Wicker coffins especially in the 1800’s were often used to transport bodies. Not so much for burial. I would say that many items are overpriced. Many folks think everything that is old is worth a lot of money. Anyway. More importantly. Who here thinks we need more Ben singing!? 🙌
Here in Cali, many second hand stores have raised their prices to antique malls and retail stores. I love how you say an hour and a half. That is usually the minimum for me in Goodwill! Lol. Thanks for reminding us about the google search. Have a blessed day!♥️ (private pick…teaser for future video!)
2:42.... I use Google Lens all the time, but had no idea that you could use it in that way! That's why I love watching these videos, always learning something new
That is what some refer to as a transport coffin or a holding coffin, those kind of coffins were used to transport bodies by the undertakers back to their home or to wherever the wake was then they would be laid out for display and moved into a wooden coffin before they were buried.
Great video. I’ve always had bad luck at the antique stores but I guess if you put the time in and look it up you’ll catch them slipping every now and then.
Lots of antique mall booth owners are also flippers who shop at places like Goodwill / yard sales / etc. I have two very good friends at the Goodwill Outlets who don't even resell online, they only do booths, which works great since we can trade / sell stuff to eachother that does better online or in the malls. If anyone's interested I have what sold videos on my channel showing the type of stuff I sell.
Yeah I know quite a few locals who kill the antique mall game. It’s wild. Opening a booth might be a fun thing for me to try sometime and experiment with it.
I sell a lot on Ebay AND I also have a large booth area at an Antique Mall. I can 1,000% tell you that MOST dealers are INSANE on their pricing!! A lot of them just randomly throw a price on something OR they go to Ebay (most don't know how to check sold comps) and glance at "buy it now" prices. I do VERY WELL because my prices are somewhere in between garage sale and EBay sold prices.
We have a booth at an antique mall and I always shop around when I'm there stocking my own booth, kinda learn which ones have good prices. I always buy from this one glass case in particular, the guy always has low prices and most the time I end up buying something out of his case to resell...I have made quite a good profit on his items over the years.
@@ReadySetResell yes its been pretty steady for the 8 years we been there, not a huge money maker but we always make a profit plus it allows us to store crap there instead of the house and sell it...usually stuff that won't sell for much on ebay or i don't want to list. It takes alot to source stuff for ebay, the booth, and the flea market we do, some things sell better on certain platforms or places but it's always fun to hunt for items.
I just opened my booth the end of last week! I am already in the green but I price based slightly under EBay solds. I’ve noticed the price elevation at my mall too but the stuff seems to move. Lots of older shoppers looking for unique stuff for their home.
@@ReadySetResell the traffic seems good I picked a location that is open 9-9 pretty much every day of the year and there is always people actively buying things when I am there. I sell clothes online (I don’t like shipping anything else) and have put my focus on my booth with vintage glassware, brass, pottery old books, typewriters and wall baskets(which have been an unexpected money maker) I buy them at the bins and they so far have been selling $6-$18 each. Oh and If you want to learn more about older glass and pottery I have found watching Crazy Lamp Lady on CZcams to be very helpful.
@@Peachykeenvintagedsm I just opened my very first booth this week as well. No sales yet but it is a tiny and new antique mall. Dingo588 on youtube is a gret source for what to look for in antique stores and malls.
Awesome score! I have a treasure mall near me and I can get lost in there it is just like yours I found some really cool things to flip along my journey going there. Thanks for sharing Ben!
at my local antique mall, sometimes if you ask, they will give you a 10% discount, it's worth a try. if I find that the prices are too high, I usually will look for things that already have a "set" price...such as books
flea markets are out of their minds, 2x ebay sometimes more prices. Like the one antique mall by me is just like a place to get exercise and walk and take pictures to find stuff to buy on ebay or remind you of something cause stuff is just priced way too high at this location.
Hi Ben,I live in a country without any and I mean any thrift stores but through through your videos I experience the fun that you have and for that I just want to say a big thank you
I commend people who can shop both sides of an aisle in one swoop. I have to do one side and go back down the other. Great items in your view at the antique shop.
You are absolutely right about antique malls being pricey. When I go and see something I want then I look online to see how much they go for and usually buy it elsewhere for a whole lot cheaper.
Yes people can find things cheaper but often they fail to account for shipping, unscrupulous sellers who hide damage and the hassle of breakage etc… most times the sellers have already taken those risks
Antique malls do not cater to resellers, although I have found some things not a whole lot. I keep a display at one of our local malls. It's actually a nice way to make income and not have to be hands-on all the time, just a few times a month.
Back in the depression era, times were so hard that it was commonplace for the women to buy flour and corn-whatever came in a bag-and use them to sew everything from curtains to clothes. The companies caught on to this and started making their bags with colors and patterns that would better attract buyers to their brands. There were even sewing/pattern booklets created specifically for using the sacks. This went on from the 1920's-1960's. People knew you were poor if you had your clothes made out of these sacks, but then they just became trendy as the Depression started to fade. Part of our History that not a lot of people are aware of!
Great video Ben. I use to try and source from that same antique mall when I first started reselling and I would find a couple decent things but overall the majority of items are too high priced.
@@ReadySetResell true..most time their prices are at retail or good for "yourself" but not resell...thats why i look for booths that have a huge mark down sale going on
There were a still bunch that were good prices for personal buys at this one. But I defiantly saw some stuff over market. That’s the way antique malls go though. And some of those vendors get their higher prices too.
CZcams has become a double edged sword...all the people who make videos- especially the reseller type, are basically cutting their own throats. It makes me smile when so many resellers seem so surprised when the thrift shops, antique malls etc., sell their stock at "reseller" prices.
Thrift stores and their thousands of monthly customers will never compare to eBay’s hundreds of thousands of customers. Thrift stores raise their prices then nobody buys the hyper specific item that the thrift store has priced at $100 because the collector seeking said item lives states away and doesn’t know it is there. Thrift stores need to realize this.
Lol CZcams isn’t causing prices to rise. Prices rise with the rest of the market like any other store. Thrift stores raise general goods prices to cover building rent raising, employees wages raising, cover the costs of their numerous programs, taxes raising etc. And thrifts have been pricing individual items up well before CZcams. Heck goodwill has even been selling “the good items” on their online store since 1999 which is like 6 years before CZcams was even created. Them pricing stuff up is nothing new. Also, I don’t believe I acted “surprised” by the items being marked at market value in the antique mall at all. I even said at the very beginning of the video that that is what is to be expected at these places since the people selling there are all professional dealers. Your off base on this one.
Again the Crazy lamp lady does well at antique malls. She is in Pennsylvania, so may be it’s cheaper there. I must admit that I am loosing interest on following her lately.

I bought a RL big logo polo NWT for $11 at an antique mall back in March, sold it for $78 on like a month!

Def can find some unique items at antique malls. Prob not something I would do. Maybe 1 time, but thats prob it. Nice finds though!
I believe that basket you thought was coffin is what I recall grandma calling a Moses basket
Moses baskets or moises in Spanish are for new born babies. There are not used as much since the car seat era.
