I love this show, I'm a football junkie and appreciate your perspective
We're going to have to pay a QB after this year one way or another, I wouldn't be so sure about Cam getting another contract. It might be Fields on a cheaper prove-it type deal but Cam at the end of a career, seems like bad business to not move on at this point.
Not if they draft one they don't
Love Cam but all good things come to an end. We’re going to have to pay a QB next year. Revamp D-Line next year in draft
Good information here. I’m not mostly overly interested in cap numbers and such, but this video made it interesting and applicable
Besides WR do you think we have pretty good depth most positions?
I second this question. Been wondering this for a while but probably not something he can speak well on until the preseason is over.
Corner is the other area that's a huge question. Young guys with potential but not many safe options behind JPJ.
A reliable Tight End is a must as a go to especially when the receiver's are tied up. A new Offensive Coordinator will be saying, show me. We never know what goes on behind closed doors. I agree Matt, thank you, Love your show
Would one of the QBs signing an extension be a reason for the extra cap after they are seen in the building and in the offense
Yep, yep! Championship teams aren't cheap. There's no reason not to invest in most of the guys you listed. Cam, Daniels, Muth, for sure, Fields is a good investment, Harris is one to wait on and hopefully Omar gets that # 2 receiver. Here We Go!
Fields is not a good investment for 10Million a year as backup. Thats way too much for just an athletic guy.
Remember when they were interested in continuing to do business with Mason Rudolph too lol
Oh they will after july 1st

Who would want Prescott at probably $60 million a year? No thanks. I wouldn't want him at $40.
I agree 100%, buy low and develop these players!!!
Justin's upside is worth the gamble & I am confident in the right offensive system the talented players will elevate!!
I still think something big (WR) is going to happen
Post June 1
I could see all of these happening except Najee. I wanted them to pick up his option but I think this is his last year in Pittsburgh.
I'd say Muth and Cam are the most likely of the group, only bc Daniels may want to test the market with guards getting paid so much. Fields seems more like a next year signing if he truly wants to play here.
Yeah i don’t understand why they didn’t pick up Najee option he is going to get 10 million aav as a free agent. Miles sanders and James connor make more than his option. Muth should get just under 14 million aav that Andrews get but that makes him 7th paid TE. I think its Issac they trade and extend Daniels
The sentemental part of me doesn't want to see great players walk away mad about how their time in Pittsburgh ended, but i know its a business, and in the end thats what should rule the day.
I feel it is by design, too. Which is a wonderful thing. Btw George Pickens will want an extension soon.
No shot fields signs for back up money
Extending Daniels and Cam opens up 19m in cap space to spend on top of the current cap space. But ahhh deals for Warren, Muth, Najee and others gotta get done sooner than later.
Why the focus on Dak? Dak hasn't proven he can win the big games. I'm not interested in him and I hope the Steelers aren't. Thanks for the show Matt!
Signing Daniels helps us be able to trade him next year or the year after.
Issac is the guy the trade he is 31
Yea please bring in Xavien Howard and solidify the D
Extending Cam is a bad business decision, he's at the end of his career and has been compensated for his past performance.
Completely agree. Let Cam go. His time is done as a Steeler. Let him play his final season this year and let him walk. Steelers can draft his successor in the draft next year and they have Benton already who can hold his spot in the meantime. If they Steelers are serious about winning, it's time to get younger and save me money on old vets that have expired.
So you’re saying you’d rather give that money to an outsider and show Cam the door.
There isn't 10 guys in the league better than him at what he does. He was injured and we were getting gapped on the run. He comes back with 1 groin and plugs up the run. Ifbhe had been healthy he'd have had a huge impact on pass he's good for 2 more years
@@sonsofliberty3081these people are so quick to throw dirt on Cam. He’s going to come back with a vengeance. He’s an injury year removed from back to back 10 sack seasons and an all pro nod. It’s nuts.
@@mattimus104 His productivity has dropped and he's not worth extending, so yes I would let him go if he doesn't agree to a pay cut. A 22 million dollar cap hit is not worth keeping him.
I love Cam, but he has to restructure and take his money on the back end.
I don't have a problem extending Cam but at his current value not 22 million value but at his age about 6 million per year. He's still valuable but the market isn't going to give him what he wants unless you get a dumb, desperate GM.
6M? Lol
Yes 6 million based on the campbell contract
I would gamble on Fields in an effort to avoid the crazy QB contracts that really limit what you can do with the rest of the roster.
Talking athleticism Plumlee can do all Fields can do but Plumlee is a bargain for under 1 Million a year for 3 years and has a better touch than Fields also. Fields alone cost more then all other 3QBs together 2024. Don't buy Fields athleticism with 10Million per year, that makes no sense... Plumlee has the size and all young Russ skills and is the perfect backup to sit and learn behind Russ and backup a Russ tailored offense while being quite cheap. Instead keep Fields until another team is really needy and trade him for a 2nd round pick in the bye week if the DangeRussSteelers are succeeding.
I think Plumee is Qb3
Today's football can't afford to pay two premium RB's. I think Warren is a better player.
He’s not a feature back
You could pay warren 12/4 like they did parker. He is probably getting the 2nd round tender next year at 3 million. Najaee will want 10 million aav combined are less then Cam deal this season
Matt having all that cap room doesn’t mean much when you’re not spending money on a qb right now. We will probably have to spend a lot of money on a qb in the future and that will change things
in the far far far future. wilson this yr. fields next yr. draft one in 2026 if fields sucks. pay him in 2030?
2/28 is what the saints gave Winston to be their starter before they got Carr not even sure you have to go that high. Darnold got 10 million in Minnesota baker got 4 million in Tampa before his big deal
8 million is Jacoby Brisett money which is fine if JF improves
