- This is something I've wanted to do forever. Make a tire cooler using a windsheild washer reservoir with pump. After a run you can spray the tires, cooling the back to optimal temp, which will make them last much longer.

Let me know what you thought of this video!
Taylor Ray is budget build beast!
Wire it up so Traction Control engages the pump!
@@htx_donut_patrol4628 Wow, that was so long ago that when I re-read my comment, I was even a little impressed!
I can’t miss a video of yours recently, best balanced automotive CZcamsr imo, the right amount of personality, information and fun. Keep up the good work!
Thats literally the best thing if you are drifting on a budget
Spraying at the top of the wheel well you'll end up spraying more water into the well. If you spray infront of the tire you'd get most of the water on the tires as compared to blowing most of it at the back of the wheel well.
stefan samotulka, I like the way you think.
??
Blake Jankowski picture a circle moving through the air. You have more air contact at the forward most point of the circle. At the top you have turbulent air moving so fast that it will want to expel the water Away from the tire as compared to on to it. The closer to the leading point of the tire has the most direct air movement and will direct water on to the tire as compared to away from it.
agreed.
Keep in mind this is not pumping water mid-drift. It's used for cooling the tire when sitting on grid. You'll want it on the top so you get equal flow down the front and back of the tire.
maybe swap them out with methanol injection nozzles, nice fine misty pattern and use less fluid
dude nothing is more satisfying than blowing holes in shit with a stepper
Sloppy Mechanics I suppose but it would cost more than $17
I need a new video!!! Denmah
Great idea! Would be cool to use one of those infrared Road temperature gauges n Mount it so it points at the tire n monitor the tire Temperature.
great idea, I saw they do this with the PVC K drift cars in japan on noriyaru's vid. I'm interested to see the results of the tests!
i watched the same video!
Jeff Stein on
For testing purposes it may make more sense to run only one nozzle for a set of tires and seeing how much tread is left on the one with the water sprayer. That way the driving style on the tires is kept as a control since the experiment is being done on the same laps as both with having a water sprayer and with not having a water sprayer.
The tire life comparison video ideas (different brands, and with/without sprayer) are fantastic!!
It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood
@12:20 that was the most Floridian dad thing Ive ever heard and I know this because I live in Florida and I hear dads say it exactly like that all the time
I’ve always been confused on wiring and this video made it so simple
Great idea and great video as always👌🏻🔥
Exhausted Japan did it first, but it is an awesome idea!
Go to the junkyard and get another nozzle and a bigger tank all for like $10
The first time i have heard such a thing and i am about to go try it😂
Paanduh_opz 2468 this is an old trick Hot rodders would use to help with burnouts...they would just add bleach to the water to make more smoke.
Smart idea. I had a buddy do this, it worked until the sprayers get covered in rubber unless you figure that out. Good video
Just the quality of the vid alone deserves a like 👌👍
Thanks for having long videos!!!!!
Dude this video was rad, as always. But every time I see one of your thumbnails in my recommended, I recognise it as yours, and instantly get super excited that the Miata is back but it hasn't been for a while! so hyped to see it caged and continuing with the build.
Get a one way check valve to stop water either running back to the tank or out of the nozzle at the wrong time. Good video. Please continue. P
You should totally label the mist switch NOS lol
Good idea. If it’s possible so switch it back to both tires after testing, but both sprayers on one tire and after burning up a set you can get a side by side comparison and then set one of the sprayers back to the other tire
@lexuslowlife great idea man.
Back when I was in school I got to work on an M5 drift taxi from the Falken drift team. They had a similar setup like this, only alot bigger where they straight up used a big garden hose to spray water onto the rear tires. I thought that was pretty interesting
Omg Taylor please paint those black fenders blue they drive my OCD crazy 😂🤣 great video actually really interesting 👍🏼
Hell yes ice cream truck for the win!!
Excited to see how well this works
I asked myself a million times why no one is using this over there here in Germany many guys use this to last longer on one set of tires
MrFiestaxxl where the heck can you legally drift in Germany?
who said legally? there are a few places i know but nothing major like in the states
Wo kann man hier Driften? Legal ists doch nur auf den Rennstrecken auf nassen Anfängerrouten
squirrelsalmon Nurburgring drift track when its open
MrFiestaxxl meinst du so etwas wie Gewerbegebiet? Oder gibt es wirkloch irgentwo in DE auch mehr oder weniger abgelegene Teerplätze?
