  • Covid-19: Researcher blows the whistle on data integrity issues in Pfizer’s vaccine trial,
Revelations of poor practices at a contract research company
    www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj.n...
    Pfizer’s pivotal covid-19 vaccine trial,
raise questions about data integrity and regulatory oversight
    This was the original paper
    www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056...
    Autumn 2020
Pfizer’s chairman and chief executive, Albert Bourla
As I’ve said before, we are operating at the speed of science
    Ventavia Research Group
    www.ventaviaresearch.com
Researchers were testing Pfizer’s vaccine at several sites in Texas
A regional director, Brook Jackson has told The BMJ that the company
    falsified data
    unblinded patients
    employed inadequately trained vaccinators
was slow to follow up on adverse events reported in Pfizer’s pivotal phase III trial
Staff who conducted quality control checks were overwhelmed by the volume of problems they were finding.
US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were informed
Ventavia fired her later the same day.
The BMJ has been provided with dozens of internal company documents, photos, audio recordings, and emails.
    She repeatedly informed her superiors
    poor laboratory management
    patient safety concerns
    data integrity issues
that drug assignment confirmation printouts were being left in participants’ charts, accessible to blinded personnel (later corrected)
company wasn’t able to quantify the types and number of errors they were finding when examining the trial paperwork for quality control
    ICON, the contract research organisation
    www.iconplc.com/services/clin...
ICON then highlighted over 100 outstanding queries older than three days
    Worries over FDA inspection
    Concerns raised
Participants placed in a hallway after injection and not being monitored by clinical staff
Lack of timely follow-up of patients who experienced adverse events
    Protocol deviations not being reported
Vaccines not being stored at proper temperatures
    Mislabelled laboratory specimens
Targeting of Ventavia staff for reporting these types of problems.
FDA advisory committee meeting held on 10 December 2020
    Problems at Ventavia not mentioned
The next day the FDA issued the authorisation of the vaccine
In August this year, after full FDA approval of Pfizer’s vaccine
FDA published that 9 of the trials 153 sites were inspected
FDA, full trial swabs were not taken from 477 people with suspected cases of symptomatic covid-19
    Other employees’ accounts
everything that you complained about was spot on
Two former Ventavia employees spoke to The BMJ anonymously for fear of reprisal and loss of job prospects in the tightly knit research community
I don’t think it was good clean data
    It’s a crazy mess
Pfizer has hired Ventavia as a research subcontractor on four other vaccine clinical trials
covid-19 vaccine in children and young adults
    pregnant women
    a booster dose
    an RSV vaccine trial
    NCT04816643, NCT04754594, NCT04955626, NCT05035212).

Medical journals have neither the means nor the responsibility to inspect drug companies. Medical journals do not have the responsibility to verify data. FDA and the other regulatory agencies around the world have the responsibility to inspect clinical research data for completeness and accuracy. The system assumes that researchers (authors of the articles) have report the data as accepted by FDA. Peer reviewers review the article for the validity of the scientific arguments drawn from the data reported in the article. They don’t and can’t adjudicate the integrity of their peers (the authors). It is a system of divided responsibilities, as it should be.
Accountability for deliberate misrepresentation of data comes after the article is published. The penalty for authors who have deliberately falsified data can be severe, as people in this world perceive it: often the loss of a prestigious position and possibly an entire career. Look up Andrew Wakefield.

I love your general asessment, but are you really surprised when you read that the research community is closed and tightly knit? My ex wife is a pediatric surgeon in a higly specialised field who pioneered a new procedure drastically improving survivability in newborns with a specific deformity.... which she could never get published and basically had to shut up about for fear of getting banned from all medical conventions because it went against the grain of established procedures. 10 years on, she quietly performs the surgery and gets infants flown in from all over the country as it has been proven to work and is still afraid of publishing her results. I think this is a reflection of all research, vaccine or otherwise.

