The number isn't to do with how many, it's specifically the colour codes they use, all the white watches are 7, blues are 2, and for example yellow (including gold) is 9, silver and black is 1, and so on, so don't hold out for many more versions of these

Yup, I was rushing to make a similar post. I'm surprised Jody didn't know this, as someone who has reviewed many Casios over the years. Those last numbers specify colors and often indicate the country codes. Virtually every letter or number in the model code has a meaning.

This is why I love this channel, review of an actual physical watch. Not a review where the reviewer also looks at a picture over the internet. I just hate those channels. If they can't get one sent to them, at least invest and buy the watch yourself for review
6:06 the 2AJR and 7AJR does not mean they are number two and seven in a series. They are just codes for what colors the watches are. The 2 in 2AJR means the watch is blue, and the 7 in 7AJR means the watch is white.
Also the R means that it's a limited edition model. A normal blue watch from Casio would end in 2AJF for the jdm models, 2ACR / 2ADR / 2AER for the different international models

Very similar to the D1 Milano aesthetics. But definitely beautiful as well.
I do like how the sky blue version looks, but the white one is more true to the manga inspiration since manga is usually black and white outside of the cover. Plus, as you say, it goes with more outfits.

Interesting that they chose to keep this one "Japan only", since the US has such a big comic book market, you would say it would be a good market for this watch too.
they always keep their best stuff to themselves, which is understandable.
I'm based in Japan, there's also plenty of amazing G Shock models that are released in US or HK/Singapore etc that are not released in Japan so I have to get them imported...so they don't necessarily keep the best stuff for themselves...seriously no idea how and why they decide on the regions.

I gave it a google and, in the UK at least, Casio have them priced up at £139.00 with the ability to sign up to be notified when they become available. Hopefully they won't be as hard to get hold of as certain other plastic quartz watches in fun colours!..

Still don't know why they keep using the negative displays, when they, and everyone else knows what a pain they are to read.
The MIPS ones are great, they should use those all the time
In this very specific case, I can accept it as it's closer to a black and white look as you'd find on a manga page. Otherwise it's definitely put me off buying some of their watches in the past
Tbh I like the way in which negative display looks on my all black G, and I have no trouble reading it either (vast majority of the time that is, but if it gets dark I just use the LED and I can read it with no issues)
Honestly I just hate the colour of the positive display, that flat grey is just really off-putting to me in comparison to the rest of the watch. More practical? Sure, but I still don't like the way it looks.
I've also never found them super hard to read like everyone says. It's just usually a matter of changing the angle. Why is that such a hard thing?
For japanese gshock users, negative display is more 'cool' than positive as it symbolise 'old school'. so many japan exclusive models tend to sell well in negative. :)
The white one is my preference. I wish this was available in the USA. Very cool looking watch.
The blue looks more legible to me. That would be my pick. Unless they come out with a purple version.
I like the yellow hand on the white one, since the white resin case and band will most likely turn yellow over time.
The white one with a module swap to get a usable LCD, and probably a new minutes hand too, the yellow doesn't show enough. Maybe even a red or orange hand would be nice looking.
Gotta love Casio: they are so creative with the G-Shock. I could easily see one being my 2nd - I’m sure I’d smile every time I put it on.
Blue looks nice, white kind of hurts my eyes… the effect makes my eyes try to focus in and out to make out the depth and textures and doesn’t work for me.
I got the white one. Looks awesome but trying to set it using Google translate and a barely legible digital screen is a proper ballache though 😅
I got both the blue and white off the uk Casio website,I prefer the white as it looks more handrawn,but as you say a black outline on the yellow hand would have made it pop,the blue is more every day watch as whites a pain to keep clean,would have liked the dimensions to have been bigger on the dial face but overall not being into the manga scene myself there pretty quirky.😊
i paid a cursory visit to the G-shock shop in london and ended up walking out with 2 new BGD-10K series baby-Gs. Got 2 because they're almost like lego but with watches allowing me to mix and match bezels straps and modules.
I also saw a lot of fantastic new colours of the casioak and DW6900 series. these new colours are fantastic.
I would love to see a smaller form factor. My daughter would love one if it fit her.
I love the 2100's. Add chalk-yellow, pepto-pink, and seasick-green.