Hey Taylor, your handcrimps looked good. The QD (Quick Disc.) should take about 20-30 pounds to pull off. (And is designed to pull off when force is exherted, if it rips the wire it was too tight. Liking your vids =) Will be watching more.
If you use a straight pin usually you can real name all of the squirters to a tighter pattern or for a windshield a bigger pattern
There’s a factory grommet behind the battery you can run the wires through. Stupid easy. Also, they cool down cycle on the heat gun prolongs the life of the gun. It’s annoying but very functional. The cheap ones I’ve had always died early because of this.
Those nozzles flow way too much, you need more of a mist, same with intercooler sprayers
I know in Aus you can get decent mist spray nozzles from most garden/hardware shops, i would try that
Awesome stuff man!
Really pumped to see how you are testing tyres, different budget ones! that's really the stuff i'm into!
Cheers
on a budget should be: windshield fluid pump (scrapyard) + 5 gallon tank (any homeware store) + hoses and 12V programmable switch (or relay + clock), last only for those that want it spray automaticly every 0.x seconds
Yesss, i have also been thinking of doing this for a while. Excited to see if its worth it!
Seen ppl get banned or black flags after officials seen it during tech or the water on the track during your run. Just make sure it's legal before you have a bad day bro! Great vids!
john roberson in competitions or?
In forumal drift not just fun drifting
Padraig O Driscoll I've seen it on drag tracks used as cheap intercooler sprayers with ice water. Guy was banned from the track. And I've seen ppl use it in pro/am and amatuer drift events for less traction get made to remove them before returning back to the track. The officals thought the guy was leaking fuel at one track. Same guy another track, made to leave for "purposely cheating" wetting the track and causing problems for chase cars in tandems. Been a little bit. But ask any track if you can leak water/fluids on the track and still run and see what they say...
john roberson well I was just wondering why it wasnt allowed and people were getting banned. For a pro am / fd/ drag racing its seems unfair to use it to your advantage but just at track days and not competitions where people are using it to save tires banning seems a bit harsh also I thought the people using them cool down there tires in the pits or between laps surely they wouldn't get enough water on the track to make a difference
But he does make a good point, while we all know that Taylor is a veteran at OSW depending on how much water actually stays on track I could see where it would become a safety concern. Like John said, it could lead to problems for the chase car. however if it were to be used on the off track and in pits, or in a designated cool-down-lap area I wouldn't see there to be a problem. I've been to a few events where just as you come off track that have a "wet-pan" which is just a giant puddle thats a few inches deep that we would all idle through on our way back to the pits to cool the tires down before getting back in line.
I've been watching your videos lately its so helpful specially to guy like me new and still learning to drift since
Quick question bro your black shifter is that a extension or comes with the short shifter??
Do you think you could try iced water? Maybe the tires could last even longer 🤔
This used to be the mod all my stupid holden commodore friends did in Australia, but the janky way rerouting the oem windshield sprayer lol. So funny seeing them do a skid with the wipers going haha
Awesome content as per usual Taylor :)
effort on editing the intro was worth it, super sick.
Go to your local gardening store and get some small sprinkler nozzles. they will give you better water coverage. they come in 90 and 180 degree spray pattern.
when you get the 5 gal tank you should buy a beer funnel to funnel water into it and make filling it easier. could then keep it in your car as a prop lmao like "oh no i dont party but my car does"
Awesome dude. I did this on my stunt bike a few years ago!
They do this in japan. It’s also in Noriyaro vids
I just love the cool intro edits as always!
You can add an “anti siphon” loop in the hose that goes up higher than the tank top and it should allow the tank to be mounted lower
A heads up if your after more of a mist you can use Honda jazz/fit washer jets might stop you using so much water
U could use those little containers u Get from the bubble gum machine to go over it so smoke don’t get in or like half of a plastic Easter egg and drill a hole big enough for the hose just a suggestion
Dude that's tight!!!I love the idea of it!!❤❤
Just an idea you could put rubbing alcohol in the containers and it would the cool the tires much better because of how quick it evaporates and it wouldn't leave water on the track
was curious if anyone had done this...quick google and this vid pops up. We will be trying it on our E39 drift build! Maybe we will see you out at OSW
Highly recommend getting crimping pliers I use them everytime I'm doing electrical at work
Try irrigation spray nozzles from a gardening shop they're cheap, adjustable and spray like a sprinkler.
all of the above for the video ideas. will give you a day or 2 where you don't have to film anything aswell so its a win win for everyone
Florida seems so nice
LowBoost until summer temps hit.
