A brief introduction into the exciting game that is Agricola. Rather than spend too long on all the ins and outs of the game I tried to highlight the core actions etc. available to a new player.
Thank you - playing first time, with three people and we were completely lost! The rules are not very well written for a first time player - you made more sense to us in 2 minutes than 45 minutes reading the rules!
Me and a friend tried to play this, I heard so much good about it, but the rules are HORRIBLY WRITTEN. Like, wow. It was so overwhelming. This video helps a lot, thanks.
My husband and I were also disappointed we haven't tried again, but I just thought today to watch a tutorial. We felt like we couldn't get anywhere because of the food, it was so slow to build and just felt super frustrating. It was also a game where two new individuals have no idea what sort of strategy to employ so we were guessing at what would be a good strategy!
Best Agricola tutorial so far. I've watched about 5 agricola tutorials before this one, and this is the only one who really covers everything. Good job!
I wish I watched this video before I played for the first time last night. Took us about 2 hours to get started and about 3 hours to play with 4 players ( 1 even went home around round 12 ) This was also only playing with the "E" decks.
The animals that you "use" to make 1 other animal in the harvest round, you can't use for food to prevent from getting the begging cards. (So 3 animals can't be used for food if one of them is a newborn).
I am on the cusp of purchasing Agricola for myself and have been getting lost in many different tutorial, playthrough and review videos. While I am not much of a "Euro" player, this one intrigues me. It seems to be just light enough to not be a bore, but has a nice amount of theme in its farming/civilization flavor. I need to make sure I have the ani-meeples, though, as cubes are SO bland. Thanks for actually showing some turn action. A few other videos glossed over that. I haven't played this game yet but I feel I have the basic idea down ^_^
Hey Chris, I was wondering where you got your version of Agricola? I am currently looking for an English version of Agricola in Europe (myself being in Germany). I also noticed that you had meeples for resources, animals and grain & veggies. Did these come included or did you purchase them additionally (if so, where :). Thanks so much for the reply!
I think that some of the very basic instructions were skipped in this video. The camera cuts to a new scene and all of the sudden a bunch of new stuff is on the board. A walk-through of a single turn without skipping off to describe cards not being used in that turn would have suited my video-learning tastes a lot better. But I won't down-vote because that is just not cool.
I just bought it and I believe it only comes with ani-meeples but not with the resource-meeples. I do not recommend playing the family version, it's quite boring, play with normal rules since the beginning.

I agree. I was surprised how such a popular game could have such poorly written rules. A major letdown that caused us to play something else.

Seriously! It took my game club's entire meeting to read the rules and we learned later that we played it totally wrong!
We played the first time with 5 stoners and it took about the same time.

Private forest only give wood on even round spaces. So its 7 wood if its played in round 1.

13:20 - Czech deck. Czechoslovakia don't exist anymore - since 1993. Not a big problem though :-)

Interactive Deck sounds interesting. If that's an expansion is that what I google? Because it only comes up with forums when I do.
Where do I get the X and G deck at?

The interactive deck should be included in the base game.
I think the family game is pretty gateway, place some fences get some sheep job done. It's not ticket to ride but its not impossible. Ymmv
