  • Many months after the Supreme Court setback, there is a silver lining for the queer community again. The Supreme Court may consider a private hearing of the review petitions that argue that the verdict is self-contradictory and against the fundamental rights of queer individuals. Watch petitioners recount their journey so far in the fight for marriage equality.

Time to correct some fundamental doctrinal errors with the marriage equality verdict. Fingers crossed! But I feel that the petitioners must also learn from their mistakes and settle for incremental change rather than demand a radical overhaul of the status quo, which should ideally be ushered in through legislative action.

many people use various sorts of arguments such as homosexuality being 'against Indian culture' and unfortunately it was also used the last time, but why do people not realize that it was the Britishers who outlawed these practices in 1861 and later they also accepted it themselves in 1967. 13:48 see text in main panel. Religions may like to think that they have the monopoly on marriage but the expression of commitment between people comes first, then the couple decides whether or not to seek a blessing of their union from their favoured holy person. Most countries provide a registry office wedding so the blessing of the church is neither here nor there; it follows that the opinions of religions are of little importance when considering what constitutes marriage. 14:05 No, it's the lack of legal recognition that wreaks havoc in the lives of established couples. 14:32 Plenty of barren het marriages about. 14:40 Sol. Gen's view of 'Indian context' goes back little further than 100 years, he needs to expand his scope of history. 12:41 Whatever rights hets have, we want them.

The truth is, with greater awareness and education, people are finally throwing off the Colonial-era homophobic hangover. These laws banning such relationships should never have been there in the first place, it's high time they were overturned.

People who are having open relationship and swinging in hotels are asking for MARRIAGE laws. Why do they need a union when their lifestyle doesn't permit it. The main focus is children. Children are only for married people. N they want that.

It's funny how selective those two can be. They ask for tolerance towards their religion, complain about attacks on them and their values, say that they're being unheard in a democratic country. Yet when tolerance and equality expand to anything that they don't like, they go up-in-arms against those very ideals
