- Located in the Appalachian mountains, McDowell County has long been known for its poverty and lack of opportunities. Its often referred to as the poorest county in the United States.
With ProJet Aviation and Smokehouse Pilots, we traveled to the area in June 2022 on a mission of spreading kindness and delivering food, clothes, plants, toys, and books to families. We also spoke with some of the region's most influential people, who shared incredible stories. Their words could inspire possible solutions for the future of this county.
BYBM would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Leesburg Executive Airport leadership, Recycle Life, the staff at the Sacred Heart Church in Powhatan, and all volunteers who contributed to the success of this project.

13:29 Fkin hit me right in the feel zone. That kid would remember that all her life.
Thank you for what you did. But I live in McDowell county. My husband and I both are disabled and didn't know about this event going on. We really could have used the food. Need to get the word out better. Thank you.
Just asking did you all vote for trump and did he help like he said he would hopefully you all got some help and hope everything is going fine for and your husband.
If you wish I can help you and your husband as I am going to be your neighbor soon and I have many resources and high hopes I can make your lives better not just one day here and there but help whenever you need it.
@@miapowell7250 I'm sure that after 3 years of Biden and his sky high INFLATION, things are much better now....
@@Drainman Where are you now drainman?
@@Tekillyah I am North Eleven hours of there but will be there soon.I went poor when I got out of the military so I know its difficult. I still think your County can come out of this as long as you have the right path to follow.
My mother was ashamed to say she was from ieger and my father wasn't ashamed but didn't see any reason to brag about it either.
Let me just start by saying I love your video of Minecraft and how you started your own youtube channel at such a young age. Please continue making videos and stay consistent and build on it regularly, they say it takes 3 to 5 years of constant work for these channels to really take off. I can see you have a lot of potential, you speak really well and I like how you think - but just like a seed in the ground, it takes time for it to grow into a big strong tree, you will need to keep watering it and giving it time to grow into a strong force on youtube. Believe in it and it will happen for you! I promise you.
Secondly, I have been poor most of my life don't ever be ashamed of it. One of the richest guys in the world way back said "the best thing that can happen to any child is to be born in poverty". You actually don't want to be the rich kid that never goes through hardship because it's through hardship and suffering that we grow and become stronger. I have had 35 jobs and now I am a multi-millionaire.
The other thing is that the people in the West Virginia area are so rich in culture, values, and kindness. You should be so proud to be from anywhere in the United States. For example, I love the hospitality in West Virginia, and how grateful, kind, and proud everyone is there. Did you know that West Virginia used to be the richest place in America at one time? If you live in America that my friend is a lottery in itself and a blessing! You have opportunities here in this country that is not available in most places all over the world. In some places in the world, it does not matter how hard you work but here you have a chance!
You can be the next most successful person in the world! - if you believe in it - work hard - be honest - helpful to your parents and others around you - be the first one to get up and help - don't wait for others to ask you - build a reputation for being helpful to others and honest and kind, get out of your comfort zone - be ok with putting yourself on the spot and failing and trying again - read books and be super nice to your teachers - take on any honest job even if it's hard low level as long as it's honest - this will make you stand apart - I used to be a dishwasher at age 13 and I used to cut grass before that when I was your age - you are so precious you don't even know.
Imagine if you could be a huge success (daydream about if you could be anything and have anything or help anyone what that would look like for you) and how you could inspire other kids just like you from Leger how good that would make you feel. You can do it! You are the perfect person to inspire everyone once you become all that you want to be because you are starting where you are.
I believe in you.
