Between Howie saying “I’m colour blind” and Sofia saying “oh, I thought your ex husband” - the judges were my favourite part of the act.
Because he's so slow, he gave away the trick at just about 5:25. He took the combination from Heidi's box and and hidden it behind the envelope and around 5:25 he puts it inside his back pocket.
They should have had a Seal song playing as her X was lowered.

Does anyone else feel exhausted by dustin’s style of magic like the slow paced, emotional element that he brings, I’m sure it’s enjoyable for most of you which I totally get not trying to bring him down but for me, I don’t think I would last watching an hour and half show in Vegas
i agree!! i found myself wanting to skip parts bc it felt very long and dreadful. anticipation is nice, but too much of it gets me impatient. im also disappointed w the act and confused w the purpose of certain parts of the act (such as bringing heidi's x down).

Went to a magic show at a casino about a month ago, they really understood the balance of rapid fire quick tricks in which your eye could barley keep up but in a good way and they slowed it down for some tricks which needed it but it didn’t feel dreadful, I was intrigued and on the edge of my seat the whole time but for something like Dustin’s type of magic, it would drive me insane
He is a story teller magician. His style makes the audience connect with his magic. A lot of people prefer that personable touch, it draws you to him. Makes you curious, and more “magical” if you will…. Because anyone can be flashy and bang out 10 tricks and be done.
I prefer a mix of both, keeps the show interesting. I’ve seen many shows start like this… because it gets really still and quiet and then immediately after the reveal, flash, bang, pop haha it’s an experience!

@@lunaticFringe69 Any singer who has learnt this trick and practiced sufficiently could probably execute it. Not all magicians can sing unfortunately because it requires genetics on top of skill, which are not replicable.

Dustin is DEFINITELY bringing something to the audience they've not seen before. Story telling magic. And if you're not a fan of the heart felt, heart warming, you won't like his act. Simple. But don't say he's like everyone else. He most definitely is not.

@@lunaticFringe69 The issue here is that this type of thing is exactly, and I mean **exactly** the same format as seen before. And the "magic" here is hard to even see as magic because you can figure out how it's done without trying. You see that nothing special is going on there because it's dreadfully obvious. When it's that easy to figure out a trick, it isn't a very good trick!

@5:17 notice when he talk to terry and goes backward near to that ladder and pick something. I think that's where the paper with those predicted word came in. And yes, all those judges said loudly what they picked so it can hear in the backstage and someone wrote those words. Very clever, nice tricks.

The envelope was on top of the ladder, and at 5:24 when Terry was matching the piece he put those notes in his pocket. I actually get those observation by looking at Penn and Teller

He is really passionate when doing his acts! And I think that’s the point, it’s not about “sobbing stories” he trying to show that HUMAN Decency actually can exist and he’s showing his magic through the love of his family! It’s incredible how he always knows what their gonna pick! I wanna see more from him for sure!
The boring Magic in the history, too long story, headache
It's way too long. Ok imagine you're in a bar and are having eye contact with a guy you find attractive. After 2hours he still doesn't make a move. How would you feel? Still excited? No, bored and turned off. What would you do? You will reject him even if he finally made a move later on.

But that’s not talent! If he wanted to speak on stories of kindness and decency there was literally an act last year who WON where he just spoke about truth, facts, love, beauty, and tough stuff through poetry: Brandon Leake. Maybe this guy should give the magic stuff up and just be a motivational speaker or poet. Maybe that’s his real talent.
Assistant in the rafters writing down everything the judges choose and stick it in the X, he uses slight of hand and keeps the envelope puts it in his back pocket and doesn’t actually burn it, X comes down and he uses slight of hand to grab the envelope from his pocket (he had it the whole time) and grab the note from the X, puts the note with the prediction in his pocket without us seeing. Then reveals the envelope as if it came out of the X and then reveals the note with the prediction that actually did come out of the X. Your welcome

I wish I could like this act, but his "sob acting" got annoying. His direction to ask the judges what exactly they picked out LOUD instead of being discreet made me think someone had to hear the verbal cue to it could be written down quickly enough so the hand-off can be done by the ladder when it's brought out. I'm no magician, but after watching AGT so long, it's becoming more obvious.

Someone writes the words backstage and puts them in a secret compartment at the top of the step ladder. When he pulls down the metal door from Heidi’s X it obstructs everyone’s view of him getting the envelope from the ladder. This tricks about as old as the earth

I really like to watch magicians perform but this sob act again and again got me clicking the X within 20 seconds. Once during the audition is fine bro. Stop bringing your sob acts into all your performances. It's cringey and tough to watch.

Presentation was good, and well executed. However, easy to decode. Notice how he deliberately speaks slow to give time for his people to take the trash can away, with the (fake) burning envelope inside. (We only saw a side of the green envelope burned) Next they bring out the ladder with the envelope on top of it (with the white letters). He climbs up and holds the green envelope with the white papers, never showing the backside, which he slips into the pocket while camera focuses on Terry matching the corner. Nonetheless, it was quite funny and enjoyable to watch!

@@edwinahmariaria382 Of course when he is doing it on stage, he's far away from the audience... so small movements directly can't be seen by them. However, cameras are close and can easily catch him slipping stuff into this pockets. This is where they panned the camera to fool online viewers. They probably did catch it, and removed that scene, to make it more entertaining for us online. If I were them, I would too. Must keep show entertaining and ratings up!
People know there is a trick to it all, but why must people come on here and ruin the few minutes of magic and entertainment they get from watching it. After all we have been through over the past year let people enjoy their show!

Key to figuring it out. Look at the words written by the wife. The letter "i" in the pre-written parts has the dot. However look at the words chosen by the judges and written by someone else offstage does not include the dot. A person doesn't change the way they write specific letters like that. Words chosen by the judges were written by someone else after the words were chosen. He grabs something off the top of the ladder with his left hand and passes it to his right hand. Bucket was removed so the post card can be placed in the new green envelop. I like magic, but like even more figuring out how it was done. Not a bad trick.
I love Dustin and really hope he wins. I think with an act like this, the responses really show what's in a person's heart...because a lot of his act is based on emotion and grace and love...just like a singer...a lot of their style comes from what's in their hearts and souls.