I seen this idea on noriyaros page where they were drifting front wheel drive cars. great idea.
Perotan's 86 was the first time i seen this, seems legit👌. Look foward to seeing the results
That ice cream van scared the shit outa me
It's safer to SWITCH THE GROUND. Don't run power through your dash and switch when you can have constant power to the accessory and the switch activates the ground connection. Much safer and the accessory gets better power.
The cool down mode is so pointless omg your great Dude great content!
Noriyaru showed this guy coming off the track in ebisu and he had sprayers like this for the same reason
ICE CREAM!! 🍦
You want to get mister jets rather than the squirty ones I’d have thought, so you get a more even spread.
Awesome idea though!
I find this so interesting. I have never heard of this. Mind. Blown
love the Concept but I'm skeptical about the amount this will actually increase tire life
You should use a delay off relay. Seems like if you pushed the button once and got a 15 second spray that would better then the monetary on or a fixed on off switch
U should put the spyer button on group of ur shifter that way it will be easier to use like drill a hole in ur shifter and insert it
You should do a battery relocation to the rear would be cool video on how to do it right
Taylor I saw the Japanese using similar on some drift cars running tyres and almost all of them running on the plastic hoops on the outside of a tyre and they say they need them on the hoops or they split quickly but cooled thay last all day and more. Taylor you need a toggle switch on the water pump press and hold while you are drifting round a corner with both hands operating the wheel.
Pump the water out with a walbro 255
I hope the mist is fine enough to not leave droplets on the track. That could change the track conditions enough to throw other people off on their runs.
I would use it in the exit lane first to make sure not to put water on the track.
This is a really cool idea. Interested to see how it translates on the track
The pump can be higher than the nozzles as long as the hose is higher than the pump at some point. You should control the pump with pwm to reduce the flow.
Nice little mod! Hey, whatever happened with Marco? You guys used to always hangout/work on cars, feel like I havent seen him in one of you videos in agessssssssssssssssss
Great idea but actually you want to spray behind the wheels so they carry the mist forward in rotation. Also in true CZcams fashion....no relay used. Please pretty please use a relay and definitely fuse the harness going through the door gap. Safety first dude. Great video as usual. Well done.
I like it. But honestly, the way you cut and fabricate is kinda terrifying.
You should run a relay in the tire spraying system so it will run spray for 2 seconds then off for 4. that way you can then run it on a switch and not have it just immediately run out of water
You wanna press that push button while drifting? Maybe use a switch instead to turn it on before the run, so its constantly spraying water onto your tires?
You should be able to use a pin, or something similar, to aim the nozzles a small amount once mounted. They may rotate inside the housing.
Good idea 👍
this is what people in japan are using on their FWD Kei cars for PVC drifting, surprised it hasn't been used for normal drifiting
You should loop the lines and make a trap so when sliding no worries of gravity feed. Just a simple loop
Great budget build Taylor. Only thing, I think youre gonna want a toggle switch instead. just my humble opinion
Might this make the car a little unpredictable as the amount of water on the tires would constantly change?
Potentially
I think you need to wire the sprayers to pulse, like a turn signal flasher relay or something. That way you can put in a toggle switch like the fan override and just have a consistent coating as you're doing a lap.
Taylor why not use garden sprinkler nossels, they don't just spray two streams but almost makes a mist like spray. I think you need to look for flower or small plant sprinklers. Did you get this idea from Japan through Alexi?
Listening to this video while changing my radiator at 10:30p because I have work tomorrow. #JustE46Things -_- Anyways, thanks for all the awesome vids!
This is cool i always wanted to steal the suby sti intercooler sprayer idea to cool intercooler. also thought about trying to spray vht out on tires lol
Use a mix of 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water to cool them tires off real good
Im ready to see some action at the compound, take the z
I wanna see the works back on the vette. They looked so good
Any plan of attack for keeping rubber to not clog those up? Or am I just overthinking this?
not boring.
2020 so how'd this work out? Too much hassle? Sprayers break? Smoke getting in?
Hey Taylor, is that momentary switch meant to be used with spade connectors? Or a direct solder
Cinamatics are gettimg way better. 👏👏👏👏👏
One of the guys in one of Noriyaro and Runningfree86's videos does this, and swears by it. Very interested to see.
Y would u want a button that u have to try and push on top of everything else ur going to be doing while drifting ?
Fire intro editing , so much work on that
You could add a time relay so it sprays for a set amount of time without holding the button. Might be handy...
Use fire sealant from home depot to seal it not silicone it will hold up better and you won't need a cap
