Fun fact - The computer grafix of the music video by Dire Straits was also made using an Atari in the 80s. The Atari ST ! So, little brother can also play videos in many colours now. Superb.
Well, the little atari has more in common with an Amiga than it does an ST, but... Sure. XD Apparently you can coax an Atari 8 bit to do 4096 colours, which is ridiculous...
Ooh a bit of a high pitched whine while the video plays. I don't have a SIDE or MyIDE; is it typical SIO noise it's making? Also, is the video full screen? (80x192 (80x96 since it's APAC)) Or smaller? I figure the raw video data would be almost 8KB/frame, so 400KB worth of data per second, or 24MB per minute. So what's that, 3GB for a 2hr movie? ;)
I think the verdict is still out on the cause of the noise. As mentioned on the AtariAge thread (post 146), I have tried different CF cards from two manufacturers and on one the sound played OK.
the noise is a distortion of the video editor i used when it compiled the video after adding the 2nd part where i explain how to create a CF card.. the high pitch noise does not exist in the original recording.. check here: czcams.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=g15X1ZIINcE
Yes, it's a software thing, but it happens at a very low level. There is actually a dedicated 5th audio channel for those sounds. On the earliest models it was completely independent and there was a speaker built into the computers just for that sound. Later it got mixed into the regular audio.
I've seen a homebrew port of Dragon's lair on the Ti-99 which uses FMV scenes unlike the official game on the computer which is completely different than the arcade, and homebrew port.
Ah finally, I can watch CZcams on my Atari 800!
Man are you not able to hear the horrible Hugh pith whine in the audio output?
Do R/C! Yes i do.. The pitch is do to bad video conversion in the other demos its better
Amazing!
Some hardware high pitch filter would be nice.
This is,exactly what I was trying to do , I didn't know the Atari 8 bits were this powerful can u make a video for the vbxe please?
Yes, that music video and Tron look great, but those have strong primary colours. How does it look with ordinary subtle shades and flesh tones?
take a look at the AA thread, it has various video demos

Money for Nothing was (I believe) created with the Bosch FGS-4000 CGI system. The clip was made before the first 520ST went for sale.
oh, maybe the Dire Straits / Atari ST is just an old hoax then.

I bet. I feel like the ST rumor was from someone wanting to act like the Atari was that good (the Amiga obviously did video better in the end).
Thanks a million it's down to people like u that I have to add this url/link to my eggnchips swine yi rrrr

The video is full screen, Phareon found a way to play at full screen...
the high pitch you hear is due to poor Audio conversion

Any link to download ?
Do all Ataris make a beeping noise when loading, or is that some software thing being to indicate that disk access is occurring?
its the disk access (sio sound)

LDA #$00
STA $0041
That will silence IO sounds.
where can I buy the cartridge
Lotharek from Poland sell them, you can find it in his online shop
Challenge indeed
here the link to the thread on AtariAge - atariage.com/forums/topic/211689-60-fps-video-using-side-2/?hl= 60 fps
Oke, now start converting the old CD-rom videomovie games of the 80s to Atari. Death Trap (Sega), etc.
I've seen a homebrew port of Dragon's lair on the Ti-99 which uses FMV scenes unlike the official game on the computer which is completely different than the arcade, and homebrew port.
But why?
Just because he can
