ngl when i first started annotating i had no idea where to place the tab so that would have been actually super useful hahaha now i barely stick it out for paper back but stick it out by about 2 cm for hardcovers :P

I love your tip for putting in tabs it’s soo helpful I always spend ages trying to make them even & stick out the right amount
I love seeing this type of videos.
Tip: Whenever you whant more subsections for your post-its you can easily put them in the top part of the book instead of the sides. Also, what I've been obssesed lately is to write at the end or at the beginning of the chapter a post-it with a little summary (it is very helpful when your trying to find something specific).
Sorry, this comment is really long but what I've been doing in MAAS books is that I specifically give one color to plot details and another one to the "world details".

I find it helpful also to put a large post it in the back to keep track of the characters as they show up and the page. I hadn’t thought of rewriting it, that’s something I’ll consider doing in the future if the post it gets messy or old ☺️ that’s one thing that felt was a draw back about post its.

If u want to emphasize some VERY important info or stuff, let the sticky note stick out more. So based on how long the sticky note sticks out I guess 😂😭 u can know how important this scene is to u

Such a good idea putting important events and character info in the back! I have such a bad memory for character descriptions and this would help me a lot!

I was actually having problems with tabs sticking out of the books too much! Loved the last suggestion!

Thanks for sharing your tips. I only sometimes underline my books, most often I just tab, but I want to incorporate some sore of sticky note with plot points, opinions and stuff with every 50 pages or 100 pages (depending on the books length).
I definitely feel like I have more things to reference when I read Scifi and Fantasy. But then when I read contemporaries or other genres outside the SFF I will use those tabs that I never use as much, to make sure to use all my tabs. (usually 3-4 colors).

Last year I started annotating my books and I do the exact same thing with the sticky notes lol they all have to have the exact same length sticking out, thanks for letting me know I was not alone in this!!!

When you showed how you put the sticky tabs in the books, I could relate! I want to start doing some sticky tabs in books I love but was considering just cutting off the end of the tab so it's shorter and doesn't stick out as much from the pages. I didn't want to cover the text much or at all, and just keep the tab in the margins.
Loved this Britt! I really need to start annotating better as I just use whatever tabs match the cover😂🙈 I really need to get a system down. For actually underlining quotes I use a highlighter and again match it with the colour of the cover and I think I’m going to stick to that but yeah I need to get a system down for the tabs. You have now definitely inspired me to do that when I pick up my reread of A Clash of Kings🎉☺️

I find these types of videos fascinating because I never annotate my books - I cringe at the thought of writing in my books! 😳😅 But I do love the sticky notes idea and it is something which I do frequently think about. I especially love the idea of having sticky notes in the back outlining the main events. I would love to have a go at this! So who knows? Maybe one day...I might just annotate them 😊🌸

Aaah well you can definitely also annotate by only using sticky tabs and post its in the back! No need to write in the book! Just paste the sticky tab exactly at the sentences you mean to remember. I hope you'll give it a try! Good luck!

Aww I love that you switch it up from book to book. there have been certain tabs that I feel like I could change/combine in my own but I'm so nervous to change it because I'm scared that if I ever go back to books that I had annotated differently I won't remember what the tabs meant 🙈
Do it!! I always make a 'key' at the beginning of each book so I can remember which colours I used for which meaning! It really helps (otherwise I'd also DEFINITELY forget 😂my memory sucks so bad lol)

The only annotations I do is I underline a phrase if it *REALLY* speaks to me. I can't do the tabs cuz I personally find them too distracting but I love seeing others books with all the tabs like your GoT copy 🌈

I have a tip for you. If you have an EXTREMELY important scene to you, put the sticky tab on the top instead of the side. Hope this helps!

I still just use the 5 but sometimes I wish I had at least a 6th colour. (currently I use green for quotes and plot points) but I also have some tiny stick post-its that I sometimes add at the end of chapters for a mini summary. Now I want to film this video too 😂. I love seeing how other people organize their notes and which colours they use for which things.

Ok here is my biggest tabbing question: What do you do when there are multiple categories something could fit into? Like if it was a quote that also made you have a yaaas moment? Would you put both tabs?
I always just pick a random one actually hahaha
But say it's a yaaas moment and a nice quote at the same time, I'd pick the quote actually!

I have a question: if you finished a book and also annotated it do you put it right back in your bookshelf - so that the book end touches the bookshelf wall or do you leave space between the wall and the bookend (this is such a weird question and I am not sure if you understand what I mean but yeah... I’m just curious 😂😅)
hahah what an original question! On my bookshelf, I never really push the books all the way to the end, because otherwise my shelves always look so empty! So all my books are placed in the middle of the shelves (and the tabs will therefore never really bend!)

keep annotating the characters. There are more to come in the 2nd & 3rd book some never appear in the show or show up early in the book than in the show.
I don't use pen either, I use color pencils so I can erase just in case
