    As a teacher in the early childhood sector I applaud the message of the Princess of Wales and her guest/host. Schools can do a lot of good for early learners but there is no comparison with the quality time and input they can get within their families. Positive family life is the secret ingredient to a good society. I wish every child would be able to experience it.

      @CarlaSPRE Před rokem +56

      My father always said: The school is responsable for giving instruction, the family is responsable for giving education.
      Honesty, respect for others, compassion, love, responsability.... those are meant to be nurtured at home. The school complements the family work in raising a child but the main work is in the parents. And children will learn from your actions more than from your words

    • @cwayzums
      @cwayzums Před rokem +47

      I agree. It starts at birth and at home. Children can blossom at school with friends and teachers, but at the end of the day, they go home to what might not be a safe environment. I’m happy they are doing something about this issue. I hope this spreads throughout the world so that we may have less and less violence in our future and our children’s future.

    I just spoke to a romanian friend today and she said there is a saying in Romania which roughly translates into "the most important school you attend is in the first 7 years". As a mum of two girls (7 and 10) I worry that as soon as they hit their teens everything we've tried to instill into them goes out the window because all of a sudden their peers will be a lot more important and their parents are just a necessity...

    • @emiliagal5448
      @emiliagal5448 Před rokem +14

      Indeed AnNa, we call it "the 7 years from home" in Romanian, that's all one has to say and we all know what it means. We sometimes mention it even in case of a person's lack of manners, that they are missing "the 7 years from home".

    I love this, as a parent we had little to no family help bringing up our son and really struggled, health visitors were on hand then and were such a blessing, I hear from friends they no longer do home visits now, that is appalling, that needs to change. Not all parents are blessed with a " village " to help bring up their children, this is what we yearned for and needed but didn't have. I personally think that parents need to know where to get the help from the start if they don't have the help and support but how to achieve that?

      @@vallee3140 No he wasn't disabled, but as a youngish mum I just needed some help, I'd never had a child before or been around children as an adult so it was all new to me and not something that came naturally. He was planned for and loved but sometimes with all the will in the world, as much as you think you can cope on your own you can't. Hubby is self employed so was back to work as soon as our son was born, it was overwhelming. He was over 9lb when he was born and I'd had a c section so couldn't carry him for ages so that bonding didn't happen straight off and I didn't produce enough milk so couldn't feed him. He's in his 20s now and doing well but those first 5 years I just felt like I could've done with people just being there to share the load with me. ps not being a victim here, just sharing my story x
