  • This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. We can all do something small to make experiences better for people.
    Bobby Stuckey began his distinguished career working in restaurants in his native Arizona. During his five-year tenure at The Little Nell, the restaurant received numerous awards for wine and service, including Gourmet's "Best Wine Service" Award; Mobile Travel Guide's Five Star Hotel and Restaurant Rating; Wine Spectator's Grand Award; and a nomination from the James Beard Foundation for Outstanding Wine Service. He has earned the Master Sommelier Diploma from the Court of Master Sommeliers, considered by many to be the ultimate professional credential in the wine and spirits services industry.
    With the vision of opening a neighborhood restaurant reminiscent of the Italian frascas they had visited in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Stuckey and Mackinnon Patterson opened their first restaurant, Frasca Food and Wine, in August 2004 in Boulder, CO. Having researched and traveled throughout Italy many times, both were deeply inspired by this region in particular - the international influences of its cuisine, the profusion of local ingredients in its rustic yet elegant dishes, its passionate relationship between food and wine, and the gracious hospitality of the locals.
    About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

    Booby, really well done and thank-you for your hospitality -- the food is always the best and the wine is to die for, but when we come we always feel like we are part of the family!!!

    I had the pleasure to meet Bobby a few years ago in Santa Barbara. What a pleasure. He is warm and gracious and truly makes you feel like a friend from the minute you meet him. I hope our paths cross again one day and I hope I make it to Frasca for dinner for what I can only imagine is a fantastic meal filled with warm hospitality.

    Great talk with enough humor and great examples. I see myself as a hospitalian and can totaly agree with all the things Bobby talks about here.
    I think the ultimate Hospitalian way of thinking is about giving without expceting something in return...

    Thank you Bobby! So True!We all need to do just this and the whole planets vibration will rise😊❤
    Hospitality is the genuine infusion of the loving human heart into the external experience, whatever it may be..Any experience,without heart,is empty,lacking the warmth and genuine connection all of us thrive in.

    So down to earth and really what all of us are looking for: To be that one that gives another a good experience, and to be that one that is being given that good experience. Focusing on our giving, makes us aware of our connection with others. wonderful talk.

    I am Italian, and I own a small 46 seats restaurants in Shanghai china, we do simple , traditional and authentic Italian cusine , we are on the Bund area where all the stars Michelin restaurants are, but we have no view over the skyline ( we actually have no windows), surrounded by the top stars hotel,since many years we are highly recommended in every website(local or international) or apps...when we open the all city was laughing at us , they were betting if we were lasting 2 or 3 moths max. we are fully booked every night since 32 years and we are open 365 days a year...Well...when people ask me the reason of the success i never knew what to say, how to reply??? Thanks bobby you you just explained it , seems your saying the words the illustrate my feelings and hospitality ideas...Thanks from all my team

    I am actually rather disturbed by this speech. How much did that wine cost Rose? Hospitality is often so inhospitable
    where workers are concerned that even Labor Day, which is supposed to be a day to honor workers, shuts down the corporate headquarters without any cut in salary for the day off while bringing extra work without even overtime pay for the real workers actually conducting the business of making sure that the company gets paid. There sure aren't any cash registers bringing in the dough in the executive suites. I am actually so grateful to the serfs who wait on me while they could be burglarizing my home instead, that I really wouldn't want to be a customer at an establishment which would allow -- much less encourage -- workers to spend their money on company products on behalf of customers. Personnel policies are incredibly important to me when I am deciding where to spend my money.

    If hospitality is so high with this guy, then why don't you lower your menu prices so others could enjoy the hospitality that you talk about.
    Hospitality should be for everyone, not just for certain people with a high income. In a culinary student,. Things must change.

    • @daddy_chill1530
      @daddy_chill1530 Před 3 lety +4

      You have misinterpreted his idea. It's not about lowering prices in expensive restaurants, it's about developing a culture of hospitality in inexpensive restaurants, buffets, and other places and areas.
