Is this branch of maths and computing is started because of the goodwill of mathmatics departments of IITs? Why this branch when CSE is already there?

MnC is more focused on areas where maths is really necessary like ai data science machine learning while cse is more towards less maths topics like software developing

That's why math departments have come up with this kind of an interdisciplinary course in the last 10-20 years. In the future applied math is going to be even more important.
