We have trams (like a mini train, above the ground) instead of metro in Slovakia, and without the stairs and turnikets I think this could be done. Some stops are longer than others though.
You’re not supposed to run to the next stop; New Yorkers have the ability to activate teleportation to the next stop but always in the middle of the stairs as the train doors are closing.
The way he said "I failed" felt like someone's life depended on his success. Like he's about to get a call telling him that he'll never see his wife again. 🤣
Here is some advice, know where the exit is s you can be right next to the exit. There is also some places where there is even smaller gaps. Make you choose a station with small mezzanines/entrances too.
@@maryammoeen2452 as a new Yorker you will know where the exit is on the stops usually are very quickly on stops you go to often. I usually do it based on where certain signs for the stop is when I get on.
@@mediocre8893 I remember there was a commercial for Spectrum News NY1 that listed things that made you a "real New Yorker," and knowing which car stopped right in front of the exit was one of them. I had been living in NYC for about a year when I saw that ad and laughed, because I was already doing that for my regular commute.
The #1 train will cover 10 blocks in about 2 minutes. They were going downtown, 18th to 14th street, only 4 blocks. The #1 train will cover that distance in about 1 minute... He had to go up 1 level, run 4 blocks, down 1 level, pay his fare, go through the turn style and then down another level to the platform. That train was long gone by the time he reached the platform. He wasn't even there to hear it leave. This challenge can't be done.
I use to live in Gravesend Brooklyn ml. My closest stop was Avenue X on the F train . So if I saw the F train leaving Neptune ave. I'd run up the stairs and catch the train. But what your friend did is impossible.
you can, get out to the nearest door to a stairway that's the nearest to the exit of the enterence to the next station; skip those steps also use body cams or other type then a phone
Honestly, it’s still impressive that he covered the surface distance as fast as he did. Might make running the streets a tad faster than going down into the subway, riding the rail, then coming back up out of the subway.
Normally, I cannot run for more than 15 seconds. One day however, when I was playing paintball, the enemy team of 3 people (I only had 1 ally) got the "bomb" within a few meters of my base. I picked up the bomb and ran 60-100m to the enemy base *without getting hit* and dropped the bomb into their base. I could see the bullets moving past me, and I think I felt the air current from a few of them. Coolest moment in my whole life.

If he had tried such a challenge in the Moscow metro, he would have been disappointed 😅 We have very low stations, it takes about 3-6 minutes to go up or down the escalator, and another 15-30 minutes to walk from one station to another. The stations are so close located in New York, it's cool!!
That was approximately my experience. The train goes about the same speed that I can sprint, but it keeps it up for miles and miles instead of only a few seconds.
