For the taller glasses you do not need to flip the center tray. Just take it out and without flipping it, slide into the lower guides. This provides a lower an even surface to rest your tall glass.

Thank you everyone for the comments about the tray. If I still had the machine I would do an update. I did flip the center it gives you another 1/4 inch of room but the surface is uneven, I wasnt sure if that was the intended purpose of that piece or not. But I wasn't able to fit my regular mug under the spot even with the extra room. If I get another chance with the machine I'll look further! Thank you again
Yeah man, thanks for this rewiew. One little hint for your glass: You can pull out the small cup holder in the middle, turn 180 degree and use your bigger glass! (I've see this in another rewiew) BTW: Programmers are epicure (PHP & Coffe are a good Team ;)
Many thanks! I neglected to mention in the video that i had tried that but the mug i was using was still too tall. The extra room makes a standard mug slide in and out with ease but didn't give me enough space for the fancy double double walled glass. I finally added an annotation to the video to reflect that. Thank you!
Thanks for the informative, detailed review. I just got a refurbished one of these machines on eBay. Everything works beautifully except for the steam wand: I clip it into the machine, but the machine doesn’t seem to recognise that it is there, so the LED next to the steam button doesn’t come on. I notice in your video that the LED isn’t lit for you, either. Do you know whether there is some ‘magic’ needed in connecting the wand? I can’t find anything about it in the manual.
What kind of review is this, you can't even see the crema, or what the heck it looks like. It's suppose to be a review, show what quality of espresso it makes, and not fumble through the process…, yikes!..

No worries in the slightest it wasn't mean spirited at all, Very accurate criticism. Way too many people go over the top in their responses. Its refreshing to see someone actually point out whats wrong in simple terms. honestly if i'm looking for a superautomatic espresso machine i love the philips syntia, great quality, but doesn't have a milk reservoir. it has a frother wand.

For the larger cups you need to remove the little center mat and place it on a lower rung.

the machine does not have a boiler...it is a thermoblock heating system
