You're welcome. I'm hoping to do some more at some point. I've made some very varied functioning cameras, once you sort out the basics you can do loads with it.
DEFINITELY some painters used it ! As a painter I CAN SEE when an image is created by copyingsomehow an image from nature (van Eyck, Antonello da Messina , Vermer,Ingres).....and when an image is created by artist's hand and intuition ( Masaccio , da Vinci , Michelangelo, Raffaello, Rubens , Delacroix ....)
Most commonly people use a pinhole (without lens) to view a solar eclipse. In theory you could damage the paper by focusing on the sun with a magnifying glass with a large aperture.
So for my history class. We choose inventions that were made during the industrial revolution and we build the invention that we chose our project to be on. one was “photography”. I was very confused and so I searched “industrial revolution photography inventor” it said “Joseph Nicéphore Niépce” but I was confused as to how can I build a photography but then I saw he used an obscura camera. But I’m not entirely sure if it counts as “photography” since on is a camera and the other is photography.
Photography uses a camera in the same way a tailor uses a sewing machine, the word doesn't have to be the same. using a camera obscura definitely counts as photography.
I can't believe it was so easy to make it, I am glad I found this helpful video!
It's like I'm watching 19th century footage very well done!
Thanks for sharing this! Definitely going to build mine

so i could just mut my phone usig another cutout on the side near the paper just enoung to leave me with the camera controls. damn
Would you use this design for solar eclipse or would you damage paper or eye?

What are the dimensions of the box.
As long as your box can reduce down to the infinity focus point of your lens, you can make the box whatever size you want.
which lence use
Almost any magnifying glass should work.