That blue looks fantastic. Big fan of the style. I was very close to getting one but I’m a diehard fan of the 5600 style over the 2100. I’m hoping they release something for the square style fans out there. I would buy it in a heartbeat
White with a blood spatter effect would be a good manga addition
Very nice watches. I think the blue would look even better with white hour markers. Solid lume hour markers would be exceptional. A positive display would make it so much more legible.

If you had some time you cpuld get the white version, that doesnt have the negative screen (i have this version), and then one or 2 of those paint pens a med and super thin tip one and just do this up on the watch yourself, if you cant get it in from japan, or if you prefer a non negative screen version. I suspect we might see some mod kits come out with similar options.

Casio is consistent with numbering. 2 is often blue. They have left numbers for black and other colors. It would be perfect if blue had positive display
I wanted the blue one but waited too long and it sold out. I will not pay the $300 - $400 price the eBayers are charging. I can hopefully get one when they release in June in other countries. I would LOVE to see a red, yellow, or orange version BUT with positive display...PLEASE!!

I'm surprised it's not using the GMA footprint also, kids would love it, but the size might be on the upper limit of a smaller wrist. Daughters 15th Birthday present looks sorted now. MNG in reference means MANGA, numbers are sinonimus for specific color. 1 is black, 2 blue, 7 white...

I would probably prefer a square in the future rather than a differnt colour, I think casio would do well to do differnt models rather than colours, but stop the limited release
The digital display on the oak is not good, and the Oak's are too small looking on my large wrist, so it is my least worn G

Bought the blue one from the Carnaby Street shop in London. Only one they had! Very cool and already it's been noticed. The negative display is terrible but I don't care.

Just putting this out there. The Jay and Kays band adapters are the best I found.
I like most of what you show, Jody, but I've got to say, inexpensive Casios just aren't lighting my fire any more. A "hand-drawn" "comic" version is got to be as far from a slick, well-finished, steel and sapphire bit of wrist candy I can imagine. I'm really more fond of their other end (e.g. Oceanus).
Casio should do an opposite of the white one with black and with a regular display.

I can see Casio will release a specific Manga colour to increase sales; think Orange/Black/White/Blue as the “Dragonball - Goku” edition. White/Blue/Red for “Gundam - RX78” edition and so on.
These are cool but my next Gshock I want is a 5600 tough solar with MIP (but without heart rate and activity stuff). That will be *the* hottest G shock we get in decades!
The number following the dash on Casio model numbers is an indicator of the primary color of the watch.
i'm very lucky to got my hands on the white one. Had many friends that flew to japan to hunt for these found themselves paying above retail at stores that had these physically. All Gshock stores are official sold out. i pre ordered from distributor early last month when i saw these displayed at a watch convention. it's a no brainer for a manga/anime fan. haha
I pre-ordered mine when they first teased the models. Just received mine about a week ago.. looks much better in person than pics and videos.

By the way, the numbers in the model reference do not indicate more upcoming versions. Casio just uses their regular naming system, where the last number indicates the color of the watch. 2 for blue and 7 for white.

Pretty cool releases, shame the hands get lost on the white one, defeats the purpose if you can't read the time at a glance, nice fashion accessories though. Will hold out for more colours at a reasonable price 😂.
I'd be kind of interested in a version that didn't use a speech bubble- it makes some sense, but it feels a bit too cartoonish for the look the rest of the thing has.

The GM2100 is one of the best watches I own. Perfect watch for hollidays, as it does everything I need, AND it looks ridiculously good.

Out of the two, I'd go for that blue one. However, if they made other colors, I'd choose lemon yellow.

The problem I have with these is that they are marketed as a manga watch but manga isn't shaded like that. Western comics use dotted patterns for shading. The japanese use cut out bits of shaded paper. They look alright but they're clearly of a western design and Casio are capitalising on the fact that people now prefer manga over western comics.
So if manga is the concept ..they should make some more in vaporwave/cyberpunk type colors like purple , green, yellow. My 2 cents.
These last numbers mean the color on Casio watches. 2 stands for blue and 7 stands for white. 1 is black, 3 is green, 4 is orange, red & pink, 5 is copper and brown, 6 is purple, 8 is grey and 9 is yellow or gold.