But almost a year passed since the trials and we haven't heard anything from them... Just feels weird. If they were told to keep it a secret I don't believe that they would have done it either. 400 people is just too much, at least some would have talked about that. But still maybe she just overreacted or misswrote it, maybe it was actually 400 people who were not symptomatic who didn't get tested during the trials? Also she got fired by them for some reason, maybe it was a legit reason. So maybe she just wants to have her revenge? I am still not sure. We really need more information about this, it is really not clear. On top of this, the woman who confirmed that the virus didn't come from the lab (she is an expert in bat transmissible diseases specifically COVID), works for the lab, so this could be a conflict of interest. 1. Ventavia were only responsible for 3 of the 153 sites and approx. 1,000 participants (out of 44,000), so the affected data does not constitute the majority of the trial. I suspect this is a key factor in why the NEJM has not withdrawn the paper (even today, 21st Dec 2021).
    2. However, of the 9 trial sites inspected by the FDA, none were Ventavia sites. This is a shocking failure on the part of the FDA, especially since they were apparently informed of the issues with Ventavia.

I use to think the same thing but when the truth came out about 'gain of function' research at the Wuhan lab and who was really funding it I began to realise they (scientist internationally not just China and the U.S.) have been playing the witch for years with this virus and we all know the witch that brews the poison (this manipulated reverse engineerd virus) always has the antedote or cure on hand. Regardless of length of time of effectiveness they do seem to work at limiting severe symptoms. This has been an going experiment for years and this is what needs to be addressed with urgence. The complete banning of this type of research that has nothing to do with promoting world health but in fact the very opposite.

I applied to be part of a vaccine trial because even though I knew I was high risk of death or injury I figured since I have no dependents I’d rather it be me than someone who has dependents. In other words, at the time I was willing to risk my life because I felt the knowledge gained for the trial that could save other lives was worth the risk of death. Also, I knew the risk of injury was high, but they promised if I was injured by the trial they would at least cover all of my medical bills. Even though I was accepted to the trial originally, when I showed up for the intake I was told they couldn’t even figure out why, but the system was rejecting me from the study.
I later learned that people were injured in the study, but 100% of those patients were unblinded and removed from the study, and they were claiming 100% of the injuries/deaths were caused by pre-existing conditions. The whole point of this particular study was to test if the vaccine triggered injuries in people with pre-existing conditions.
I am absolutely livid. Thank goodness I was rejected from the study. I was willing to risk my life and severe long term injury solely because a) I felt the data gathered was worth the risk, and b) I was guaranteed at least if the worst case happened my medical bills would be covered. If I knew in advance that the company was likely to throw my data out and also that they would try to get out of paying my medical bills by blaming it on pre-existing conditions that changes my analysis of the risk and value of taking the risk. This wasn’t a trivial change to my decision. I was literally agreeing to take a high risk with my life and with permanent severe disability. How dare these companies throw out the data when the whole point of the study is to get data. I was absolutely not agreeing to risk my life and health to prop up a fake study to add fake legitimacy to a vaccine. In fake, I would probably be willing to risk my life for a study that saves people from falling for fake studies that adds fake legitimacy to a vaccine.

I refused when asked my Director of our Department of Health Facilities Licensing. When he suggested I reword my report I told him that I could only report what I saw and changed nothing, and suffered much repercussions from peers and from our advisory physician. Other inspectors would lose their previous inspection reports which were directly related to the facility lack of follow through in safety precautions that eventually resulted in full contractures and blind patient being bathed in water so hot he died of first degree burns. • @davidwilson-parr9260
      @davidwilson-parr9260 Před 2 lety +8

It was obvious since Pfizer released those 500 pages of data to the FDA back in Dec 2020 that something was seriously wrong. Around 3500 people on the trial had covid symptoms, it was around 1600 in the vaccine group and 1800 in the placebo group. They whittled that down to 170 people whom they determined 'actually had covid' using some method involving PCR that they've never fully explained.
That meant that only 5% of those on the trial with covid symptom and 'suspected covid' actually 'had covid' (170 out of the 3500) according to them. That always begged the question what did the other 95% have? Suspicious a hell. Now, all of this, the 477 as you say, not swabbed just confirms this. The whole trial result is totally scientifically invalid based on that.
Personally I think the 477 were probably swabbed and were all in the vaccine group and all tested positive and the results discarded. I bet I'm right.
