induce muscle memory to as high a level as possible just in case i get into a situation where this type of Shot skill is needed.
Dobar video.
That's really nice shooting. But if I may point one thing, you had the plugs inserted not the optimal way or at least not as suggested by the SimpleShot for highest safety.
Plugs should be inserted from the shooter side, so that when you are pulling the bands you are tightening them.
In configuration from your video *in theory* you could pull them out.
I have Axiom as one of the first too and also it didn't clicked with me at that time. But I still have and definitely will give it a chance one more time.
I like the way you shoot and how you make a solid anchor point first. That's cool.
Ya I guess I should turn them around. It was a really tight fit but I will change them to the proper way.......I guess I should have read the instructions 😕
Good shooting bro 👏
Colour of that Axiom looks great. I wish SimpleShot makes that same frame with normal OTT forks in the near future.
Oh ya. I would love that. I prefer square tips but this might be a fun butterfly frame.
The Ocularis system can be shot OTT or TTF. That's the beauty of the system- one frame for both shooting styles.
Good shooting mate! Love the colour of the Ocularis... i have to agree that the rounded edges give it a very futuristic look, but it would probable better with squared forkends for better reference points, nevertheless 8 out of ten is not bad shooting. Well done!!!
Thanks man. I think it comes down to what you are used to. I only have about 60 shots on this frame so far. I love the look of it though
Awesom! But flip those clips around before you get a slap to the face:p
Lol so I've been told.
Yup, pulled that one one time. Thankfully I was just testing my bands and got a smack to the hand.
I guess I got lucky. They will be fixed in the next video
@@ATOMark honestly: you should simply take this video down and make a new one with the plugs at their right place... or write a warning... what if a rooky sees this and thinks this is the way the plugs should be...? Greetings & no offense 👋
@@andiedel no offense taken. I will add a message in the description. And comments pinned the top
Liking the raw shooting footage...
Hey thanks man. I am going to keep doing this. Everyone misses from timento time. No shame on showing it.
Great shooting as usual buddy.
Thanks Ian!
Fix those plugs. You'll shoot your eye out
Lol they will be fixed in the next video
Nice shot sir 😀👌🇧🇩
Thanks man
Plugs are in backwards!! The side with the shoulder should face the shooter.
Exactly right and that can hurt.
So true 👍
Very true. I was looking at it after the video thinking this looks sketchy to me...🤣
Thanks I bought this axiom occularis slingshot I couldn't figure out how to shoot in OTT .
Me either apparently. I put the plugs in backwards.lol
Well from reading the comments the safety patrol is in full force! 😂! That’s a joke guys!😂 I remember on my very first slingshot video I reviewed an Ocularis knock off and put the plugs in backwards. It was quickly and numerously pointed out to me. I was so proud of that video! But they were just looking out for me. No hard feelings. The Ocularis is a brilliant Slingshot but the Cranberry… OMG, it’s Flippin awesome!👊
Honestly I found the color of my next car. It is going to be that cranberry color. Fun shooter too. I will be sure to correct it for the next video. I think I will try a butterfly setup with it. Something tells me it will be a great setup.
@@ATOMark That may not be a bad idea. Let me know how it works.
I'm just glad the bands didn't come loose
Awesome shooting Mark!!!!!
Thanks brother
@@ATOMark Looking forward to trying out the SimpleShot black bands I have on order thanks to you.
They are great. Shipping is really slow
That cranberry one is looking sweet. I like mine with the lighter bands. After getting my scout I didn’t shoot the ocualaris for a bit. When I tried it again it felt weird with the rounded bands but once I warmed up it wasn’t bad at all.
Its fun but it definately shoots different to my other frames. I want to try it butterfly
@@ATOMark I still haven’t tried that butterfly stuff yet lol. I’m sure I’ll be giving it a go at some point though! I’m a little bit nervous about it to be honest 😂
Just start with clays. It will hurt to get hit but worst case its a scratch. Thats what I did. I think Kelevala is doing the same.
@@ATOMark fortunately I ended up with a metric **** ton of clays so… heck why not?! 🤙
It looks like you put the plugs in backwards. That’s an injury waiting to happen.
