      How long were you on antidepressants and how did you get off of them? I am trying so hard. And I feel awful. My stomach is all messed up. I know that if my stomach feels better I will feel better too. I truly believe it all starts in the gut.

    Thank you so much Dr. Lee. I am grateful to have found your channel and website which I find very enlightening. I have a love one who is on olanzapine for about 3 months now, starting at 20mg and tapered to 10mg. He is also on 20mg prozac for just about a month now. Should he taper off of the prozac first and leave olanzapine for last? I was considering having him remove prozac adruptly without taper since he's only been on it for a month, but I'm not sure. Thank you!!

    What nutritional supplements are typical recommended in place of an antidepressant? Also, can depression be treated by improving gut health? Thanks!

    Your profession is almost exactly what I’m trying to do! I’ve had such a hard time finding information or doctors that practice alternative medicine or in the area I’m interested in. I want to study preventative medicine with a holistic/orthomolecular/nutritional approach. I don’t know what’s the best route, should I get a masters in nutrition/dietetics or go to medical school? Do you have any suggestions or recommendations that might help me?

      Sometimes you just have to make your own niche with work. I'm glad that I went through medical school so that I can prescribe, but it was a long and very difficult process.

    Hello I have a question. Its it okay for me to seek out another proffessional, if I feel like my psychiatrist is giving medication that I dont think I actually need? Or should I just take them regardless of what my gut says?

    • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  Před 4 lety +2

      You always have the choice to get a second opinion. If you visit a naturopathic doctor or an integrative psychiatrist, you may have alternatives to medications that regular psychiatrists are unable to provide.

      @@alicewleemd okay, he put me on 20 mg of Citalopram and I was okay with that. But recently if I say things like, oh I have more energy now than I use to, he'll come up with another diagnoses even though I made it clear that I am getting better... I feel as though if I am going to pay him to help me, then 5 minutes of him making summaries and tossing me a medication just isn't fair, and is costly and a risk to me and my family if I dont actually need it. I am studying neuroscience and I am starting to realize that antidepressants can eventually cause more harm than not. It should not be given out so easily to patients if they can work through it.

      Shay Vidz the more of the Antidepressant or antipsychotics they put you on the worse you will become. Don’t forget the same people that administer these drugs are responsible for the deaths of thousands of lives from either suicide or homicide from these drugs alone. Worse than heroin or any street drug at that.

    I think anti depressants withdrawal is impossible

    • @alicewleemd
      @alicewleemd  Před 4 lety +1

      It is pretty much impossible without the right support. But it is possible if you have the skills to know how to support the process. I agree with you that people shouldn't lower their antidepressants without knowing how to do it properly.

      If whatever you're doing is not working, please seek additional support. For example, go to an acupuncturist or naturopathic doctor. Research how to withdraw safely as well. All the best to you.

      @@alicewleemd i have been trying to do this by myself and am having a very hard time. I called a very reputable psychiatrist today to set up an appointment to help me. 🙏 i am almost down to half my original dose but it has been hard and I am weary and tired. Should I just stabilize where I am at and then stay there for a little while before I start a decrease again? I will ask the psychiatrist this when I see her. I also notice that I really ned to focus on my gut health.
