- Ermm where do I start. One of the hottest days of the year and the game was abandoned due to torrential rain. What a day, left France early doors much to Debbie’s dismay. Back home for 11.45, at the ground for 14.00. Football is back after missing the last 2 games.
Buxton on a good run, scoring 11 and conceding 0 in the last 4 games. Scunthorpe looking dominant at home and seemingly scoring goals for fun. Buxton did a job on us and we’re disciplined, they also loved a hard tackle. Whether it was late or not. Referee let lots go, then other times blew up for the smallest thing. Was one of those games you needed to be at. Hopefully you get a feel for it from the vlog. Cheers to Barra for doing bits too from the DRE 👏🏼👏🏼
Love the comment 'the ref gave us nothing' He sent off a Buxton player and gave Scunny a pen!! Then abandoned the match when Scunny were about to lose!! Brilliant
Various recent parallels between my own SUFC (Blues from Essex) and Scunny.
What I see are true fans who love their club.
Yourselves/Ourselves taking consolation at being 3rd in a poxy non league and at Southend we would be around 3rd in the level immediately above, were it not for a 10 point deduction 😢
Fraudulent and criminal ownership of both clubs must be stopped by the football authorities, but we all know it won't be.
Keep going gentleman,I enjoy your channel and the Muppet inspired old Gits at the end are great value.
UTB and good luck to Scunny too.
I remember supporting Luton Town in these leagues not so long ago! I also remember our day at the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final at Wembley, against a good Scunthorpe side. Your time will come again!
Gareth on history of the NL i think Buxton will be awarded the points.
You have had 2 games with rain storms you wouldn't believe it.
Buxton like alot of teams will be hard to beat but you have a good manager, watch Southport though if Jim Bentley stays they could surprise a few.
The refeering gets worse further down the leagues. I witnessed this in an NPL league game at Hyde a couple of weeks ago. Looking at your vlog Gareth this game should have been stopped much earlier for players safety. At least the game was eventually stopped, which never happened at Curzon. I think that the result will stand, due to the expense of replaying it, for the sake of 5 minutes.
I agree the refs in the vanarama can be utter shite even though we are one above you the ref at Oldham for us was utter shite
Great watch mate as always 👏👍
Great podcast really enjoyed it. Glad I stayed till the end for the joke…. What a double act😂
Tranmere fan here the reffing in that league is terrible iv been there 😮😢 unlucky Scunthorpe we carry on the way we are il b seeing you soon 😢
+
I recall the time going to your ground when it first opened , Crewe Alexander were the visitors back in about 93/94 . We pulled up and the ground was waterlogged back then due too the amount of rain that came down, my question is do you need to look at the drainage situation good luck for the rest of the season
so many experts !
Thanks Gareth. Watched it on NLTV. The sound of the rain on the roof drowned (cough) out the commentary and the water on the camera lens made ii difficult to see anything. Shocking ref, brings back memories of the Deadman and his sidekick Kettle. Why this ref did not take them off earlier when it wasn't safe is beyond me. I thought Buxton showed how to get a result. Showed that Scunny need a way to combat this type of play, beccause it will be frequent I reckon. Difficult to see that it would not be replayed and that one will be tasty. Hope you make it for that game. 😊
I'm a Notts County supporter. The standard of refereeing at the National League and National League North / South level is absolute, unmitigated balls. Stupid decisions, made by idiots with no accountability.
Its because its an appallingly administered league
@@stephenholmes1036 I think it's run by imbeciles. Some good, committed teams and officials who are to football as the Italians are to military success.
I am not sure what other decision the referee could have made. Correct decision, if very poorly communicated.
@@iananderson3799 He could have called it off sooner, or let it play out. This was a compromise that managed to annoy everyone.
@Hartley_Hare I assume he was attempting do the latter, but by the time the surface became dangerously waterlogged, he had missed the boat (ha ha) for the former.
Correct decision IMO, just appalingly communicated.
Bonkers ‼️
Great video ! We need to learn how to break these sides down! Peppering high balls into a crowd of giant defenders won’t work.
Ref had to take the players off. The pitch could have caused a serious injury to the players.
A rowing boat each would have helped both teams 🚣♀️
Hottest day of the year
Referee didn't want to lose that bet. He was on Somebody's payroll.
I think those guys at the end need to get a room with Scunthorpe,..lucky girl🤭
It's sad what's happened to Scunthorpe you had a great side once 50 60s I have a Liverpool v Scunthorpe program 1957 div2
Roger Hunt made his debut against Scunthorpe.
Some inconsistency in the interpretation of rules though.
Recent Chesterfield v Oldham match was never completed as there was a pitch invasion after Oldham’s equaliser in 95th minute. There was 2 or 3 minutes left as there were more stoppages in stoppage time yet ref blew for full time instead of letting Chesterfield kick off yet that didn’t count as abandoned
Rules are different for natural events and crowd trouble.
