    TT membership for 11 years. Using $30 per night, I have saved over $55000 dollars including all membership costs. I left Michigan October 15, 2016, traveled out west and to Washington state. On October 1, 2017, I had spent $1200 on campgrounds including my $566 TT Dues.

    We started with a ZONE PASS that saved us hundreds of dollars a year and we were only camping for short periods of time. Fast forward 2021, we bought a used Thousand Trails membership ( elite basic) from Campground Membership Outlet for a very reasonable price. Full-time camping meant we were camping more and in more places so we upgraded to ADVENTURE membership and only lost $100.00 off our old membership. ADVENTURE MEMBERSHIPS are expensive, but when you factor in the number of camping days, average costs of campgrounds and Thousand Trails/Encore locations it can break even very fast. 7 months into Full-time lifestyle, we have recovered half of our investment and hopefully should be in the "profit" margin in a little over a year. Do the math. Are they where you want to be and do they offer the services you need? Last but not least, is the campground the destination you want to be or the area?

    we tried in 2017 when we bought our first new trailer and it came free. Very disappointed here in the northwest. of the ones we tried we only enjoyed one in Bend Oregon. All of the rest were cramped, not well maintained and noisy, mostly old and run down. We now live in Eastern WA and there is only one this side of the mountains which makes it not worth the fees. .

    We also have a zone pass living in Florida. It makes planning camping so much easier and we too made the leap when we were planning a trip to the keys. We have continued to keep our camper pass for 2 more years because we found we were camping more when we felt it was already paid for.

    I am torn on Thousand Trails. I've been to 4 of their "resorts" in different states. In 3 out of 4, they've squished my RV into a tiny spot with VERY little room between rigs. I have a 31-foot RV with tow vehicle. It is very difficult to reserve spots, and even more difficut for larger rigs. They only have a certain amount set aside with most of their trails campgrounds. You see a LOT of seasonals. I can't speak for Florida, but the resorts I've been to in the northeastern states are cramped!

    WOW! Only 9 comments and those are mostly against Thousand Trails. I agree with them.. We have 137,000 miles on our 2001 Monaco. We gave up our TT.... about 12 - 15 years ago. A happy day then.
    Our #1 home is in MIch. Our #2 home is in Naples FL.
    We will drive from MI to Yellowstone in Aug... we have a week scheduled at Fishing Bridge. SO.... news for you and your readers: Join the Elks and the Moose: they both accept men and women. No issues; no initiation for Moose; great initiation for Elks. Why: they both have lodges and some lodges of each have facilities for RVers. We have stayed in Savannah GA at an Elks Lodge. When we head north in a month we can stay at Zepherhills Elks (some full hookups), we will stay at the Elks near Mt.Dora (W&E), and we will likely stay at the Elks in Tifton, GA (boondocking 1 night), and likely at more getting to Mich.... and more going to Yellowstone. Cost: free, or a donation, and the typical common donation is $15 or $20 per night. Not a typo: $15 or $20 per night.
    And re TT... check out vlog of Eric of Nomadic Fanatic. He told and showed the reality of certain TT during the pandemic. These comments based on our 137,000 miles over 22 years of RVing the 49 states, much of Canada and some of Mexico including the Baja. Be careful of TT. You really have to understand the plan you buy. The older plans give owners more time to choose the hardest to get into cgs. Amen.

    • @tammiehinkle2040

      I believe it is harder to find value because of how you use campgrounds in general, because you have 2 homes with a "comfortable vehicle" to drive you back and forth, plus one week where you camp at a national park. So for the few "in between days" it likely isn't worth it for you. Big difference from that and someone that is full time, just sayin.

    Glad you mentioned Passport America. In general PLEASE check the restrictions in the details of each park: you may (will) discover you likely cannot use PA when you thought you could. Like not in Dec to April in most in FL.; or not on weekends, or not on you name it. On the POSITIVE side; Our "secret" great park to use PA in Florida is Themeworld in Davenport FL near Disney World. Except for Jan/Feb., (call to be sure) they charge about $30/night! We have stayed their at least 60 days in the last few years. 50 Amp and paved sites.

    I’ve enjoyed your videos for a while. But you lost me on this one. Not sure how anyone can endorse Thousand Trails. I signed up for their program in January of this year I also included the trails collection. I went with the south east area. I was very disappointed. After twenty-eight days of trying to make a reservation in Florida, anywhere in Florida, I gave up. No luck anywhere. I live in the north east, (Pa.), was trying to make reservations for a short ten day getaway. Being flexible in our destination should have helped. But, it didn’t. We were unable to secure any Thousand Trails reservations between Pa. And Florida. I was able to secure a site with the trails collection for our first night of travel. But when I tried to get a second night in a new location within the trails system I was told I had to wait four days before I could book another location. TT parks have ten or less spots they set aside for TT members. Ten sites for how many thousands of members? I tried booking through the trails collection parks out west, no luck. So the question is “ How can You Tube content providers endorse a system that doesn’t work? I’m sure TT works something out so you guys can get a site, but, for the rest of us , not so much. Thousand Trails did refund my money for their parks, and the Trails Collection add on. I’ll give them credit for that. I did get my trip booked. But I used Passport America to get it done. I’ll take ten nights of discounted camping over zero nights of free camping.

    • @GratefulGlamper
      @GratefulGlamper  Před 2 lety +1

      This was totally not an “endorsement” but rather sharing something we found that is working for us. I found that going through the TT chat I’ve been able to book even when the website said there was nothing available. Thanks for the feedback and for watching.

      We are actually full time in CA, we have the full "timeshare like" membership. We stay 28days close to work and gymnastics, we then spend 7days at another park anywhere else(Yosemite, santabarbara, sandiego, etc). Having the largest membership(ultimate odyssey) we have a 180 day reservation window, which we take advantage of as much as possible-i have reservations within the system for the next 6mos. It has been almost a year since we have paid for camping-outside of our $260/mo payment and $500/yr dues. Not a bad deal for folks that are semi-parked for now(we want to travel more, my middle child secured a spot with an Olympic coach during the pandemic, she now trains 30-35hrs/wk, so our dreams to travel weekly have been put on hold, but that's part of being her family, we still have monthly travel :-))
