On this, I'm playing a '64 Epiphone Casino through a Boss ME-50 multi-effects pedal, with a bunch of effects going at once: "presence" tone mod, some chorus, moderate reverb, and high compression/sustain. Most importantly, I'm playing through two amps at once (Vox AC30 & an 80's Roland Jazz Chorus). This provides a much fuller, rich tone, I think. Good luck with it, and thanks for stopping by.

+colin barber Congrats on owning a wonderful guitar. Your opening Pandora's box by asking me such a question... I'd suggest a few amps as standouts: the Vox AC30 or AC15, a Fender Twin Reverb (or any number of Fender amps, like the Princeton (esp. the paisley one), Vibrolux, etc), or a Roland Jazz Chorus 50 or 120. Also, be sure you have some good effects to get the most out of your playing experience. I highly recommend the Boss ME-50 multi-effects pedal. It's an older pedal now, so priced low on Ebay, I'm sure... It's all I use and it gives me all the tonal variations I would ever want.

Thus, by the time I get the request, I've often gotten a bit rusty on the song, and would need practice time to play it through again well. Just me being lazy, I guess... Great stuff, very clear but I can't help wondering if you were more face-on to the camera, it might be easier to see rather than at an angle? Probably difficult to do with having to be so close to your camera?
Yes, Gibsons and Epiphones were made in the same factory using the same materials back in the 60's, so a 60's Epi is basically a Gibson of the era and vice-versa.

Hi. I'm playing through two amps here, across the room from one another (Vox AC30 & Roland Jazz Chorus). That makes a big difference. I'm also running some reverb and mild chorus, which on my Boss ME-50 Multi-effects system, really enriches the sound between the amps.
when we look at the "'yes" video on youtube where we clearly see johnny playing this song. half the time the positions are not what you'Re playing ,m and johnny uses those different positions to have a bass note ring out while he plays the melody. which is impossible in the way you show it here. But nice arrangment for easier playing nonetheless. :)
Cammy That's right... Morrissey sings so many songs with the capo on 2nd fret, the guitar tech just has certain guitars already tuned UP a whole step.. This is probably so he can use his whammy bar and not have any sticking or slipping of strings that might get hung up if using a capo and trem bar, together... Just a guess though. BTW, your epiphone sounds "out of this world!!!" :)
Also it may be helpful to actually play the song in the first half of the video so we can see you do it and the second half breaking it down into the tutorial.
Your transcriptions are pretty accurate but your workflow is too slow. Instead of spelling it out with the string and fret numbers (yawn) try placing the camera directly in front of the fret board so we can see what is going on. Most of Marr's playing style is based on chord shapes and its fairly quick to pick up this way. maybe if you said those instead you might be able to shave off about 3 minutes worth of talk.
Modfather1965 You don't even need to name the chord. Just tell us the shape. Am shape can be barred and transposed. Em shape can be barred and transposed. You get the idea. Another common Marr chord is the major7 shape again barred (10th fret in this song) is a lot quicker than saying 5th string 10th fret 4th string 12th fret 3rd string 11th fret 2nd string 12th fret 1sxt string 10th fret (nearly fell asleep writing that).
