- October is late in the season for Alaska Cruising, but we couldn't resist. We were thrilled with our experience on the Norwegian Encore and share highlights from our magical week-long cruise of the Inside Passage.
My husband and I will be celebrating our 15 year anniversary in October 2026!! We will be booking our Alaska cruise! Thanks for this video

Welcome back....I was wondering where my Lance 2075 buddy went. Time to winterize ours. Just watched your video again.
@George Simpson Thanks George! I’ll be posting a video on winterizing in the next week or two. I’ll actually be soliciting community feedback. This year I’ll be storing our 2075 in our new enclosed storage space. It’s insulated but not climate controlled. I’m considering setting the Truma furnace on electric (we have power inside the storage unit) at 40 degrees. I’m wondering if under those circumstances I may not need to winterize the plumbing. I’ll go into more detail on the video.👍🏻
Any idea how to remove fridge shelves to give fridge a good cleaning
@@georgesimpson2462 if you study the diagrams in the manual very carefully comparing it to your shelves it eventually comes to you. Not very intuitive and do not force them too hard. I was able to figure it out and decided not to remove them frequently. They do come out for cleaning. Good luck

We took the Encore through the Panama Canal earlier this year and loved it. Interesting seeing the pictures onboard. We will be seeing Alaska on the Jewel in October so I was especially interested in your video. We are thinking about taking a whale watching tour, possibly in Juneau. Do you see whales so late in the year? You mentioned Icy Point having whales. Would this be a better place to schedule a whale watching excursion? We are going to be in Victoria late in the evening, too (7pm until midnight). What did you do in Victoria? Thanks for your help. Janice
Hi Janice, thanks for the comment and visiting our channel. Glad you enjoyed the video! Sounds like you guys have some exciting plans ahead. Our Alaska Cruise in October was really nice. Yes, the Ice Straight spot is a great place for whale watching and they have whale watching excursions while you're there that GUARANTEE whale sightings. We passed on this and spent the day relaxing and enjoying other aspects of Icy Straight but we heard from fellow cruisers that the guarantee was legit and they did see whales. Other than that, we saw a few whales from the ship as we were cruising through certain areas coming into Juneau. Overall just an awesome cruise. As for Victoria, it was a brief visit and we've done this cruise twice. The first time we took a Rickshaw tour around the city which was fun. The second time we took a bus up to a space telescope observatory overlooking the city. Both were great experiences, although different. On both occasions we were only in Victory for a few hours so your choices are limited. Hope you enjoy your adventures and good luck!
What is the pool open during this cruise? Also, what was the pool temperature? If so?
Yes, the pool was open. We had a spa pass for the week so only used the pool in the spa (which was nice...and warm). I don't know what the temp of the outside pool.
Was the water rough? I was thinking of taking a trip with my family in oct 2024 but read that the water can bw really rough. It will be our first cruise with kids (7 months, 4 years)
Thanks for stopping by our channel. We were pretty fortunate, overall the water wasn't rough at all. We caught some really nice weather (although pretty cool) but from what I've heard this isn't always the case.

How long was the cruise?
@blakelewis8547 Hi there, thanks for stopping by. We boarded the ship at noon on a Sunday and were sailing at 5pm (out of Seattle). We arrived back at the pier in Seattle the following Sunday at 6am and de boarded around 9am ish.
We leave on the Encore Oct 1st. How was the disembarking? I heard it’s horrible. I’m worried about catching a flight for 11am
Exciting! You’ll love this cruise…enjoy! As for disembarking….it’s a process. It’ll be tight for an 11am flight because the ship arrives to port at 6am and they don’t start disembarking I think until 8 or so. Here’s some tips:
1) I would definitely check with the customer service desk BEFOREHAND and notify them of your early flight to see if they can help you get off the ship as soon as possible.
2) make sure your account is clean and you don’t have any unsettled expenses, etc.
3) I would take your bags with you .

@Leah Franks Hi Leah…this cruise was first week of October and it was perfect. Not choppy at all and good, mild weather in the 50’s. We loved it. With that said, I think they stop cruising to Alaska mid October. That late in October might be rough.

@amalmol123 Hello…thanks for stopping by our channel. We personally did not go on a whale watching excursion but others on our cruise did and reported seeing whales. 🐳🐋

Thinking about going in October. I've been told a lot of things are closed by than. Did you experience things closed?
@sportsMike87 Hi Mike...thanks for stopping by our channel. Our cruise was the first week of October and we had taken this same cruise a couple of years ago in August. By comparison, a few things in Juneau and Ketchikan were closed but it wasn't too bad. There was still plenty to see and do. Our October cruise stopped in Icy Strait instead of Skagway. I heard that Skagway is probably winding down with a lot of stuff closed in October but I'm not sure as we didn't go there. Skagway was buzzing in August on our previous cruise. The October trip seemed a little more laid back for us so we didn't mind it at all and the weather was cooler but very nice. Hope that helps and good luck!
