      Some Competitions are 'ABC' .... Anything but Collies + a class for Collies.
      And that makes sense if other breeds are to get a fair chance at competing.
      Boxers, German Sheperds & Dobes certainly love Agility, my Belgian Shepherds thought it wonderful. Springer Spaniels are like lightning too.
      But the physique of Collies gives them an advantage ~ Combining BSD speed & Springer turning.
      And anyone who says 'that's stupid' is clueless.
      Would you run Collies against Greyhounds at one of their meetings? You could try .... but the Greyhounds would blow them into the weeds.
      Put Greyhounds in to Agility and most of the breeds just noted can out turn them so easily the Greyhounds would have no chance there.
      You want to encourage dogs and owners into sport you have to allow fairly even competition.
      So a personal verdict ......... Crufts are getting this badly wrong.

    • @tabithajohnson9907
      @tabithajohnson9907 Před 3 lety +12

      I agree. I wish ABC (Anything But Collie) was more common. I've seen Dobies, Huskies, and even Bulldogs run in ABC classes. They're often more exciting because you get to see the odd breeds compete that never make it to these levels.
      ABP for smaller classes is going to need to be a thing soon. Papillions are taking over the smaller dog group by storm because they have the same advantage Border Collies do, but can compete in a different height class.

You need to make that turn to follow the gps directions and get to the end. It also helps the dog by reinforcing all parts need to be completed and to pay attention.

    • @SilverFlame819
      @SilverFlame819 Před 4 lety +10

      @@lisadooley3872 I've seen plenty of clean runs where the owner hits the ground and the dog hits the final jumps without them! :D If you can manage to stop your dog immediately if you're in the middle of a run and fall, then you can save them from getting an off-course (most dogs will start doing other obstacles while you're still getting back to your feet), then continue on. Then you're just out the time it took you to get up. But if you fall before the last jump or so, and it's a straight line, and the dog just goes for it, score for you! *lol*

    You can separate the decent handlers from the exceptional ones easily. The trainers most in shape running with the dogs, or the trainers best guiding the dogs with very clear commands positioned at the right angle, not giving the commands too early or late, all won or performed markedly better than the rest of the competition. Dog quality seemed less important than trainer quality, which is the only way it ever makes sense.

I pay over $200/month for cable, internet, phone - with the premise behind "paying for TV/Internet" is so there is no need for ad-revenue (commercial free programming), because the consumer already paid-up-front with their monthly cable bill. I won't be snookered and/or guilted into watching commercials on the internet, when I already pay a hefty fee just to have the internet. IMO, it's double-dipping and we've been snookered into believing it's justified - it is not.
