I just heard this as the close of his 70th birthday show at the Village Vanguard. It brought a tear to my eye - we've all had a lot to overcome over the past year and more, every one of us. Thank you Bill, and many happy returns.
listening Sunday morning after the announced election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris... Just perfect. with bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston we get a minimalist take on this classic civil rights anthem. There are numerous wonderful covers of on this tune. Frisells take is a humble soft spoken version that speaks eloquently. This comes from Frisells's recently released 'Valentine' album, which is worthy of checking out.
Every sound that comes out of his guitar is pure, solid gold.
Indeed

Without doubt, my favourite guitarist on the planet. Such a great version of this song.

Consistent, heartfelt music that never disappoints. Dare I say genius? Yes, I do.
Stay strong. Forever fix your mind and heart on the truth. Together we shall overcome together.