@@AndyJackson380 so it’s ok for a pinch invasion to bring forward full time whistle when score suits your team?
if you want fines and points deductions, crack on.@@spywriter
That should not be replayed ,After a Certain Amount of Time The Result should Stand ,That's what the Rules were when I was a Referee .
Hello did you not see the state of the pitch what else what he supposed to do, taking players off for 15 mins wouldnt have drained that swimming pool
How could that not have been abandoned? The ref was 100% correct to abandon the game. However he could have communicated it better. Talking to both captains and both coaches before giving a signal. Also, the outcome of a game cannot be decided by the ref or either team. It's down to the league/ FA to decide the outcome.
Some of those Buxton staff need to grow up. Looking for it.
there is no way you could play football in that rain the Ref got it right. Was impressed with the fans on both sides with the passion for the game, Man City fans I hope you were watching!! ...............A toon fan
Buxton buxton
And there's justice served😂
Very true. Though some things are a bit more important than the result. If we lose the club then those 3 points mean nothing 🤷🏻♂️
@@ScunthorpeUnited Fairplay you're in shitty situation pal as a Macc fan I feel your pain, going under and starting again was a blessing for us, we had an awful owner for 20 years taking thousands out of our club whilst watching it deteriorate, put alot of people of this town attending games,we now have one of the best owners in lower leagues and get better crowds down here than we ever had in the league, the infrastructure at macc will live on for decades, sky is the limit for Macc, believe it or not but we're a borderline league 1 sized club now with 3, 4 k fans most weeks with next to no away fans, in tier 9 and 8 and now 7 ) we now have amazing facilities, its hard to see the light when you're in that position but trust me pal your club with your fanbase will come back 10x stronger. Just hope you can find yourselves a passionate owner🤟
pen should have been retaken, miles off his line
Great idea putting the Mike next to a feckin speaker to record over the fans at the beginning 🤦♂️
I thought a game couldn’t be abandoned past 75 mins, am I missing something or does that not apply to non league or lower league games.
Should have just tried to play it out, seems dumb, I get it was nearly unplayable at the end, but it seems crazy what suddenly happened
if you team has only 7 or less it can be abandoned, i think
3661, looks like the attendance is not what it used to be 🙄🙄😭 don't dream its over 😅🤣 sept twenty three
The decision was right, you can't play football safely like that, however Buxton should get the points.
Why there was 5mins left
The acoustics were a challenge before I got the Uncle’s Benjamin 😂
Sunday school ref 😮
Weird!! I hope Ritchie Bennett comes good. He does have the ability to help break teams down.
The free header wasn’t good, ball watching like that; shouldn’t happen again.
Think the old chap on the right at the end of the video had sniffed a few bumps. 3rd degree gurns.
Points have gone to Buxton.😂😂😂
They haven't it will be a replay bit the Red card for the buxton man will still stand
@@leenewton1322don’t think the red card will stand.
Wishful thinking.
It was the correct decision shame on Buxton
I do feel for Buxton. If the roles were reversed I'd be FUMING. Just play the last couple mins OR let the clock run down? It's stoppage time ffs.
Look how far their keeper was off the line for the penalty
Sure. Let's just retrospectively change the rules to benefit one club. That should work fine.
I don’t feel sorry for them. If they hadn’t had played so dirty, wasting time etc the match would have finished before the pitch got too bad. I feel sorry for their fans, but not the players or coaches
@@iananderson3799 Who's saying restrospectively change the rules? What are you on about? You've argued a point no one's made.
@erosion271 Calm down. Can you point me in the direction of which law of the game states the referee can ask both sides to "run the clock down"?
Seen games in worse, could have just delayed the last bit?
buxton should be handed the match due to bottles throwen on pitch due to delwying the game when it couuld have been finished
THAT GAME WILL BE MID WEEK NOW maybe next year they get a refund if they can't go but NOT with train tickets 🚜🚜🔵⚪️ I went to Crawley it was unbelievable hot they ran out of water
shame the ref wasnt taken to the Buxton fans in the carpark after the game to see what they thought
Strange 5 mins to go 🔵⚪️🚜🚜🚜
The pitch was unplayable and there was five minutes to play so I suppose all ninety minutes has to be played
Buxton players including fresh subs shithousery throwing themselves to the ground with cramp added to the added time as did drinks breaks , substitutions and the Scunny penalty there must of been 7 mins remaining easy.
The result will stand ino as the refs report will cover his failings so no replay ..hope im wrong.
Buxton manager blaming a 1 minute pause cos of aplstci bottle thrown on the pitch is laughable
Worst ref ever seen totally clueless and massively inconsistent on everything.
