That passive always sounded upside down, lol. As much as he helped me out a lot early on when I got him (didn't get an Abomination till 9 months in), that base ATK is wasted.
He's one of the very old heroes that they've refused to rework because there's really no incentive to rework heroes that a lot of people have compared to brand new heroes

Secondly, I'm so bummed he's not that great. Every ounce of my being is telling me to summon for him because I love his design and aesthetic, but I'm at the point of the game where I need better heroes/gear to progress into further content. He would literally not be able to help my account. :(

Not only is he a mid-tier hero, but his design is a clone of Ajax (minus the dragon). Just compare them side by side and you can see the same model. Their armor and horned helmet are the same except for the colors and few lava effect here and there on Magmus's armor. . Seems like the dev are getting lazy

Relatively new player here - I just pulled this guy today (and the last epic I needed for Abomination, as it happens). A little disappointed he's not a bit better :(

If his Ult was more like Cerberus' ult and could land further away and hit more targets it would be more useful.
Wouldnt he also make more sense as a chaotic+infernal unit or at least be a bit better for like solca/twin synergy or with the self damage theme of the chaos faction ? I think it’s such a sad waste cuz he looked so cool and i looked forward to getting him. Was hoping he‘d be like a wrath on roids from his looks.
I think the hell born passive was designed to protect him from getting one shotted. Results wise it’s probably worse in practice but I don’t hate the idea of it

I'm on day 4 , should I build him or wait for abomination?
I'm using him on forerunner as third deployment in my single target arena team. The retaliation works well and the vulnerability allows Valyeria and Silas to finish the job quickly. Paired with the right healer he could be more damaging than Ardea.
For me his kit is ultimately "tanky fighter" - can survive a big hit and will then hit enemy hard (ideally killing them), giving you time to heal him back up again. Some fighters in the game can't take a big hit while he can. Also in arena having him take the hits is allowing me to use valeryia's ult. more often without fear of her dying. (I can DM you a link to an arena run with him).
I really want him to he reworked to be HP scaling and Rork has shown they can do that effectively

Do you not run wrath ? I use him to "tank" so i can ult with valeriya, plus lord bonus
@@hayded1 I run torodor lead so I'm getting bonus damage from retaliation strikes, bonus damage from leader skill, bonus damage from wailing skull.
Current global apex/high overlord meta is hard, praetus, valderon. Doubt he can do anything

Wouldn't the physical vulnerability be a nice addition to something like a nightmare GB team? Also thinking maybe a wailing skull instead of that exclusive with his insanely high scaling attack may be better?

New heroes that need a rework before they're even released is generally not a good omen.

So they took skillwise chaos unit, visually infernal units and made it into nightmare unit XD

He seems like a Nightmare version of Cerberus that can be healed. Or at least that’s what it looks like to me. Could you do a comparison?
Cerberus has a wider range and higher multipliers on the ground effect I think.
His kit is a mozaic of partially implemented playstyles
he has aoe but st debuff, he has high atk but low mulitplier, he has a handsome face but a nightmare, and his hellborn............I was thinking if they switch the affect, like high HP for dmg increase and low hp for dmg reduction, he will be really good in some places

left side. and I havent seen ronaldo's vid yet but ardea is a great choice. also for stage 6, you need magic there as well so it isn't a simple as just inserting one hero

I'm ok with not every new hero being ground breaking. However, instead of just making some heroes clearly very powerful, and others very "mid," it would be great it was more about making heroes that are OVERALL "mid" as far as how much content they are good in, BUT who are excellent in some niche content, or who bring some kind of unique ability that allows for some interesting strategies to counter specific problems. For example, if this guy had a passive that gave out shields to any nearby units that can not be healed, then he'd be an interesting part of a ground based AOE team as he'd enable heroes like Cerberus and Atrox to stay up longer, or he could be used to help Valeriya alive while she's ulting.

I was gonna toss a few 10 pulls to see if I get lucky, but after seeing Zelus as his banner mate and seeing his kit better explained, I'll pass. Probably get him as an off-banner the next time I pull anyways 😂

What sense does it make to have a character like this with the kit he has and does absolutely no burning damage???
I feel like everything from now up to anniversary is a guaranteed skip with the exception of certain new Lords like Iovar but it’s not even the same resources. He looks so damn cool but Zelus is the banner mate… this banner feels unacceptable without Zelus buffs.

I just have to say i don't really think his passive is bad. I think it's meant for tanking one strong hit (while the dmg reduction is up), then hit hard (well... that's the potential problem here) with retribution and get healed back up for the dmg reduction. I do not think it's reversed or unintuitive. For me the idea is solid. I just think his numbers should be a little more "entertaining" for him to be good for certain content (e.g. void rift).
But please let me know if i get it wrong here :)
Yes I just really disagree with this. Will only be harder for him to get healed up when he is taking damage without increased reductions. Point of a tank is to be full of hp and solid