Nice shooting bro great vid 💥💥💥👍🏻
Thanks man. That is a fun frame to shoot. I think I will have a crack at butterfly as soon as I figure the proper way to set it up. Lol
@@ATOMark that will be fun to see lol 😂
I have an Ocularis, although not the pro series like you l too have put broad 25 mm bands. It shoots nice but l noticed that sometimes if a band slips in those plugs the aim tends to shift. So if l start missing l check the bands and usually they have shifted a bit.
I have never noticed any shifting in the bands but I don't shoot it very often.
@@ATOMark l shoot it almost every day. Anyway my GZK arrived today. I will try it out tonight.
The Ocularis is my favorite frame, but I shoot ttf.
Great shooting man.I’m also having the same problem with my bands covering the aiming dimples. You said the bands were 18-12 and .5 not sure which bands those are.Is it specs from making your bands at home.Sorry if it’s a dumb question. Thanks
The biggest problem for me is the round tips make the bands look different when you look down them. Instead of seeing a nice clean edge they kind of cup down to the forks. I'm not a fan of the round tips. I mostly shoot this frame butterfly now.
Just starting and I got some questions. the ammo goes......either over the top, or thru the forks, yes.....but the band does not the band get in the way????
No you would wrap the bands over the outside the forks and the bands would pass through the center. No problem.
Can you please do a video on how to properly aim this.
I got the knock off from Ali express and I prefer it TTF for this frame as it gives u more references points to aim. I mainly shoot OTT, or should I say started shooting OTT first. I’m new a few month in to practice but am nothing as good as you buddy. OTT I seem to struggle with reference points etc,?, I’m still basically finding my feet. TTF I find is also safer and better with the wind may I add. But my most accurate OTTis the EVO, as you shoot that frame with a straight wrist instead of cocked back. Currently using 6-8 ml ball bearings, for targets only atm. When I practice with these cheapo Chinese frames I’ll buy the originals, love the videos bro.
When I shoot ott the only referance point I use it the top corner unless I am shooting a long distance I shoot a little farther down the fork. You may want to try shooting some paper to dial in your anchor and referance point.
@@ATOMark I do try to use the top corner!, but for some reason I still seem to miss. I’m certain I’m doing something wrong,?,Whats the distance from shooting,? In yards or meters maybe I’m too close,?. I can always see where my shots are going,? I miss more often than hitting my target,?, could be releasing my shot at the wrong time,?, its a serious level of concentration but am struggling to say the least,?. However TTF I think is slightly easier,?, seems to be more reference points to aim with.
What do you use when you shoot ttf? the dimp?
IVE SUSSED IT OUT!?, my anchor point was way to low causing me to shoot upwards on my release 😒, but now higher up by my cheek bone I’m getting 80% accuracy so over da moon man.
Awesome man. Thats great news.
Man I wish I could get 15 metres in my back yard. If I go diagonal I can get about 9.5 m lol.
Awesome shooting bro! I wouldn't argue with you if you were holding a slingshot! 😆
I can get 20m if I go besides my house. I don't like to do that though. I cant see family members come around the corner. I only shoot 20m when they are not home.
@@ATOMark It's always a good idea to try not to shoot the wife and kids lol 😅
Awesome video. Have you ever shot precise 3rd generation bands and have any options on them
Yes precise .65 are excellent. One of my favorite bands. Good speed and nice draw. Great stuff
Thanks so much for the advice
Hitting the can on the swing! Good shooting. Nice colour Ocularis. Plastic or aluminum?
It is the aluminum limited edition ocularis
Nice frame
Thanks Eight8
@@ATOMarkyour welcome😁👍
Pretty sure you're bands are not attached correctly. Check it just to make sure.
have ever had issues with the bands slipping from the plugs?
Nope never had a problem. You just need to be sure you put them in the right way. Bands go over the top into the hole and the plugs go in facing you.
Lol that was my 1st frame. Hated it. SImple shot let me swap it for a scout XT. Like the scout way better. I’d like to try it again but didn’t like the lack of dimps or 90 degree OTT style corner top on the axiom. I also didn’t like the grommet/ ball setup very much either. Different strokes for different folks. I love the variety of frames available these days.
