Wish I had known this Saturday I had a macalpine pan con too long went and bought a short one I live near you I'm just near Stanningley Park, do you live on Brookfields ?
Great tip, I remembered seeing your video a few weeks ago. On a job today with a more experienced plumber who needed to shorten the pan connector. Showed him this and he was buzzing as it saved him a bit of hassle. Keep the tips coming 👍
Good to know that. I bought 3 for a toilet I fitted 2 weeks ago a short, medium and long turned out I didn’t need any there was already one coming up through the floor instead of a solid rigid pipe it terminated under the tiles. Into this was a 90 pan connector so I got a bit of rigid 4inch diameter pipe put a decent chamfer on it with plenty of fairy liquid and fitted that into the flexi coming up through the floor and then a new 90 pan connector as I was always told never to use 2nd hand plumbing parts and it was the best I could do I wasn’t going to dig up the floor to pull the flexi out. Cheers great tip that keep the videos going your inspiring.
Pull it out slightly more , I know for sure wouldn’t last you that long , that end you cut off that’s a specific design to hold the pressure, if someone tries to plunge it or uses the plunger shot , that wouldn’t hold tight … Does Macpaline , says on instructions you can cut it off? If it does my bad than.
No it doesn’t, but I showed the mac alpine rep and he said he doesn’t see a problem with it and the ridge where you cut it as long as it’s a straight clean cut is the same
Unfortunately I’ve seen plenty of CZcams videos of plumbers using them on every job because they simply can’t be bothered getting the right fittings. Keep one of them on the van and you’re good to go. Lazy.
A lot of trusts now will not let you use these as they are no good if you have vermin and are also prone to crack. They are OK for small refurbs or to get you out of trouble ,but i look after 50 NHS Mental health units and am not allowed to fit for these reasons, must be Rigid pipework which also lasts for ever
Even the shorter one is too short and plus you can keep a long one in the van then you don’t have to stock loads of them you’ve got one you can cut down to the size you need
This has been an absolute life saver
Glad I could help

Every days a school day 🙌
Oi! Great shout man.
Never knew this. Yeah good idea 💡
Nice one. Many times had to go back out for another pan connector because the cistern too far away from the wall 🤦🏻♂️
Good tip 👍
Nice one mate I had same issue and had to go and get smallest one great tip and tricks will remember it for next job lol 👍🏼💐🙂
Nice one pal hope it helps
Good tip, although Viva do the short, medium, long range range. All available at Toolstation for half the price of mcalpine!
So do Mcalpine but had it before where just needs to be that little bit shorter. Not sure if you can do same with viva I’ll have to look
Viva seals are poor in my opinion

Flexible pan connectors should be an absolute last resort, not the go-to for lazy plumbers.
They have there uses but not for every job
Wicked tip mate I had no idea
Glad I could help
Nice

Back to wall toilets there perfect to connect up and push back
Legend thanks
Just got me right out the shit 💪
Glad it helped

Where you can use ridged pipework I will always recommend
If you're using a pan connector on a new toilet your fitting, then your not a plumber.
Well that ain’t correct, they do have there advantages and can get you out of the shit sometime. Don’t get why people have a problem with them
The first time it came off i thought i broke it, put it back with ct1😁
Haha no pal don’t be ct1ing it it will be fine
Top tip , use viva pan connectors , cheaper and miles better
Not sure if you can do it with viva I’ll have a look
No viva is pony mcalpine seals are far superior and better quality
Plymbers Never use a pancake 🥞 panconnector only gas engineers use them
Pancake day was last month
Plumbers can spell and use correct grammar..... you're obviously a plasterer
Now do that with a used one 🤢
😂😂😂
I can’t get the dam thing off lol even my partner tried
It’s pretty tough to be honest
Or just buy a shorter one 😂
Even the shorter one is too short and plus you can keep a long one in the van then you don’t have to stock loads of them you’ve got one you can cut down to the size you need
Don’t cut ya finger of maca mush 😂
Done that a few times 😂😂
I seen this video about a year ago and this saved me a trip to the merchants which was an hours journey (traffic time)
Comments like this is why I do CZcams, to know I’ve helped someone means the world 💯🙌