Should of taken players off and waited or abandoned it at 1-1 .. taking the Scunny penalty in that was ridiculous.
crazy game
great vid again Gareth liked to new idea re combining footage from you in the posh seats n Barra in with the sardine can DRE
You were right if the weather was that bad the ref should of took them off 15-20 minutes earlier, in all fairness there shouldn't be a rematch result should stand, shocking decision to abandon with barely any time left
…at least 5 plus possibly 2 more. Buxton would have been lucky to hold out ,they were on their knees . In all fairness just look up the rules on abandoned games. You will find in these circumstances there is only one just decision.
@@chrismachin2166 Laws
I'm sympathetic to Scunny, but this was a disgrace.Let the result stand!
The English FA is not fit for purpose.
Im a grimsby fan the most ridiculous decision ever if the referee officiates again it will be a travesty
What's the deal with the scunthorpe fans causing trouble at every ground spoke to two lads at weekend apparently it's kicking off every match?
All I can say is whoever there having a go at must be ,real soft cnts Scunthorpe fk all to anybody 😂
@@mickharrison9004 two lads from Curzon was just saying some was just there to cause trouble and I've heared a few other things lol well yea most fans have turned into snow flakes I agree
@@Matthew-fb6lh I'm old school 80 s kid and also since my sister lived at Scunthorpe for a while ,I hanged out round there worked and stuff it's a double mellow place ,not one that creates wild lads obviously there will be a few everywhere ,but knowere near enough to cause mayhem and people dying ,like one of our lads did last year a blackpool fan sadly our tony ,Burnley came to town who are a bit notorious but so was we especially in the 80 s ,anyway dingles have always been one of our main foes many big offs over the years ,in both places and there was 3 pubs smashed up before the game ,after the game about 25 blackpool lads went looking for Burnley ,who would be gauranteed to stay in blackpool for a drink a while ,so our lads found them at the Manchester pub it's well known on prom ,we don't use it but grockles do from out of town so big fight occured there ,and poor tony had his head stoved in the doctor at the hospital ,said the trauma to his head was equivalent to a high speed crash , obviously now for next few years though unless cup matches ,were now 2 divisions apart but obviously when we play them again ,Lancashire police will be on high alert because blackpool fans our youth are lunatics ,it wasn't them who found Burnley tony was 50 so he d of been about it over the years ,now if you or some Scunthorpe people were to hang out round blackpool ,central drive ,town ,two big estates ,south shore ,you'd know what I mean the difference between the two towns .
Silly outcome for both teams and sets of supporters. This needs a FA inquiry.
Easy to blame the ref but he let the game continue until was no longer playable and the rules state if the game is not completed the result cannot stand, he cant just change the rules can he?
Good video lads but, like other viewers and non viewers, it's ludicrous that the match is being replayed. Very poor decision by the ref so close to full time or, should I say, close to the 90th minute on the clock. Buxton have been cheated.
Result should stand ffs.and ref strung by the cojones from a goal post.
My comments were obviously said in the heat of the moment, regarding the referee. But hey, football is a passionate game.
I honestly think a pause would have been a better decision. A reply is unfair on the Buxton boys, if I'm honest, and if the 1-2 scoreline stands, it's unfair on the Iron, who could well have equalised again.
Edit: There's a video on the Scunny United fan page suggesting their 'keeper was off his line when we took our penalty.
It got abandoned cus the ball wasnt Rowling
You and Buxton fans paid full price, pro league level ticket price, and got Sunday morning park football officiating.
Think about it
😮
They couldn't even kick the ball floating lol..not really refs fault.
5 minutes left and its abandoned???...NOOOOOOO
that cant stand surely,...
A replayed game or the last 5 minutes would be fairer to be honest..😮
Pub teams pub refs what do you expect 😂
⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️
Isn't this the sort of situation, where the FA should get involved? Let the jokers thst run the game do some work for a change.
Why wasn't it abandoned at 1-1, or at least the players taken off to see if it improved after 20mins or so? Poor decision by the referee, all these permutations could have been avoided by a bit of common sense!
Ref lost the plot you dont abandon a game after 95 minutes. Play to the finish or take the players off for a while and finsh it later
You cant help but laugh at the buzton players and fans thinking they had won the game lol.
Yet another in a million cretinous decisions made by the fools in Black . Yes it was very bad conditions , so what , these players are grown men , I played in torrential rain when I was 10 or 11 . I watched footage of football in the 70s only yesterday haha , same kind of conditions . No problems , play on . This game was virtually over for goodness sake , narcissistic referees are the Bain of football in my opinion .
Disgraceful refereeing. From this video I can see clearly the ball stops rolling and the players are at risk way before he blew for full time. He should have stopped the game way before he did.
Yep. Terrible ref.
This is embarrassing
Caught my eye as to why it was abandoned. Stupid really. Snowflakes again. The only excuse I suppose is to not wreck the field but I don't think that would have happened, and I don' think that was their reason. In fact what was their reason?
One of the worst refereeing displays I’ve ever seen. The standard in this league is atrocious
Crap football,,Crap Town
Total joke. HCFC.
I’ll sleep easier knowing that, thanks 🙄