I thought the same when I got my first one. I had very few shots on it and hated it too. I like it now though.
Which little aim spot were you using as an aim reference by the end? I have a round one and it is 90degrees on the side
I was useing the notch that sits on a 45 degree kinda
@@ATOMark ok ya that makes sense. That’s what I thought too just picked up the hammer and there are two but they are at a 90 so I was wondering
Your bands always looks short how long are they? Mine are around 5 1/2 or so depending on rubber
What I usually do Is check the max elongation devide it by my draw length add 1cm for pouch and what ever I need for for attachment could be 4mm or 2cm it depends on the fork attachment.+ 1cm to my active band length. For example the max elongation is 6x. 76.2÷6=gives me 12.7cm. My active band length. I add 1cm to that 13.7 then I add 1cm for pouch and 1 cm for for attachment. I do this to get good speed but still have some longevity. That make sense.
Great video, jus got one recently but having a difficulty shooting on target ..May you please assist me how to aim n improve shooting.
Thank you
Sure Paul, what frame in your collection do you shoot the best?
@@ATOMark only have The Axiom Ocularis, will be making a figure 8 descender later this month.
@@paulawestcott7228 ok what i would suggest is stand parallel to a mirror and draw your slingshot to your anchor. Have a look at the bands and make sure they are drawn evenly. If not correct that. Next step would be to shoot paper and find the referance point on your frame. And see how your shots react. As for the release. Try to grip the ball not infront of the ball. Give that a try and let me know how it goes
@@ATOMark Thank so much for the tips well appreciated. I'll keep you posted.
Would you recommend the Axiom Ocularis for a newbie?
No I wouldn't. I have one and shoot it pretty well but the round forks add a little guessing to the referance point.
@@ATOMark Thank you Sir for the reply. I'll get the Scout LT then.
Where could I get myself one of those necklaces for ammo? Tanks
Snipersling
Do you ever hit your thumb?
I have never hit my hand at all. I have had a couple frame hits though.
How did you find ordering from simpleshot as a Canadian?
Product is great. Simpleshot shipps fast but you can die waiting for your stuff waiting for usps. For delivery is seems to be 4weeks minimum. I will only make big orders from now on.
@@ATOMark definitely wish they had a Canadian distributor
Ya me too. Perhaps a good buisness opertunity.
hey man, where in Canada are you located? I'm in Toronto, maybe we could even meet.
I in Quebec. Do you know of any tournaments in Canada? It would be fun to see a bunch of Canadian shooters there.
what's the speed test reading?
I did the speed test with 24-12 haven't done it with 18-12 yet.
OK now, I think it is time for a new 10 shot Tuesday
Have you tried it TTF?
No not with this frame yet.
How to shoot 90° accurately in (20-35) meter?please make a tutorial video as soon as possible.thank you. By goblet evo.
I already have one on how to get started shooting long distance
Have not seen your videos lately are you doing ok?
I'm ok, ill explain everything soon. I am just waiting for some information and I will fill you guys in on everything.
You have the plugs installed incorrectly
Hi! Liked it at the beginning but now I´m about to dump it.
Bands aoon started slipping through although they were mounted correctly. Contacted Simpleshot and they adviced me to clean with alcohool or simmilar and it helped a little bit for a short time but thats no solution.
Over time the rubber seemed to shrink even more and the fit gets even more loose so I´ll sadly throw this frame into the trash.
They didn't advise to change the plugs?
@@ATOMark No. But although I think this may work I don´t wanna change shrinking plugs periodly . Anyway your advice is appreciated 😊.
Try adding super glue around the steel ball to add a bit more size to it . After it dries when you shove it in the plug it should tighter . I use blue thin bands and use a ink pen to shove the ball in . No slips in quite some time
Thank you I´ll try it .@@sm0k3y76
AO was my first slingshot when I picked up this hobby again. is the new one metal? since i've switched to the Scout LT - way better balance (weight included)
I could not shoot mine
Want to sell the cranberry ocularis?
Lol not a chance! The just released the pro series. You will be able to get one still.
Lol that’s what I thought 😊
Watched your video again. They are incorrect.
Yup you are correct. I did attach them wrong. They didn't budge but there is a risk of one popping out and hitting me in the face.
